The reason we open our mouth when we put mascara on is because it allows the face to go slack, it flattens out so you have more space to use the mascara. I'm an esthetician, in my 60s, love this channel 🙂

I really love watching your makeup videos Kerry-Lou. You have such a kind, soothing presence, I'd watch them even if I didn't give a hoot about makeup! But I do, however. As a mature women (very mature!!) it's so great to have tutorials by a mature makeup artist. I love the fact that you have hooded eyes which helps me to sort my hooded eyes out as far as applying shadow is concerned. I enjoy seeing a mature woman finely doing a makeup tutorial. I am 66 I've always been into skin care. The women in my family suffer from prematureing ageing, so of course I have deep wrinkles. Maybe you can help me find something to fill with out making it show up worse or shows the light wrinkles look heavier or deeper. I think I have tried everything. Money is an issue, also I am a red head very fair skin. Blue - green eyes. No Grey yet, lol. Also I've had surgery on my face due to cancer. I am going to be your challenge. I have written to makeup company with no response. I also like the fact you use different brands of cosmetics, as I do the same thing. Anyhow I will be following you from now on. Thank you for all the helpful information. Also the reason we open our mouths when applying certain makeup is because it pulls the skin in dirrections to help blending. I am a retired cosmetologist. Great with hair not makeup. 😉

I too have hooded eyes, so I discovered that smaller brush tips make a world of difference. They get into the eye crease and inner corners without splaying the bristles or causing smears.
I think Sephora is wonderful with giving samples! It makes so much more sense to be able to test things because I will return items I don’t like. I think it’s good business

Hi Kerry-Lou, I’m 71 years old and your video has taught me a lot about makeup for the aging woman. Heavy makeup doesn’t look so great on older women, in my opinion. A little goes a long way. I had been told that an older woman shouldn’t go for the Smokey eye look but you’ve made it work wonderfully! I’m older than you, though, and not as pretty as you! I’m going to see how that looks on me. I also have hooded eyes and what a difference you made with how and where you apply the eyeshadow. Thank you for your tutorials, they are quite helpful!

Hi Kerry-Lou!! OMG. This video was the greatest! I went through two cups of tea! The eyes. The eyes!! I need to rewatch this because I'm sooo heavy-handed. It's one of the reasons I shy away from color but with my hazel eyes, I should take a cue from you! The eyes are spectacular. That Milk Concealer--I was thrilled to see that you used it because I have the same one and it lasts a long long time! That Laura Mercier powder? I use it under my eyes to set my makeup so my mascara won't run. AND I brush the excess away with my Kerry-Lou fan brush. Let me tell you, that fan brush is incredible ( as is the foundation brush and the fluffy brush). And thank you for mixing drug store items with higher end items. Thank you so very much! XOXOXOXO

Thought I would answer your question on why we open our mouth when closely concentrating, as with your concealer. Opening your mouth while focusing intently is a response from the motor cortex of our brain. We learn new things every day! I usually watch this type of content for a minute then move on but I came across this video this morning and i think it’s just great!. You’re very real, sincere and genuine not to mention pretty! I think you do a very nice job w your makeup! I’m a mature woman and while I loved makeup as a younger woman I have real problems with it now. I can’t wear it bc my eyes water heavily and the makeup comes right off. I’ve tried all the brands that claim anti-allergenic and still have the problem. I have extremely dark circles under my eyes and I can’t find a product to help. I’m wondering if the eyes watering is an allergy or another reason all together!

I really enjoyed you. I'm 70 yrs young and I've never had to wear any foundation until just recent years to cover age spots because I've always had a wonderful clean and smooth, healthy complexion. I concentrated more on eyes & blush. I've been collecting product gradually so I've gotten quite a bit so that allows me to experiment more. I like the Sephora products as well but I have quite a few brands. Well, ty my Dear. I live in Marion Iowa. I didn't mind the amount of time because you are so very entertaining. Suzie P

I have been watching younger woman apply makeup. I found your channel by shear accident. I love it. I am 63 and fee like I now want to put it on correctly. I hate how so many foundations dry called on or fill in the lines and make them stand out more. I will look at this video again and shop at a different store than Ulta. Thank you so much. I use a wedge sponge on the corners of my eyes when applying to keep eyeshadow from going to far out of the eye frame. I get a nice sharp line that I can blend.

I am 68 yrs old and that much makeup makes me look older. Your skin looks very good and you can pull it off. I do not use colored eyeshadow like the plum you have on. Enjoyed your video. We all just have to do what is best for us. Thank you!

Thanks for the tips on the shimmer areas. I haven't really had the need to apply dramatic glamour make- up for a couple of decades now. Anymore, I prefer to wear a very light amount of make-up when I go to town to do my shopping, basically to even out my skin tone and add a little color. For day to day at home I don't wear any. A few years ago I had my eyeliner tattooed on and it still looks fine. Occasionally I'll enhance it with a little extra black eye shadow when I choose to apply make-up. Lipstick and lip liners have been a no go for me, especially lip liner. My lips have their own natural color and every color of lipstick I've tried over the years makes me feel like I'm wearing clown makeup. That's a great look on you tho!

I only use Innoxa or Garnia BB cream, obviously I'm buying the wrong one, I'll switch to Lancolme I love their products. That milk concealer looks good, might try that aswell. I never needed makeup, only lightly when I went out at night. Stopped using makeup as I aged I found it made me look older. I was doing that wrong too, wrong products for my skin as I've aged I can't wear those cheap brands anymore. You make this look easy. I have no patience anymore to go to this extreme to look good, except when I have to appear on camera I'm stuck spending too long washing off & re- doing my makeup atleast 3times until i have run out of time & have to make do with the mess I've created on my face. Thankyou for the tips, my friends can't help me, they're hopeless too, they don't wear makeup either. You look great.💕 🇦🇺
