Emily Sydorowicz Goth and emo are both music based subcultures. They have aesthetics, but neither is purely a “fashion style.” You can wear as much black as you like, but if you’re not into the music or subculture as a whole, then you wouldn’t really be emo or goth. That would be like calling yourself a metalhead because you wear band shirts when you don’t even like metal..
I love how she doesn’t hate on any aesthetic. Many girls when they do stuff like that they make fun of other aesthetics but amber is always so positive that’s what I love about her
I worked at Hot Topic for 4 years & I LOVED seeing girly princess girls come in, they would shop around and be so genuinely interested in the goth/punk fashion. & most of the time they would always be like apologetic, and kept saying they werent trying to be a poser. I think its adorable, Hot Topic honestly is all about ACCEPTING EVERYONE. We welcome all walks of life.
We LOVE a queen who doesn’t tear other people down for looking out of the norm, but instead researching up the look and trying it on and having nothing but nice things to say. This is why I love her so much. As a baby bat, I approve this message. 🖤

As someone that you might consider "goth" I have tons of respect for amber. She never once was disrespectful about anything by being mean about the way she made up herself.

Look up "candy goth" "glitter goth" and "perky goth", you could goth even with your aesthetics. You have more in common with a lot of goths I know than you'd think. No. Really. Its such a diverse subculture, and all it would take is a couple creepy cute accessories to male it happen.
Im gothic too! And I've been thinking this too! She's definitely something softer but her place has alot of gothic looks just golden and such so I think she without knowing actually fits very well in the goth community

Grunge is not expensive, like litterally you can found tartan shirts and destroy denim shorts at any thrift shops for cheap. Or just DIY the clothes you already have.

As a goth subscriber I love this look! It's fire! My rule of thumb is: "If Amber did it, I'll do it in black" and this is it! ... I also live for how traumatized George looks everytime you zoom into his face, haha.

Don’t think you don’t fit in at hot topic no matter what your style is!! They have tons of different styles- fandom and cosplay goodies, Victorian style pieces, pastel goth, neon and hot pink, and more! It’s not just “goth”- there’s something for everyone ;)
As a goth myself it was really interesting to see your interpretation!! It's interesting hear someone whose aesthetic rarely falls towards goth talk about how goth might be hot or an actual look when it's your personal aesthetic. I love seeing people step out of their shells, it's always interesting to see what they'll pick out of the experience.
@@Saraa968 I think they're just quite flirty friends but they get along really well so it wouldn't be a bad thing if they were, except the fangirls will get jealous 😂 But as long as they're happy however their relationship is, whether it's just friends or more than that then that's fine.

Alternative is just a general term for styles that aren't "the norm" so if she had used it, it would have been more than fine. I personally like it for myself as my personal aesthetic is a mix of things. Some people have very strong opinions about the use of the term Goth, as a lot of people tend to say you aren't "Goth" unless you listen to the music that's associated with it.
