just a few tips on ur kata, make it more snappy, more power, and use more hips in your technique. Just thought this would help :D (I am 1st dan black belt)
Also breathing is an often neglected aspect of kata across karate. When you breathe on a strike or block, it tightens your core and the rest of your body, keeps things strong for each move which, especially for a shotokan kata like Empi or Bassai-Dai, is incredibly important. Even if you don’t technically add more strength to the kata, it just looks and feels stronger. All in all, stances seem to be in the right place, just need to refine a few techniques (mainly just hips) but that will naturally come with practice :D (Also a first Dan)
Break the kata I to sections. And work on each section at time. Focus on your timing, stance ,hips, and strength with each section. If your not happy with that section go over it again and again. Dont move on to thr next section.. . Don't just practice the kata as a whole patern .. knowing the kata ,does not mean you know it correctly... development on a kata takes a long time .. I know I trained with gkr for 14yr upto 2nd degree... keep at it ..
