Orzhov's possibly my favourite color combination. Been running a Teysa deck too except it leans into Erebos, Nightmare Shepherd and Athreos to maximize Afterlife shenanigans. Great video!
Always happy to see your videos, thank you for all the great content! To my surprise, I made it in this one (as the mono white devotion) and you totally would've had me if you didn't get mana screwed. I was so nervous playing against you I forgot to +1 my Gideon!
I played a deck like this for a long time and my favorite part was something you mentioned. I had a player kill himself by using Chandras 3 damage to all non elementals power and killing all my creatures.
in your discard deck video i got inspired by some nice combos you might be willing to make a deck out of it (better than i did for sure). black-blue matches that perfectly. key feature are all nasty black enchantments: Elspeth's Nightmare, Underworld Dreams, Disinformation Campaign, Ill-Gotten Inheritance, Revenge of Ravens, Aspect of Lamprey, Mogis's Favor. When enchantments go to graveyard, Aphemia spams zombies, Shimmerwing Chimera flickers Elspeths and Omen of the Dead, what kills creatures over and over and brings own deads from graveyard back on hand. The Protean Thaumaturge fits perfect, everytime an enchantment enters (all the time) he becomes a copy of the strongest creature on battlefield. If the opponent can't provide proper enemies, there are some in this deck: Gravebreaker Lamia (lifegain & combo with Omen of the dead), Doom Whisperer (strong no daubt), Cavalier of Gales (carddraw) and for final surprise blow: Lotleth Giant. Maybe you can figure out how to make a strong deck and fun deck out of this :) keep on doing and stay healthy
Nice, this deck brings me back :). I would add a 1-of card to eventually get value from the graveyard later in the game when it is filled, not sure how. Sorin? Ajani Reviver of 2-drops (EDIT: Nvm, that one's historic-only)? Something with escape like Elspeth Sun's Nemesis that makes its own tokens or Woe Strider that can sac your creatures in response to a block for a scry and some pings/tokens? Revival/revenge? Blood for Bones? Honestly not sure, leaning towards the 1 of Woe Strider though.
Woe Strider is crazy good in these kinds of decks, I like Corpse Knight too, Nightmare Shepherd's good for doubling Afterlife cards. I love this combo-y aggro though!
Gates deck still stresses me out. "My creatures, board wipes, and life gain are way more cost-effective than they should be because of the one card type nobody can interact with!" (Granted, they didn't have the wipes here, thank god.) So satisfying to see her nail that one.
Great video, love the deck! I run something similar but as a Hero of Precinct One variant with Ethereal Absolution and Athreos (!!!) as finishers. One technical remark: For my personal taste in-games sounds are a little bit too loud in comparison to your voice, but maybe that's just me :-) Looking forwart to more videos, keep it up!
Thank you for the feedback. I'll tweek it a bit in the next recording, which won't be the video coming out next, but the one after that. If you would let me know if it sounds better, that would be greatly appreciated!
I was wondering about Absolution, it's been a favorite ever since I built around it in my first RNA draft, and it's so on theme here. Always just seemed just a bit too expensive to put in standard though. Hope it worked well for you!
I have one of these, but with Ethereal Absolution and Orzov Enforcer instead of Glass of the Guildpact and Tithe Taker (only because I don't have either of them). I can't get it to work as well as you did, haha! I seem to keep going up against either super fast decks or mega control decks
Absolution is powerful, but very, very expensive. Glass is a bit more accessible. I think you could go either way with Tithe Taker or Enforcer, but I wanted more protection for control and flash decks.
I like mill as a concept, because theoretically dealing "damage in the form of mill" should be just as dynamic a way to win as regular damage, and more interesting for being nontraditional. The problem is the bad, i.e. almost entirely non-interactive, card design. Whether mill works or not should not depend on their draw and whether you get your niche enchantment removal in time.
gotta say your one of the better magic players I've seen lately. insta sub here and i look forward for more of your nice builds. Nice to see you stick it to the control deck in the last game
since you decided to kaya's wrath, why not block with the minister of obligation first? could have saved 3 damage. well 2 damage net since the kaya's wrath would give one less. at @44:50 also should she have attacked first at 45:09, then use the kaya's wrath after? only had one blocker so would have gotten at least one point of damage in right?
Nice deck Play this with cards to get my creature back to hand after die. I use Nightmare shepard Woe Strider Ethereal absolution Lunious Broodmoth General Kudro Venerated Loxodon and to get creature back Forever Young and Order of Midnight, Shepard back Minions Return
I have a suggestion, try a Niv Mizzet Reborn deck . It's my favorite deck and it got me to diamond last season. It's so versatile in how you can maken your deck.
I usually play an Esper Doom Foretold deck and it upset me that they included Ashiok in there. It doesn't really add any value to the deck and at 5 mana cost isn't the best sacrifice for Doom Foretold. Throw in some Elspeth Nightmare's and some Dance of the Manse for much better synergies.
Unfortunately you can only make one Shepherd token because it requires you to remove the card from your graveyard, but Teysa would give the tokens vigilance and lifelink.
oh.. i started with that deck when i downloaded mtg arena. always done quite well, never top tier thou. take one tithe and obligator out and put tome of the guildpacts in
Kaya's Wrath is your outlet if the opponent hasn't been killing your creatures for you, you have a Cruel Celebrant out, and they're starting to block out your swarm of tokens :)
I mean, this one had a game where it wasn't just a loss, it was a loss to mana screw - the least entertaining kind. I'm not that worried about excessive cuts.
