I've always felt glasgow as home. I'm English, with all my mothers side from Glasgow. I spent some time living in Cambuslang in the late 90's man it was different then.
My friend lives across from the art deco former cinema , shown at 3:40. He went across to clear rubbish away from it that had been allowed to build up. The odious individual who purchased the building years ago for a pittance rushed over and demanded my pal stop cleaning up. He has no intention of ever fixing the building, never had. He is sitting on it hoping a developer will come along and purchase it. Been an eyesore for years.

He owns businesses in the area which is why he spotted my mate cleaning up, mate is an architect from South Carolina, long story why he ended up in Sunny-G. He is raging about that once beautiful building being allowed to fall into such a state. He did some research as to how it was purchased etc .and what the owners plans for it were. The owner basically hoodwinked everyone.

Govan the Gorbals and Bridgeton were probably three of the hardest places in Britain at one time. When the shipyards were at full capacity govan was some place the pubs were mobbed especially on a Friday. Born on Langlands Road then moved to the Gorbals. Great places with great people but a lot of hard cases and bad people as well. If you want to see deprivation go to Govanhill but watch your back if you’re up there at night Bill it ain’t the best place to be after dark.
That was the Transport Museum across the River Clyde 👌👌 When you were at Govan Cross you caught a glimpse of one of the craziest pubs I've ever been in . Originally called The Black Man it's now been renamed Brechins Bar an absolute time warp. Great content as ever Bill. Hope Joe and the family are all good 🤜🤛
Was never called "The Black Man". The statue outside turned black due to oxidation or some such, locals referred to it as "the black man". Nothing to do with race by the way. The pub, being so close to the statue started getting called same, eons ago. Everyone I know fromGovan calls it The Black Man. Only people call it Brechin's are those annoying condescending/patronizing students who visit it on their "Subway Bar crawls. "

Scotland has some beautiful architecture, they buildings do look really nice but just never kept upto scratch , I lived in Dumfries for a while in Scotland and I loved it , but the country has gone to pot and the council estates / schemes have been hit the hardest sadly

Billy did you know Govan was the old capital of the Kingdom of Strathclyde and it stretched from a little further north down to as far as Mersey ,so included Lancashire.
Go to Greenock billy, the most deprived area in Scotland statistically is Greenock Town Center but there are plenty of crazy scheme's in Greenock aswell
