British Transport Films' affectionate sketch of life in a great city, tracing the development of the 'Glasgow man'. Directed by Edward McConnell and narrated by Bryden Murdoch, the film also features Wally Campbell and Phil McCall.

Yes, the full film is available on the BFI DVD British Transport Films Collection Volume Two: See Britain by Train. It can also be viewed free of charge in BFI Mediatheques around the UK.

Bad enough the traffic going past the house but SHIPS lol it was a great place in the 60s and 70s as a kid pure pish now kids have x box and playstations nobody plays fitba in the streets now..

Hi there, would you be able to upload your film Man of the Mersey as this features my grandfather as the man who is in the dock office giving direction to the ships captain to guide the boat in....this would be so much appreciated. This clip was also used in the dvd..."echos of the Mersey" but I lost my copy and would love to see it again.
