Okay I actually like your ending better

7:03 you actually have a really good point here, and I have thought about it myself. But at the same time, I don’t think Maximus would have thought Commodus would go all out and murder his family. Though, that scene does reflect Maximus’ integrity as a character. The fact that he knew something was wrong when he found out the emperor died. Especially after he had that conversation with the emperor. But, I have to agree, it was foolish to not know the consequences of that. I also wanted to see more of Marcus Aurelius as a character and his history with Commodus. I really enjoyed his character and very well portrayed by Richard Harris. I think that there was much more that could’ve been added between them. But to me overall and to the majority of people, this movie was more than enough to satisfy me by its story. If you don’t look at it as a critic to point out its flaws as a movie, but rather just look at it as a real life scenario, I think you would enjoy it more because of its realistic portrayal of an epic story like this.

This is an historic epic masterpiece for me with a strong story, powerful characters, breathtaking battles, great scenes and an amazing score. Russell Crowe in his tour-de-force performance as "Maximus" and Joaquin Phoenix as the deviously evil "Commodus" in his juicy role! Perfectly directed by Ridley Scott. Saw it in theatres that summer in 2000 and had a wonderful time! I have it on the remastered Blu-ray along with the Soundtrack. I'll find the 4K UHD someday as an upgrade.

I personally love this movie, one of my all time favourite films, and the Extended Cut is even better, in my opinion. I don't have high hopes for the unnecessary sequel though... As if Gladiator needed a sequel!

It's one of my all-time favourite movies, and as a kid, I watched it countless times and enjoyed it every time. Great movie

I actually enjoyable watch it so many times and also epic is best have a strong story and best character and take on with medieval theme and also Oliver reed his last film.

Deserved every Oscar it won in 2001.
