I just included the certificate! I thought about including some articles... it couldn't hurt!! Actually I didn't go into much detail 😅 just wrote a general idea of what steps I wanted to accomplish each semester~~

I'm so glad it was helpful for you 💕 I think many people do contact professors but it's really up to you, I definitely don't think it would hurt~ I didn't contact any because I was too intimidated tbh 😅 awe I'm glad the cat attack was beneficial 😂

i have been looking for a vid reference for GKS graduate media and cmmunication, i just saw this now that ive already submitted. and im not even sure if the embassy received it cuz i only got 2 days to mail it
Can you please tell me what to write in the 'intended major' section of the LOR when three universities has three different name of the same major? For example, University 1: Film and Video, University 2) Film and TV, University 3) Film, TV and Multimedia If I write, 'Film & Video' in the intended major section and send it to embassy for three of the universities, will it be alright? Since, you have Media major, if you've faced similar issue, can you please guide me? Thank you for this informative video ^^
From what I saw last year, Americans aren't eligible for the undergraduate GKS program 🥺 but you can double check the list of countries on the GKS website just to make sure!

Yes I published around one article every month. If you didn't publish any, you can still mention that you were selected and just don't say that you didn't publish anything haha

Hi Denny! Thanks for your support~ The interview process for the US embassy was online and only lasted about 10~15 minutes! The interviewer was really nice and just asked questions about why I wanted to study in Korea and why I deserved the scholarship, so just make sure you're able to sell yourself well and you should do well 😊

Hello Virginia, Thank you for the video, it was really helpful. Now, my question is, did you write your personal statement and study plan in the spaces provided on the application form or you wrote it differently and then attached it?.
You can write about why you're interested in studying in korea, why you decided to major in that field (including your passion), and maybe what you want to do after graduation~
I am also preparing to study media and communication and I am afraid that most of the media and communication programs need a high score level of TOPIK. And I am also worried about classroom communication. Would you like to share tips for my worry? thanks in advance.
I was also afraid of that, but if you don't have a high topik score yet, you can take the language year and it seems like most students are able to learn a lot during that time! I haven't had any classes in korean yet, so I'm not quite sure how the communication goes... but so far all of the KU professors have been very encouraging and the students are really nice, so I think once the time comes, you won't have a problem! Also, I'm sure you're better than you think 🙂
Hi Virginia! Thanks for the video. How did you create a specific study plan (including the courses you have chosen) for embassy track? For me it is difficult to chose the courses because there aren't the same in the 3 different universities
That's a good question! I actually didn't write any specific courses for that exact reason. It sounds like they just want to know your general plan so you don't need to include any specific courses or anything in the study plan :)

It was really informative and helpful :) If you don't mind, could I also ask on whether you included the fact that you had no formal research experience since you did not do a thesis in your undergraduate studies in your study plan? I too, did not do a thesis during my undergrad, so I'm not sure if I should include the fact that I have no research experience (not sure if it would put me at a disadvantage during evaluations), and whether you stated in your study plan exactly if you plan on doing the thesis/non-thesis route? I didn't include anything about the thesis specifically in the study plan (since I didn't have the experience haha) so I think maybe it's better to just not mention it? I basically explained how I wrote the study plan in the video - it was very brief! That's why I wasn't so confident about it 😅 so I think maybe your passion and background are more important than the specific plan since it's kind of hard to predict exactly what you do until you arrive~

But I'm really worried because my GPA isn't the best, average at best. I was stressing so much on whether I should include KU or not haha. If you don't mind, did you have a high GPA or many extra-curricular activities during your undergrad? Would you say having an average GPA (mostly Bs with rare As) put me at a disadvantage? @amberkliz I'm glad you decided to apply to KU! I had a 3.7 GPA which I think is on the higher side? But I think an average GPA wouldn't necessarily disqualify you automatically~ if the rest of your application is solid, I think they would still be happy to accept you 🙂 it's hard to say for sure though, since it's a popular school and they have a quota that they can accept, so it really depends on who your competition is haha

@amberkliz ahh I actually don't think I remember the interview questions well enough to make a video 😅 I remember they were pretty simple though! Like standard interview questions you would have and why you want to go to korea~~ As long as you're confident you should do well! The interviewer was really nice and comforting too 😊

I hope you can help me, my situation is pretty similar :( my major is english pedagogy and i am also interested in applying to the media and communications area for a master, i’ve been going through the documents of “university information” and i think we have to go through every university website and do own own research of the masters available, right? cause in the documents i only see O or X in the “masters” column… 😭
@@virginiasvoyage from what i saw on the website, to access the media and communication masters it requires to have taken 2 courses related to the area (don’t remember the names now) , but i see that you majored in something different, does this step not count for gks students? hopefully you can answer me!! i’d appreciate it a lot, please
