Outstanding, in the true sense of the word. Pavarotti was a great Nemorino, but Bergonzi's sensitivity and mellifluous lines are in a class of their own. Wonderfully partnered here with Taddei's gritty and versatile vocal delivery.
Bergonzi è fantastico, Taddei pure; ma per una faccenda di abitudine lo preferisco su Dulcamara: la sua voce e (soprattutto) il suo physique du role trovo stiano meglio più sul dottore ciarlatano che sul sergente sbruffone. Belcore l'avrei dato a Panerai o Cappuccilli. Sennò, visto che era ancora in ottima forma, anche a Gobbi.
The two singers are of course consummate professionals. But why did they have to send Belcore out in a costume left over from a production of Luisa Miller or I Puritani?
