I was today years old when the comments section taught me how to kazoo 🙃 Big thanks to Sweetwater for sponsoring today's video! Check out the crazy Guitar Month deals going on right now sweetwater.sjv.io/21VJR0
I love Sweetwater! I’m so glad that you said what you said about the Gotoh 1996t, as I also think it’s a better tremolo than a Floyd Rose. I have the Gotoh on 7 of my guitars.
The gigbag situation definitely warrants attention in the demo. That's a move that should give Jackson a black eye. Even when other brands don't include a hardshell, they make sure to ship with a durable, padded gigbag or a softshell.
The pro plus had some shiny frets, they looked really good on video. Maybe, metal guitars are pointy because back in the day the musicians might have to fight their way home.
I have worked on about 7 Jacksons under the $800 level. They have all had fret issues. The hardware is consistently good (the FR1000s that came on my Jacksons have been better than other brands) the necks, electronics, fit and finish is all good. But I always have to check fret level and nibs. The worst was the low end RR. I had a set of SD Black Winters and other upgraded electronics to get install. Fret level was terrible; and the ends of the frets had not been smoothed. I did the install and a full setup. I also had to install cavity shielding. Once that was done, it is a fabulous guitar.
After Fender acquired Jackson/Charvel prices went up as quality control took a nosedive. There have been reports of defects on even the USA custom shop guitars after the operation was moved into the Fender plant.
I believe Kiesel has an option in their guitar builder to have a three piece maple/roasted maple neck but they also have an option for walnut/roasted maple that looks way better. Definitely prefer Jackson’s usage of roasted maple/maple necks for sure
I have a Jackson Pro Soloist SL2Q that I picked up because I didn't have a Floyd Rose. I was really impressed with the guitar as soon as I got it. Fantastic feeling oiled neck-thru, great fret finishing, Duncan Distos sound full and thick without too much of the harsher modern tone that I don't really like. (I prefer the tone of the PAF clone Duncans in my Heritage over anything else) It's exactly what I wanted for an 80s divebombing metal rig.
Im not a huge Jackson fan. The two ive had in my possession over the years have both had cracks betwen the treble side trem post, running through to the bridge pickup cavity. I think the pickup is just to close to the bridge. But the examples in this video look like they've changed it. Im seeing a bit more space there i think. I am however, a HUGE fan of that sunburst sparkle finish! Wow thats a knock out.
Ok, sooooo the Jacson 3x3 headstock simply does not get enough love. I think it''s awesome. They need to put that headstock on more models, especially the V's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've played Jacksons across different price points that were all over the place in quality, so I completely understand someone being soured on their guitars. The only 8 I own is a Jackson with a killswitch, and if it were 2-300 bucks cheaper I'd have thought it was a good buy, but this thing has iffy electronics and the killswitch is a button that doesn't really react how I'd like it to, and I've played others for perspective. The playability is very good, I just don't think a $900 guitar (circa 2018) should need work to be better with those features. I don't know about their more recent lineup, and I've played Jacksons that slay, they're just still an avoid for me when I've never had a problem with any Ibanez I've ever bought, and I've heard anecdotes of Jacksons that costed what my Strandberg did that also had issues. The takeaway is I wouldn't write them off, but I'm not likely to buy one anytime soon.
Back in the day Jackson was so amazing!! high. Quality!!Ievery crazy kid had one with a whammy!!@ don't know what's happening with these great brands!!
Thanks for the video! You’ve probably explained this in the past, but when you say that you used the revv with some IR, is that like into a two notes product instead of cab?
I recently replaced my stock Ibanez trem on a Jem Jr and RG with the Gotoh 1996t. That trem made such a difference on each guitar as the tone and sustain are both so much better - especially in the sustain. I think I can still hear the note I hit last week. Appreciate the reviews.
I would kill for just 1 of those guitar. I had to pawn all my gear to pay bills after getting laid off and you've just got a pile of new gear, unopened collecting dust. Life really does suck sometimes
Hey man..I’m looking for some kick ass drum tracks like what you use… where do you get the ones you use ? But keep in mind, although I’m not new to recording…I am doing this new music on my own with my MacBook Air, Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen, Blackstar Amped 3 100w amp pedal, and a few other pedals…my guitar I’m recording with is 2 Les Paul’s.. 2020 LP Trad Pro V with DiMarzio LiquiFire neck, Super Distortion bridge, and my Epiphone Jerry Cantrell Wino Les Paul Custom with stock neck, and Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickups, and my bass.. don’t judge me bro, a Glarry Jazz bass…I don’t care, the thing plays great for my needs…..but for my Blues Metal style, I need some kick ass drum tracks to use… can you give me any advice or tips or sites I can get them from ? The track on GarageBand that I’ve been using are okay, but I’m loosing my mind trying to find banging metal tracks !! Please help me out man..I appreciate you.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the Jackson Virtuoso and the Charvel you showed during the first unboxing, are they not technically real "super strats"? How similar are Charvels and those Jacksons to fender Strats. I feel like fender gets the best bodies and then Jackson and Charvel get the leftovers and the rest are used by Squire. Not slamming Squire because I have a Squire PJ bass. Just saying.
? USA Fender and Jackson will be using the same wood suppliers along with storage since they are now based in the same factory. Some of the Charvel range and the Jackson Virtuoso appear to be using the exact same Dinky/Soloist outline. I'm not sure which idiot decided to confuse things further by coming up with the silly "Virtuoso" name for what is already a Jackson Dinky. (Soloist has neck through construction and Dinky is bolt on). Apparently Charvel has a slightly different neck profile to Jackson these days, although they share similar measurements on paper. Starting way back in the mid 1980's, around the time Grover Jackson sold a big chunk of his stake in the company, they decided that the Charvel brand would move to Japanese production the "Model" series would be identified by numbers, whereas Jackson was still essentially a USA custom shop and the guitars would have the names. It appears they stuck with a similar approach with the resurrection of the Charvel brand. I have no idea which specific Asian factories are contracted for the various non American made Fender inc. brands so I wouldn't comment on Squire Vs Jackson.
The gold sparkle looks fantastic, but it's close to 2 grand, so a hard pass for me. I just bought some guitars that were under 400 bucks, and they're flawless, so why on Earth would I spend 2 grand? Don't come at me with the fake "inflation" that's strangely leading to record profits, there's more good quality budget brands out there than ever right now. The establishment brands can go gouge somebody else.
For no real reason but I’ve never been a Jackson fan but i really like the sparkly gold one you showed there. Might have to check one out. Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘
The lack of a hardcase + never producing a Pro Series B7/B8 is a big reason why I never fully got interested in Jackson (I don't mind teching my own guitars so a lot of the QC stuff was disappointing but not a huge dealbreaker for me). I gotta have the 27" scale, and if I'm paying $1400+ for a guitar I want more than just a cheap gigbag.
First you make the subscribed % 0 so you could use 69000, and then you affront us Kazoo aficionados by BLOWING into a kazoo? UnSuBsCrIbEd Jokes aside, welcome to the kazoo harmonica gang 😂 also I know it's not your thing at all, but could you possibly get the updated fluence modern 9 string pickup on the channel? I wanna hear how it sounds coil split
i never liked jackson, idk why, some of my favorite artists use and play them exclusively, but when ever I hear other artists with them I tune out for some reason,.. probably a me problem but I feel like every other guitar brand has something, jackson just feels.... bland, roast me, my opinion
Nobody want understand, that American series is not the “ made in usa jackson”! The made in usa Jacksons produced in custom shop! American series are mass produced guitars. The same as the Korean or the made in Japan Jackson guitars. It has nothing to do with the Jackson made in Usa models!
@@zososound What the fuck are you even talking about? A locking nut is a vital part of the Floyd Rose system. You can't use a locking bridge without a locking nut. When you clamp down on the nut, you don't use the headstock tuners again. So you would literally only use the tuners during a string change.
@@Slamthulhu It sounds like you just really suck at changing strings in general. Compared to getting a Floyd level (ie. string tension = spring tension), restringing is the easiest part of setting up that system.
@@Slamthulhu Locking tuners not only add weight to the headstock. but overall cost to your purchase price. If anything, they are one more component that can go bad. Tiny pin pressing against string is more delicate than a string wrapped around a peg.
