even if there was millions of chargers that charged in seconds it still seams a lot of hassle. I drove from Oxford to Switzerland in our california on one tank of fuel. that's with air con on and 2 beds 2 bikes food kitchen stuff clothes cameras bbq . don't understand the panic to get in an electric car. great vid maybe keep a desperate dan pie in the glove box for emergencies.

How can you take in the sights when your too busy trying ti find a charging point, the day is wasted.

Charging to 80 percent and then charging again later is FASTER than charging to 100 percent in the first place.

I really enjoyed this video and found it very interesting but I'll be sticking with my old diesel van and here's why. I'm a cabinet maker and a few weeks ago I delievered a large display cabinet from my workshop in Nottingham to a tiny village around 40 miles north of Inverness, a distance of 470 miles, or thereabouts (the round trip was 947 miles) I set off at 11.30pm on the Wednesday night with a full tank (57lts) of diesel and after driving through the night arrived at the customers house at 7.45am the following morning, I had about 90 miles of range left according to the trip computer. After doing about 50 miles of the return journey, I filled up, and when I got back to Nottingham I still had around 170 miles of range left. My fill up took about 5 or 6 minutes or so at the pump and paying in the shop. Now I know that it cost me more in fuel than it would Lee with his electric Porsche, but I had no faffing about waiting around or searching for a charging point, didn't have to stay in a hotel overnight so saved that expense, and my journey was about 100 miles further than Lee's. For the record, my van is a VW Caddy 1.9TDi and is a 54 plate so it's 18 years old. I bought it brand new in 2004 and It's now got just over 236000 on the clock and still going strong. I reckon that because I've kept my van all these years and not replaced it with a new one two or three times over that my van is actually greener than Lee's Porsche or any electric car for that matter as no energy has been used to build me a new van or vans. I'm not having a dig at Lee's Porsche btw, I think it's an amazing car, looks stunning and I'm sure the engineering and performance is top notch, but for the reasons above, I prefer my old diesel van. Keep up the great work Lee, love your channel mate.

See I live on the isle of wight and I drive a 2.2 litre turbo diesel SUV 2005 model and it has a range of 517 miles on a full tank so I can drive from the isle of wight to Scotland non stop and still have another 4 miles of fuel left and it would only cost me £90 in diesel it's a no brainer in my book

This has to be the final straw for motoring enthusiasts! Shit, pot holed roads, speed cameras, average speed checks and now EV’s! The fun has officially gone from driving cars. RIP the once fantastic feeling of driving.

Why don't you take a hot food flask, eat and drink your own wholesome food whilst waiting for the milk float to charge, instead of paying those extortionate prices at these service stations? £3.50 for a coffee at the service station. I pay 80p for a whole jar of instant at Asda. Fill a flask of milky hot coffee and take it with me when i travel. Do the maths.

Electric cars are such a con…you must spend hours waiting for the thing to charge if you can find a charger that works 😂

Brought myself a Yaris Cross Hybrid self charging but of course this car uses a petrol engine to charge the battery but at least I don’t have to worry about range anxiety or where the next charging point is, I just rock up to a petrol station and within 5 min tops I’m away again on my way. I do agree with you battery only cars are great cars and tech inside them are fantastic but without the charging infrastructure EV cars are a dead duck.

Wow, the 6 P’s come to mind. A little research and you would have a less stressful time. Just down load Zap map and you can see what other people have said about the chargers. Also the amount you stopped you could have google EV points at JOG and you would see they have 2 50 KWH chargers and they are reliable. Then again it would have be a boring you tube video if you had of driven from your first charge point and got there. I am a EV owner and it is just frustrating to watch as with a few behavior changes, you would have a much better experience. Also that Porsche lovely looking but totally impractical Also you relied on charge point Scotland it is like saying I am only going to fill up a BP petrol stations. 1 network of info

Lee the A9 road between dunblane and Inverness was upgraded in the 70s and 80s most of the villages and towns that were bypassed on the route have shops, fuel stations, chip shops and probably ev chargers, it's not quite as remote as your making out. 🤠

See.. Lot's of time spent waiting to charge and no provisions nearby at all which is not a good combination. And a sketchy place too. It's like being stuck in a snow storm with no provisions. Or it's like being stuck in a dangerous neighborhood. Yikes!! Too many drawbacks to owning an EV. And you said it several times Mac, could have filled up at that filling station and been on your way. See.. People don't think about the world we live in now. Daylight hours with people around are generaly safer than nights. But.. If there aren't a lot of people around and you have to wait inside your car while it's charging, you could become the next victim of a carjacking, or much worse. I hate to be doom and gloom here. It's just that reality bites due to the world we live in. We are having a heat wave now; shame you missed it. The accident rate on the A9 was horrific before the speed cameras. For everyone's info Currently, there are 30 chargers accessible to the public, with ongoing installations to implement many more. Part of these ongoing installations includes Electric A9 sites at Broxden Park & Ride, Auchterarder, Dunkeld & Pitlochry.

These EV's USELESS. If you are travelling around town where you can charge them at home overnight then that's OK. Long distances, however, they are completely not a viable proposition. You have grave danger in running out of charge if you can't find a working charging point and secondly the time sitting there if you are lucky enough to find a charger is insane. I couldn't run my life like that, not a chance.

I’d ring Porsche and say come and collect this pile of crap and send me a car that runs on proper fuel, I know we have to be environmentally brain washed but hey what about the stress ???? Up yours with the environment,if you can’t provide I can’t help 💁‍♂️💁‍♂️💁‍♂️💁‍♂️💁‍♂️

EV world slows everyone and everything down and many people haven't worked that out, even all this new cashless world frustrates the hell out me, I've walked out of Burger King in the past cos they were only taking card payments and I despise all these new giant sized self service menus, I'm 53 year of age so most of my life has been CASH! Some people love all this new world but plenty of us don't, we're not trained to deal with this new world and because of our age group we are also a bit stuck in our ways now. I prefer OFF and ON - Not go into the settings menu, OFF & ON!!

This ev scenario is a complete and utter load of tosh. Even if the chargers are everywhere, which they aren’t and all working, 40 mins to charge versus 4 mins to fill your tank. No brainier

Fun fact - at 55:50 on the right hand side of that roundabout, just out of frame is a street that holds the Guinness World Record for the shortest street, at just one door width long, Ebenezer Place. My grandparents live in Wick and my family would drive there every summer for our holiday, it’s so interesting hearing an outsider’s perspective about the beautiful views etc, we didn’t think twice about it. It’s a beautiful part of the country where everyone knows each other, very community driven, totally different to the city lifestyle, lovely place for a relaxing holiday focused on family time!

Seems like electric cars work if you only do short journeys and not long ones only if you've got loads of time on your hands to piss about waiting to charge! Etc.

There is a programme called vintage voltage he takes the engine and gearbox out of classic cars and converts them to EV he converted a Alfa Romeo sacrilege.

Uk not ready for electric cars,chargers should be every 10 miles like the petrol stations in the 1950,and they shouldn't be hard to find

Great video, loved it, but I couldn't be arsed with the uncertainty of finding a charging point that works, too much unwanted stress and worry for me. I'll never have an all electric car for this reason. I've always said that until the availability and reliability of charging ponts are improved, I would go with a self charging hybrid car if I were to switch from petrol, no worry there I suppose. As it is, and as I do very little mileage, I will stick with my little ecnomical 1200cc car. I'd give up my car before going all electric. Looking forward to you doing the Lands End trip and seeing how that goes.

Kind of a disgrace that the places that you see have chargers are so few and the ones there are broke. Don't know how the US is in comparison because I don't have an EV. I know it is going to take time to roll over to the EV world, but how long. Also how often do maintenance crews come by and fix charging stations???? i wonder how long that one charging station has been broke. Yes, I have concluded from all your videos I have watched, the charging the EV vehicle process is definitely a Pain in the you know what. Anyway, thanks for your videos so that I have watched. Hi Lee - I don't know why you are bothering to do this exercise when you have already proved in another vlog that electric cars are more trouble than they are worth and the infrastructure is just not capable of handling them...Take the damn thing back put it down to experience give your blood pressure a day off and get an IC Engined car.

I have an ev with limited range which I use for my delivery job,live near Inverness, never had an issue with charging, also have home charging. Think it's easier if you have local knowledge or plan in advance, just done 1000 mile round trip to Skegness, was fine,only issue was queue at chargers,but wasn't in a hurry anyway, think you need to chill a bit,the infrastructure is improving.Loved your walkabouts though,Scotland is an amazing place,for me the variety in climate/temperature is a good thing, couldn't handle heat all the time,keep up the vidz 👍

I am an enthusiastic EV driver with about 50 miles more range than the Tacan, but I must admit this trip would make me nervous. It conjures up thoughts of dying of starvation stranded in a car with an empty battery! Congratulations of being brave enough to do it!

Lee, Turnberry to Alness took you around 8 hours in the EV, AA maps says it is 242 miles and should take 4 hrs 33 mins, Even allowing for some filming this video shows why I am not into buying an EV. Enjoy the trip south, what could possibly happen? :)

You should have plotted your return journey back through Northumberland. Our council is boasting about it's charging infrastructure, and it's a fabulous county.

Good road trip VLOG but a nightmare those EV's. They will never replace the petrol or diesel engined motors. Too much time finding a charger and too much time charging up. Australia is worse. Nice drive though except for too frequent stops.
