The Bonus "E".
@Qopa
@Qopa 5 месяцев назад
It's because in Japanese, every sound is written with 1 letter or 2 letters. There is never a word in Japanese where "book" is read as one word, they have to convert that to "bokku" in Japanese going by their languange rule. Even violin to them is read as ba-i-o-rin (not with L or V). Coz some english letters dont exist in jp.

Even though she didn’t win the money, the girl by herself had the best accent out of all of them! She must have worked really hard to achieve that, it’s really impressive!

Why is an American accent seen as important?
@VocalFox
@VocalFox Год назад
@@user-zi1kr4kd1v it’s only important as the one she obviously studied. By best accent I meant that she had the least trace of her original language (Japanese) present while speaking English. If she had had a British or Australian accent or any other major English speaking accent, I would have still given her the compliment. 🙄 No one else cares that hers happened to be American.

Having learned a bit of Japanese I completely understand where their thought processes are with how words are spelt. The jump from Japanese to English and vice versa is quite different and difficult
@CottidaeSEA
@CottidaeSEA Год назад
It's a common issue when you try to use your native language to try to bridge the gap between languages. When studying languages it's better to work from a blank slate as much as possible. The moment you think "this is similar to that from my language" you are screwed.
@Jacklarkin790
@Jacklarkin790 Год назад
@@CottidaeSEA That’s something I had to do when I began learning Japanese. I had to break that habit because the second I tried to compare it to English I would make common mistakes all the time, especially when working with a different sentence structure. We ended up basically starting from square one with elementary Japanese learning hiragana first and then working on word order and breaking the habits ingrained from English. I’m still considered a beginner in Japanese but I’m trying to get better with it.
@ciello___8307
@ciello___8307 Год назад
Yeah especially with how they pronounce some words. Its different from english. Like they say “shrimp” like “shurimpu” so ofc they would have trouble
@NeetuSingh_7
@NeetuSingh_7 Год назад
the problem builds up at phonetics as japanese have simple syllables which make them think that it might* be this etc etc
@CottidaeSEA
@CottidaeSEA Год назад
@@NeetuSingh_7 That is one of the reasons why I believe it is important to properly teach phonetics in school. I can read phonetics and understand how to say a word, regardless of language. Because phonetics are universal.
