Give Up Alfred Or Give Up Batman - Alternative Choices - BATMAN The Enemy Within Episode 5 

I hate how if you chose to let Alfred leave its like a fight, I wish there was a smother ending to that conversation, maybe like a love you goodbye from Bruce, and maybe a scene where Bruce takes Alfred to the airport or something. I don't know, still loved the game tho.

If you really are someone who always loved Batman, then this is easily the most difficult question in the game.

This choice crushed my feelings.

In the Joker Villain path, a lot of people have lost faith in Batman, so there's more reason to give up Batman.

As much as it crushes feelings, the best option is staying Batman, we have seen what happens to the world when Batman no longer exists. And it is always worse then it is with him

So, his argument is that Batman creates the very people he fights against. But literally everyone in this game aside from Joker and Tiffany were already criminals before they even met Bruce, usually because of his father. Even then, Joker was already involved with Harley and Tiffany jumped on the murder train REALLY fast.

Is Alfred serious?! After everything they've been through he thinks Bruse is turning into father? Bruce is nothing like him! He kills and Bruce doesn't, Alfred is just being paranoid, besides it's not his fault villains are in town, they all choose be evil, Bruce just tries his best to keep them all from harming people, and he can't always save everyone! Besides Afred can't expect criminals to be the same forever, there was gonna be villains at some point who'd wear a costume and use materials to fight back like Batman uses!

I picked Batman. But I noticed that some RU-vidrs, when they choose Batman it says ‘Alfred is no longer apart of you story’. It didn’t say that to me. So maybe that means Alfred will come back?

That choice left my mouth open wide and heart broken

When Alfred mentions that Batman is responsible for creating the villains he fights, I immediately called bullshit. It's like that trial episode from the animated series says, the gimmicks may have been different but the villains still would have been villains all on their own. Because the truth is, it's the villains who created the batman

Telltale changed almost everything from origins and dynamics but one thing I can’t forgive is how they wrote Alfred. He would never just abandon Bruce like that giving the ultimatum that toxic Exs do

I said just leave because I didn't want to make it sound like I was fighting Alfred. I wanted him to go- he was old, traumatized, and needed a doctors visit and vacation. Apparently that translated into me not caring and ended up with Alfred being estranged. What the fuck?? Felt like a piece of shit so i come here to pretend that didnt happen.

I remember from the final episode of the Warner bros justice league unlimited Amanda Waller actually tried to recreate Batman but was unsuccessful in her attempts until by sheer fate her plan ended up working. When Terry went to interrogate Waller she explains her reason was as quote “The world needs Batman”.

This moment from the Telltale Series is reflected to that last argument between Bruce and Alfred in TDKR from Nolanverse.

Why was it so vague about what the outcomes of the choices were I unintentionally told Alfred to leave and I didn't get the final choice between Batman and Alfred and I feel genuine guilt because I would have picked giving up Batman instantly if I realised what the choices meant

Give up Gotham or give up the only good parent who’s been there for you in the darkest times since day one

With the Vigilante joker path and Friendship path, I think its better to give up Alfred. He has spent half of his life being a butler and supporter for the waynes, He need his vacation + Waller left gotham and Gordon is still getting his job back or probably got it and need's the bat's help

Giving up on batman is basically giving up on Gordon and the whole entire city of Gotham or just give up one butler

Alfred has a point about Batman creating the evil he means to destroy. He was indirectly responsible for Harvey Dent's disfigurement, which accelerated his descent into madness. Bruce is indirectly responsible for Lucius's death and Riddler's assassination. Penguin, Lady Arkham, and especially Vigilante Joker were inspired by Batman's crusade. On the other hand, Penguin and Lady Arkham would have succeeded had Batman not been there to stop them because their main motivation was the cabal of Thomas Wayne, Falcone, and Mayor Hill. Dent would have been attacked and drugged regardless of Batman's presence or lack thereof. By Alfred's own admission, Riddler was a crime lord before Bruce took his first breath of air. Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, and Bane's criminal origins have nothing to do with Bruce or Batman, and Joker would have still ended up joining their pact. With this in mind, even though it means giving up Alfred, I think the best option overall is to give up Alfred. Ultimately, the lesson that can be drawn are: play nice with others and don't get too comfortable. The feds are supposed to work with local law enforcement, but Waller decided to supersede Jim Gordon's authority at every turn. Had she told him and Batman that The Pact's goal was to acquire that virus then they would have been significantly more willing to work with her and wouldn't be far less likely to suspect some ulterior end goal. Bruce and Alfred check the puzzle box for obvious death traps (explosives, poisons, etc.). If Bruce had just asked Lucius to check the box at the Batcave after work, or if he insisted that they check it in the lab, then Lucius wouldn't have died. Still, if Batman had checked surveillance the day after Riddler's death then he could confronted Tiffany much earlier. It's a shame that both options would have little merit in the cancelled Season 3 because they both would have been handwaved with a line or two of dialogue. The smart thing to do would be to have specific scenes address these outcomes, really make the player believe that no matter what, Bruce must don the cowl and cape, and use Alfred and Tiffany as a secret difficulty setting: ⚫Alfred + Tiffany = Easy ⚫Alfred/Tiffany = Normal ⚫No Alfred or Tiffany = Hard

In the end of it the choice don't matter cuz well 1st RIP TELLTALE. and 2nd If you chose to give up Batman eventually what would happen in S3 if it did take place was that some crazy thing would happen in Gotham which forced Batman to come back to save the city again and by that time Alfred will have gotten past the grief and realized he's being selfish by not letting Bruce save the city. If you choose to stay as Batman they'll prolly have Alfred eventually come back bcuz he'll end up missing Bruce cuz Bruce is basically his son.

Ugh this was a fantastic game but this choice just annoyed me. I felt emotionally manipulated, ngl. For one thing, my playthrough of Batman was hesitant about using John the whole time. Alfred was the one that encouraged it. Same thing re: Tiffany helping out and eventually joining in. Same thing with half the shit he later tried to blame Batman/Bruce for! For another, that bs about Batman being like Thomas Wayne was just low. And honestly the whole damn game he was just being such a whiny ass. If he wasn't whining about his health he was whining about what Batman was doing (half of which he'd encouraged in the previous scene). I mean ffs, Batman's out there trying to save the city while everyone turns against him, and then he's gotta go home and coddle his own butler? GTFO. Honestly I think Telltale was just trying to replicate the emotional charge of The Dark Knight Rises' ending, where Batman "sacrifices" himself and then Bruce retires to Italy w/ Selina. The thing is that ending felt right. It felt *earned.* He'd been through so much already -- started out the movie already half-crippled with old injuries, and then got literally broken in half and thrown into a pit. He barely managed to survive, crawl out, rebuild himself body & soul ... and then still came back to save his city one last time. Meanwhile our Batman in Telltale hasn't even peaked yet. He's still pretty new to the gig. S1, you get the sense he's only started being Batman because the citizens still didn't know what to make of him. S2 is repeatedly stated to be just 1 year later. Plus he'd just taken on a protege, made a new ally of Waller (in my playthrough anyway), reestablished bonds with Gordon, and clinched a romance/partnership with Selina Kyle (who he got released in my playthrough). I mean ffs, dude was on top. There's no sense that he'd already given everything he had to give. For TT to try to force that kind of ending didn't feel like closure or completion; it just felt like a cheap knockoff. It kinda pissed me off and soured me on the whole relationship with Alfred.

Personally, Batman didn't create the villians they all created themselves of who they are..

I like to imagine that what the game isn't trying to make it seem like it is just obsession, but rather Alfred just super anxious. The choice you make in this case, can be either let Batman be happy or let Batman help lives.

I love Alfred but asking Bruce to give up Batman it's just a horrible thing all aroun staying as Batman can do more good than one Butler can

I don't care what Alfred's reasons are, nothing excuses him of wanting to abandon Bruce after all they've been through together. Especially in this timeline where Bruce can't rely his parents for his moral compass.

Being Bruce Wayne is actually more dangerous to himself and the people around him then being Batman in this universe of the story. Alfred can't see that?.......If you really pay attention during both seasons literally almost all his problems and the villians he faced/created were cause of his Bruce Wayne Image and Family name This is the one story where batman actually didn't really create the villians and is even MORE needed then ever here.

There is no Batman without Alfred

Alfred is so OOC. Coward. Pure manipulation here in its purest and worst form. So, you don't wanna watch your child die, so you leave? Let him die on his own? Nice. And literally Bruce will die faster on his own without Alfred. Alfred nurses him back to health, tends his injuries, helps with company. Chances something bad happens to Bruce without Alfred not doubled, but tripled, if not more. So good thinking, Alfred, let your child die. I mean, Bruce takes a lot, he could be an asshole. But this thing here is Alfred being egotistical and manipulative.

Basically what we got to do is buy wolf among us season 2 and order for season 3 of Batman telltale to happen

I think Alfred made a lapse of judgement, I think he forgot about Selina. I mean Bruce is rehabilitating her from stealing (well depending on your choices). So I think Batman only create few of his enemies, some are rehabilitated. Not sure for John but depending if you visited him I think it counts?

Hardest decision for sure. I chose to give up Batman. Couldn't bear to see Bruce go through losing his family all over again. He can after all still save lives through other methods, without sacrificing/losing any chance of a well earned happy life after everything he's done.

The most realistic option is choosing batman, in the batman comics bruce says it himself his true self is batman, his subconscious doesnt refer to him as bruce, it refers to him as Batman. Plus, these villains that showed up arent even his worst villains, there will be worse in the future, with superpowers and stuff. Gotham and the world will need Batman when they come not Bruce Wayne

I choose to gave up on Alfred cause the world needs batman and sooner or later he will go back to be batman cause when the villains are out they will try to reach him and kill him also the day Alfred choose to be Batman’s side check ( helper or whatever you would call him ) he knew there will be consequences and running from them will only make the problems worse Gotham and the whole world needs batman and Thats why I think it’s the best option . ❤️👍🏻

I really didn’t like this ending that much mainly because when you choose batman over Alfred it’s just over and there’s not any “ I love you” moments or anything. I feel like it was kind of forced and Alfred would never abandon you or at least not without saying Goodbye or I love you or something like that

I always want to go with a lore accurate Batman in the story. Sure, it’s still his early years as the cape crusader, but he still plan three to four steps ahead of everything. So for this ending, I’m staying as Batman, because the city needs him to show people don’t have to live in fear of a city full of crime. Batman is a symbol that inspires hope to fight the injustice. I would try my best to be kind to Alfred and understand his side of things, but by the end of everything, Batman must endure, and answer the call to protect Gotham. Because after everything, he’s a watchful protector, a silent guardian… A Dark Knight…

I chose Alfred and gave up Batman because Bruce's quest was fueled by trauma of losing his parents and to ensure no other child suffers the same fate but losing his father for that crusade is pointless Batman exists to preserve his parents and but he becomes a reason Bruce loses his real parent hence Alfred is the right choice

I choose to give up Batman "(lie)" for the night so Alfred won't leave 🙂 He's just a sensitive protective old man at his peak emotion at the time.. Later/tommorow he will come back like the usual Alfred... At least that's what I think in that split second decision 🤔

Bruce Wayne is addicted to chaos. He is a lot like his father in the sense that everyone who gets involved gets hurt. Leaving Batman would be leaving his addiction. Most addictions (alchool, drugs) are used as a form of escapism from your true self, and Batman is an escapism from Bruce Wayne because he hasnt accepted himself, or forgiven himself for his father's crimes or the fact that no one cares about him except Alfred (Selina is a big if). I don't think he can just stop being batman because it is the only way he can think on using his dark energy. I have no doubts that if he wasn't Batman he would most likely follow the path of Cobblepot. Alfred knows this, because Bruce rarely talks about happiness or making people happy, all he does is going on this negative never-ending cycle of punishing criminals, he doesn't kill but he does brings a lot of suffering. He doesn't really care about others as you can see how he manipulates John Doe and creates the Joker. I feel bad for Alfred but leaving him is probably the best decision to make, so he can enjoy the rest of his life.

I couldn't obstruct his choice so I chose to let him go without questionning him leaving, the best for him is to leave Gotham. There is no good ending for this. Choosing "then just leave" is the best choice to me. No fight, just goodbye.

I gave up Alfred. I love the old man, but without Batman, Gotham would become significantly worse. and its shown in several other stories where Gotham lost Batman. we also saw in this game crime went down drastically since Batman and the GCPD formed an official alliance. but with how efrective Batman is against crime, giving criminals something to fear, if that goes away, crime would sky rocket once more. probably even worse than before

I think that picking to Give up Batman is the better choice, because 1, If Alfred was never around when Bruce was Batman, Bruce would have died multiple times throughout the series. And 2, I feel like Bruce would become the Arkham Batman, Badass, but practically emotionless. And his identity is bound to get revealed at some point. I feel like giving up Batman will give him a renewed sense of purpose. On my ending, I mentored Tiffany, Lover with Catwomen, (Set her Free), Friends with John, Partners with Gordon, Friends with Waller, and I kept Alfred. I feel like that's the best ending (at least I feel like), for Bruce. He still has the people around him, and has a new purpose in life. The worst ending for me is where you try to bring Tiffany to justice, Enemies with John, (Villain Joker and say "I wish we never met"). Enemies with Selena, Enemies with Waller, enemies with Gordon, and give up Alfred. He most likely will become badass, but practically emotionless, like Arkham night batman. So yeah, personally I think that giving up Batman is better.

The only reason I gave up Alfred was because I knew he needed help and to get away from this stress. And giving up Batman is giving up Gotham and Gordan. So I let Alfred leave so he could hopefully get help and rest.

If Telltale never got shut down and still making the games (mainly this one): would Alfred eventually come back and continue helping Bruce?

What Alfred saying was pure bullshit. Neither Bruce nor Batman created Joker. Joe was already problematic, looking forwards to any sort of violance, has anger issues, unbalanced, has personality disorder. Bruce tried his hardest to control him but he ain't psychologist nor psychiatrist. You can not save everyone. You can not FIX them. Batman tried too, he became his role-model but Joker wasn't a good student. What was gonna happen if Batman weren't in Gotham? Can you imagine the damage people like Penguin, Lady Arkham, Harvey, Agent Waller, The Pact can cause to both Gotham and Bruce Wayne. If Alfred is brave enough to tell me that he wants to leave his family that is fine with me I am also brave enough to let him go.
