I love it! The white really works since it's in the basement, and the room has lots of organic/natural elements to it. The pops of bold colors really help, too.
Ok, I guess my mind is in the gutter. That white vase thing hanging on the wall looks like a p@*is to me and now I can't unsee it lol......sorry...hahaha
Side note, but would anyone else love a "meet the crew" episode? I feel like there's so many new people working there now and would love to see/learn more about them!
Hi, I don’t want this to come off as rude but I have been told that saying “my spirit animal” can be offensive. So I just wanted to pass on the message and ask that you refrain from using the phrase and maybe just say that you relate or that you felt that. If that makes sense. Again, I hope this didn’t come off as rude. I just wanted to pass on the info.
I agree. And I'm not fond of all white spaces. But here, it works. If you feel like you need more color, add some orange and green accessories. I feel like there's room on the wall with the little flower pocket.
I think it’s important to note though that this is clearly the start of early 00s home decor coming back in to fashion and that is objectively a bad thing
It's not too white at all in my opinion! I think you added so much texture and lovely colors in the decor that it completely works with the whites in the space. - and omg I'm so curious to see how long you will keep postponing painting the door lol -
What about a mirror on your dressing table and a stool/chair to sit on so you’ll have a place to do your makeup? Love the plasterwork and the floating mirror with backlighting!
Looks stunning, love the mirror with the lights, love the bench in the middle, it looks so cozy and high scale at the same time. Rachel pegged it, looks like a fancy hotel. And I LOVE the white- any other color would feel too dim in the basement. Also- this is my favorite series, please never stop with these.
And y'all recognize the bench, right? From the office entry/boot area before the great thrifted cream seating set came in. Talk about use whatcha got. Extra points to reusing and making do while the lock down limits travel, sales, etc. And then once you see it there, it's fabulous!
I love this space! Glad the bench from the office found a good home :P The dressing table/drawers situation needs a cute stool and a mirror so you can sit and do your makeup there if you feel like it, though.
Lol I initially thought Rachel’s boiler suit was an outfit but after seeing many videos with her wearing I understand that it’s probably more of a uniform to avoid getting dirty 😅 Still cute though
Wow I love it! I am so impressed with your visualization power. I mean, looking at the reno before I wouldn’t think the space could be used in this way. Congratulations really! You've done an amazing job! 👏🏽
I liked this very much. I do not mind "whitnes" of it, it is basement and imo you have two options going all white or embracing its lack of light and go super dark.
Paint is actually really bad for brick as it prevents expansion and makes the brick crumble even more. You should always lime wash brick. Lime is a mineral that allows the bricks and mortar to expand and contract over time without damage.
That makes sense for exterior brick thats exposed to the rain and snow and temperature changes outside. Will be a problem in the indoor stairwell? I don't know anything about brickwork.
@@lenah.5627 yes, it would because it's more about the humidity in the air than actaul water. The deterioration might not be as bad, but probably part of the reason it's crumbling already is because it's been painted or covered incorrectly before. Once the paint starts to peel it will begin to take pieces of the brick and mortar with it, because all ithe moisture has been leeched out of it.
Best upload time ever! The videos always upload after I get to work but it finally uploaded where I could watch this while getting ready for work on a Tuesday. Thank you Sorry Girls!
Another fantastic job, Kelsey! I can honestly say I have never even considered painting a room white but white is exactly the colour for your basement. It's bright & clean and a wonderful backdrop for everything else you add. Not boring at all.
OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN REFRESHING MY SUBSCRIPTION BOX ALL DAY AND IT FINALLY IS HERE!! the instagram countdown thing for this vid went off this morning so i panicked cz the vid wasn't up. BUT IT IS NOW SO ME HAPPY
kelsey this is so amazing! you are such an inspiration for me, i want to buy a multi unit home and live there/rent it and i just love watching you live the dream!! it’s turning out so beautifully.
I would do everything to one day live in a home that looks as perfect as this. I swear, I had a tear in my eye at the reveal, haha. Love how every room looks just stunning at the end!
It must be hard in terms of wall colour I agree it would be tough to do half wall or full length without losing light. Could you keep the white walls but bring in more texture down there like add more plaster effect walls? Love what you have done so far by the way x
Kelsey pleaseeeee - I have bangs and I really suffer when I want to do some curls cause I never know how to style it! Please teach me how to do it, your hair is always amazing 😍❤️
I love the concept of this space: large space to get dressed for the day near the bathroom. I don't remember any shopping prepping of the pocket door in the bathroom episode. Will have to go back to look for that. I love pocket doors.
wait, Becky is not your best friend? I always sensed that you two werent as close for some reason but just assumed that just was your dynamic - being so comfortable you don’t have to be so hype around each other haha
I LOVE!!! The white keeps the basement nice and bright and fresh! If I would add anything to the space, I MIGHT wallpaper the ceiling? Or add like, a handpainted floral ceiling a la victorian ladies sitting room?? Something lovely and neutral enough that it doesn't overwhelm the lower basement ceiling?
This is amazing!!! The fact that you shopped items you already had on hand shows that any thrifted finds would have just added to the space but not made the space 💖 This is such a beautiful Dressing Room. But I would call it the Beauty Room 😍
Lol I cannot tell you how many times I've knocked off my string of hearts... I had one propagating and my husband was in the middle of a zoom interview he ran into one of the vines & dumped the water all over him. 😆🤦♀️🌿
All the white looks great. It's a basement space that doesn't get a lot of light. It would probably feel too cave like if you painted it, unless you painted it a super washed out colour. My mom has a bathroom that's blue, but it's so light blue that it looks white most of the time.
To prevent your wall from crumbling you need to apply "Haftgrund" as far as i am informed. That acts like a sealent for the wall. I dont know the english word for Haftgrund (german). You might have to translate it yourself.
Kalsey has no talent or eye for this job. But she is trying... Trying and ruining beautiful things and trying to remake them... The end result is always horrible. I am watching her just for what this time feeling... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
For frosting the window: you can actually paint them with buttermilk! I know it sounds wild, but I saw it on Alexandre Chappels channel (check him out!) and it seems to work quite well!! I would have loved to see Kelsey try - but this video was already a TREAT with all the great DIYs and ideas!
@@kiramiryam208 No - apparently the smell vanishes after two hours. If anyone is interested, this is the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-50QIy6_ehVo.html. It's really cool to watch the milk dry and become more and more opaque.
This was an AWESOME episode, but also, I have questions LMAOO. Is the 2nd floor rented already? I know you mentioned that you already had a tenant but I was just wondering if they had already moved in. Also, what is the door in the stairs to the basement? The door I'm talking about is like a door without handles that you see at 25:50 when you go up the stairs. Just curious :))
I believe the tenant moved in right after reno. I can't remember which episode she mentioned it...maybe during the same episode she renovated the upstairs she finished with a clip explaining that they had moved in? It was around there. And that's a good question, don't think we've seen that door. Wonder if it's decorative or leads to any sort of piping/HVAC/water heater stuff. Or maybe the water heater is in the room in her bathroom with her washer and dryer...hmmm.
I like the overall feel of the space , that lamp shade you made? henneyy that's a fire hazard , so please be careful when you use it (make sure it doesn't get hot so that the fabric wont catch fire).
Do neat 70’s warm toned stripes, in the colors of the lamp shade and yellows... it will add a pop of color without having to feel like you have to paint to a certain point !
