Small advice, try to find "Metric Class 12.9" steel bolt. Dont use 8.8. Its general/normal bolt. Crashbar with broken bolt may grab your leg. And its good to support the engine with car jack, when removing/installing bolts.

@EndlessMoneyPits Год назад
That is good advice. The bolts I used were kind of expensive at $4 each, so I hope and assume they were the stronger type but I didn't think to check. I could have used the floor jack earlier as I noticed some resistance when removing the second bolt. Good tips, thank you.

Thank you for such a comprehensive and easy to follow instructional video. Given the complexity of fitting the GIVI’s, the need to remove so many parts of the motorcycle (always a worry) and the lack of instructions(?!), I’m glad I chose instead to fit SW Motech crash bars to my 2021 model Honda CB500X. By comparison, they were a doddle to instal and would be just as effective in a crash. Also, my experience is that GIVI gear costs a King’s ransom to purchase. (The first motorcycle featured in your video is a 2019 - 2021 model, not a 2013 - 2017 as indicated on the title of the video?)

Thank you! Yes, I can see how the SW Motech bars might be a little easier to install but it was the engine mounts that gave me the most trouble, which would still be an issue with these. The protection seems similar to the Givi bars like you say, but I think the price differences you are seeing are likely based on the country in which you live. Shipped to the United States, the Givi crash bars are just $173 from Revzilla, while the SW Motech bars are a whopping $256. That's an extra $83, or an additional 48% cost for the SW Motech crash bars. So, it just depends on where you live, I guess. And no, the CB500x shown throughout these videos is a 2017 model.

Hi thanks for sharing, I have one question do all of the engine mounting spacers fit in the exact place as before. Thanks Ian.
@EndlessMoneyPits
@EndlessMoneyPits Год назад
Yes, all the spacers go back where they came from.

Great detailed video. I am not able to get my socket into the tube to secure the lower bolt. Is that why you replaced those bolts to get a smaller head? It seemed that you could get your socket into the tube.
@EndlessMoneyPits
@EndlessMoneyPits Месяц назад
Thank you. The bolts I bought were still the same size socket - 14mm. I needed those bolts to make the crash bars fit over the skidplate. Take your 14mm socket to a local tool store and see if they sell one thats a little narrower. Cheap sockets are sometimes thicker than high-quality sockets.

@bjerstad Месяц назад
@@EndlessMoneyPits, I ended up using socket head (Allen) 10 mm bolts, but I’ve come across another issue. I also have a skid plate (Rallyraid) that uses the same mounting point so the bars are about .5” away from the mounting plate in front of the forks. Did you have this problem? I might have to cut down the one mount tube and weld a washer at the end or I just force it to fit, but I don’t like that. Did you have any problem with the fit due to the skid plate?

Can you remove the motor covers without removing the engine guard form the engine bolds everytime? For example to get to your radiator to fill it or other maintenance.
@EndlessMoneyPits
@EndlessMoneyPits Год назад
I haven't tried removing the main panels on the 500x but I imagine they would come off fine. By the way, on the 500x there is just one small panel to remove on the inside of the front wheel well that allows access to the radiator fill cap.

hello, do the nameplates have any use besides advertising? And I could not see where you used the two hardware store bolts :(
@EndlessMoneyPits
@EndlessMoneyPits Год назад
Not really, they're just nameplates. Sorry I wasn't more clear about the bolts. The ones I got at the hardware store go in the lower side mounts where the crash bars overlap with the skidplate. Without the skidplate you would reuse the bolts already on the bike for the lower mounting points.

The bottom 17 bolt... Is such a pain to put in. Where can i find the long equipment to screw in? The extentions i have found are to thick to enter the long hole
@EndlessMoneyPits
@EndlessMoneyPits Год назад
The 17 is the upper bolt, it doesn't go in the long hole. Use the original bolt for the bottom mount, it is a 14mm. If you installed a skid plate that uses the lower bolts too, you need to buy longer ones like I talked about in the video but with 14mm heads.
@Zero_dice

@@EndlessMoneyPits the original is too short if i remember correctly.

@@EndlessMoneyPits what happens if i dont put the 14 bolts? 😂😂😂
@EndlessMoneyPits
@EndlessMoneyPits Год назад
From what I've read, the original bolts are what you are supposed to use. I did not try them because I installed the skid plate too which does require longer bolts. Give it a shot and if they are too short then you can always buy some longer ones.
