The major problem these two unfortunate officers lack is "strong connection". Also, their exposure was too global and very embarrassing. Also, 90% of those in that hall are probably worse than them. It is good these two "guinea pigs" have been dismissed, but when will the heavily corrupt high ranking officers be dismissed too? We pray they get globally exposed too!
Policemen extorting money from motorists on our roads has been with us for years and not every Nigerian has access to a camera or can boldly record police men asking for money. Unfortunately, the sacking of these two policemen does not deal with the root causes.
Sorry for these fall guys, they practiced what is regularly practiced throughout the length and breath of Nigeria, from the presidency, National Assembly. Ports Authority, Customs and the Military. This the stock in trade of all Nigeria Institutions.
Even the boss who said on that video that they should let her go is also should be dismissed because obviously they've been doing that except for the woman he said in the video they should let her go😮
God himself will help us to arrest and punish those in high places of authority by himself by whatever means he will employ. Either through sickness, untimely death or imprisonment within or outside of the country, let God decide that. As we can see Godwin Emefiele's own today. In his case it is we Nigerians that will win through God help.
This is why I stopped going to Nigeria I’m scared 😳 The last time I was there, a policeman stopped us, I had just landed and was on my way to the village He ordered my sister to sit in the back while he got in the front and directed our driver to the police compound Once there he demanded money and wouldn’t let us leave I was so scared We had to pay I’ve never been back since 😢
Exactly. I watched the video and I don't think their action truly calls for dismissal, a warning could do. Even though they asked the Dutch lady for something they didn't insist and let the lady go without wasting time. These people are equally poorly paid and have zero protection doing their job. And the commissioner using the Teachers as an excuse for failure of the government is ludicrous.
Most police officers never learn. Let the IG, AIGs, or DIGs do disguised visits to roads along the south east and south south corridors and see for themselves.
How can they disguise, can they go without siren on bad roads, can they go without armed men and armed vehicles, then you will know what kidnappers can do.
I am from Sierra Leone but currently living in the United States. I watched the video and I screamed with laughter. This just exposes how corruption in Africa has become pandemic. Even if the woman would have given him money, how much do you think that money would have been. Even here in America there is corruption, but not in the magnitude or manner the way it is in Africa honestly. You visit an office for official purposes, you can openly see the civil servants begging for money. Sometimes your businesses will not be addressed even until you give them money. Shame on you who are corrupt
@@07juju yes it has something to do with this. I’m making a social reality comparison between my home continent ( West Africa to be specific) and that of the continent where I’m currently living. I was born in the 80s raised, schooled and grew up in Sierra Leone, so I know exactly what are the social realities of these countries including Nigeria. They are extremely corrupt to the highest peak, that’s why it’s difficult for Africa to minimize poverty honestly. Until people begin to understand that not having sustainable electricity, housing, pure water and roads etc. is a result of pandemic corruption
They are just the scapegoats of the police. They just represented and painted a good picture of the Nigerian police and the corruption in the Nigerian system - from presidency to judiciary and to legislature.
What are you talking about I can’t understand Nigerians. So they should be let free because the cp might not be innocent himself. What an insensitive logic.
When we don't go after the number one corrupt politicians and so, why would I wholly be celebrating hypocrisy. We love to celebrate nonsense and eyeservice by the purveyors of the corruption itself. Corrupt people are the ones ruling us. Is Gandollar not APC chairman.
They should take it across the country and if they do, we will have only 5% left in the job. They should campaign about it more across the count both physical and thru media. I think that will help, because their oga on that table is guilty of the act as well.
They screwed with the WRONG lady... She is brave beyond description and takes no crap, from anyone. Have been following her for years now. She's been to places I won't go! And, like me, she has a camera (or a few) running all the time... anyone adventure touring or riding a bike period should. Problem here is those two guys superiors should be getting the same treatment. Betcha they got their shirts back 1 minute after the went outside.
This is very good but I wish the Nigerian police would start going after the corrupt politicians in Nigeria. The Nigerian police have failed to realize the enormous power they have. They should be the engine house of our country in fighting corruption and the decay in our society. Nigeria can become better if only the police can do their part.
You Africans you like complaining about corruption but in your hearts you have normalise it. That is why some people are complaining that the punishment is harsh. In some countries people are killed for corruption.
These cops were kicked out of the force but I know for a fact that normally they are assigned to "roadblocks" with the intent to demand money and the police chuef gets his/her cuts. I have noticed that in Africa most cops do not patrol. They are just waiting at roadblocks to "collect" money. If they are not assigned to roadblocks they are not doing anything and quite upset about it.
what an embarrassment the lady who filmed them cashed over 90 thousand Dollars for the views of this video through the RU-vid Monetization program, she will continue to earn so much money through clicks on this video, but these, men will not only have to struggle to feed their families but also their dependants. Bravo Africa! come 2024 AND YOU WILL TAKE 5 STEPS BACKWARDS
Nigeria government keep increasing the cost of living but they won't increase salaries. Why won't there be extortion and corruption ? When last did government increas salaries but they increase the cost of living every two years.
They did. They brought shame...... no excuses for the shame they brought to Nigeria. Our musicians, Actors, Doctors, Scientists, Writers, Sportsmen and women, educated and talented Nigerians are trying to repair Nigeria's image abroad and doing a good job at that already.... Nigerians are now known here in America as the Kings and Queen of good music and exciting movies... and geniuses in education...... And these ones continue to rubbish our image.
Those big heads brought more shame than these yet they stay put and those who pronounced judgement on these two , salute those who brought Big shame to Nigerians. Disgraceful what a nation and its laws 😢 😢
Simple as that . I see comment people saying . It becuase she is foreigners. Yes we know . Even the dpo or commissioner of police or senators ,politicians none of them hand clean we leave in a corrupt country and we pray we get off it . But not to a foreigner. That is the point ☝️ painting the image of Nigeria more bad .
The message is don't get caught collecting bribes from foreigners. As if it doesn't happen to ordinary Nigerians daily and no one does anything. Again, if it had been a Nigerian that made the video and posted, your guess is as good as mine. If you know, you know.
So this offices were dismissed because of foreigners? What about ordinary Nigerians that are been surpress everday on the street...not that l supports what the did...but the law should not be discriminated...
Can police officers in Nigeria at large get proper training? Can you see how the CO is trying to command them but they didn't understand the two-step backward match? That is ridiculous.
Training? What training? Let's hit the nail on the head. The simple problem is that they are not paid sufficient enough. Nigeria has not even agreed what the minimum wage in the country should be. YOU, how much will you expect as a LIVABLE wage for doing the risky police work? Be honest. How much will be sufficient for you? Match the quality of life of foreign police to here in Nigeria.? N500,000, N800,000 monthly. Right? Do you know what they get here in NIgeria standing under hot sun breathing diesel smoke? Say their salary amount. This is the reason they will ALWAYs ask for bribe and behave disorderly.
We are just discovering ourselves , there are many innocent Nigerians that are harassed and extorted by police and nothing is done because this is done to a foreigner and cannot be covered .
Unfortunate for the two because the people dismissing them may have committed, committing or planning worse offense. 99% from top brass to rank and file are the same. However, the saying goes "whom they catch na him be thief" When criminal cabal is running a country.
This is not justice. I watched the video where these two police officers were literally begging a Dutch lady for money. I want to bring to your attention, Mr. IGP, that your men who are usually at the international airport beg passengers arriving in the country. They hype you with all sorts of names such as 'Chairman,' 'leader,' and 'Boss' to get money from you. Officers of the law caught in that manner should also be prosecuted or dismissed to balance the equation.
You really typed this nonsense? When people were protesting for police reform after END SARS the same police are used to brutalize protesters. They don't even care to learn if this is in their favour.
Unfortunately for Nigeria, only the Nigerian policemen asked money from Noraly. The rest of the policemen in other African countries just let her go after asking some questions.
More disgrace to the nation. Why remove their uniforms in camera unnecessary. What does the law also say for taking a bribe ? The person talkng is the accuser, prosecutor and the judge. This is a joke- Allow the laws of the land to work. My opinion though.
These one were just unfortunate. The person charging them is always a benefactor at the end of the day from the money they collect from the highway. Why don't they go ahead and investigate the ones along Lagos Benin road? Hypocrisy
I watched Noraly's video. He did ask for money, but didn't insist on it when she said no. They still let her go. I guess it's the point that they asked was enough to get them fired. This is nothing but virtue signaling and doesn't really accomplish much.
The DPO need to be giving quarry too . Na message wey them send them ,na him them do . Why this is bad is that . Thier give me money knows no boundaries. Foreigners haba !!
THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERYWHERE IN AFRICA ESPECIALLY IN NIGERIA AND GHANA. FROM PORT AUTHORITY TO LOCAL POLICE. TRY BRINGING A CAR FROM ABROAD THAT COST YOU ABOUT 3K TO 5K AND PAY ABOUT 1500$ TO SHIP THEN WHEN YOU GO TO RETRIEVE YOUR VEHICLE CUSTOMS/PORT AUTHORITY WILL CHARGE YOU ABOUT 3 TIMES TGE VALUE OF YOUR CAR IN IMPORTING A CAR. MANY PEOPLE END UP NOT PAYING FOR IT AS ITS THEFT AND THE BRIBERY THEY REQUEST.
Damn. I'm in the US military and if they stripped me of my rank and uniform in front of the camera and everybody else 1000% I would be humiliated for life.
As far as the high and mighty are not held accountable for their "open" corruption, mismanagement of public funds, abuse of power etc, I am not impressed by this act of showmanship.
He who has no sin cast the first stone. If any of those who pronounced the judgement are free from such act may they be vindicated, if not so be it. Mans inhumanity to man. There's no law to guide the people. 😢😢😢
There was a Ghanaian officer too in the same reported video. He rather asked for the tourist’s contact so as to communicate, and he was denied. That could not be a reason for dismissal. Viewers of the original clip were actually laughing at the Ghanaian for not asking for money but looking for connections. People who demand money at borders are what the country should be worried about.
Things were momentarily looking up for Nigeria up until recently when they arrested a woman for giving a negative review on a brand of tomato purée. Can’t make this stuff up.
100% agree!!!! There is even a sign above their heads that states that it's illegal to extort passengers. When you point to the sign behind them (hanging from the ceiling), their comeback is that "they are not extorting you, but you are offering a donation." 🤬
