I still have it! I’m planning to redo the ceiling and hang the paper roll from there. I think the wall of instruments is great but it can be visually distracting.

Unfortunately not. I have done other states before and the videos were not really watched by many people. These videos do take a decent amount of time to produce so it’s hard to justify if no one is going to watch them. I’m happy to help anyone with a lesson over zoom for any material, if that helps.

How are you liking the XO compared to yamaha Xenos, Bach strads or other similar brands
@LowBrassU
@LowBrassU Год назад
I think they stack up well. All of the XO trombones that I’ve been using have slides and valves that work well and are comparable. I think from a design perspective, they are good but sometimes specific. For example, the large tenor seems to have a fairly heavy bell and I don’t believe there are any other options. I personally own two Edwards large tenors, one that is overall heavy and one that is overall very light. They both have their uses. I would bring the lighter edwards for solos with piano, chamber music, commercial music (when playing a large bore) while the heavier horn is better suited for large ensemble playing or maybe a concerto in front of the group. I find heavier tenors more work to play but often the juice is worth the squeeze. This XO large tenor seems like it would be an easy drop in replacement for my heavier edwards. All this to say, I’m not saying you need two large tenors but since I have multiple I use them when they make my job easier.

@jacksonmurphy1324
@jacksonmurphy1324 Год назад
Are the 16ths supposed to stay constant?
@LowBrassU
@LowBrassU Год назад
My understanding is that listesso tempo means same tempo or same pulse. So in this case, dotted eighth=eighth. This is how Tony Baker, who selected this etude, plays it and also is what he writes on the TMEA website.
@jacksonmurphy1324
@jacksonmurphy1324 Год назад
@@LowBrassU I've always played it as the 16th being constant so it's interesting to hear it in a different way.
@jeremyquiros5483
@jeremyquiros5483 3 месяца назад
@@jacksonmurphy1324I believe the reasoning is that in spite of the time signatures showing the 16th note being the beat, the main pulse is 1 beat per measure, similar to a waltz being conducted in 1. So the l’istesso applies to the main beat instead of the 16th.

do you like xo better than your bachs?
@LowBrassU
@LowBrassU Год назад
I feel like I’m still learning them and at the end of the day they are more different than better or worse. With the large tenor, I don’t think I have the right mouthpiece match for it. I think a heavier weight mouthpiece would match up better but I don’t have a Heritage or Heavytop DW mouthpiece in a 4 or 5 size right now.
