So you telling me theres boulders of this stuff out there, and i am over here looking like a crackhead picking the obsidian out of the gravel from work 😂😂😂😂
There are smaller cobbles and chunks around the Buttes, however the higher quality larger pieces require a bit of digging. To my knowledge, we didn't undercut a road.
@@shawnstone4949 a - not really a road, just a hard packed stretch of dirt where a lot of diggers have parked and turned around, and b - next to it, not under it.
@@RoxnDox Have you been there?? I have... there’s places ALL OVER to dig!!!! Its literally right on the roads to pick up in some spots. Just no reason for it.
@@shawnstone4949 Nope, not yet. It’s on my list tho. I was basing my remark on the appearance of the ground behind him, is all. I have seen from other videos about the site that yeah, it’s all over. However, if you are after particular variations of the stuff, the distribution can be very spotty so only a few sites are fruitful. If you don’t care about that, then sure you can go anywhere around.
Been there, done that. One word of caution. Always wear goggles. That is after all mother natures glass. When a chip flies off it will cut you. Gloves are good but protect your eyes.
I think that's a demolition tool for tearing down the insides of buildings... After my trip to Davis Creek I now know that I need one. that clay is no joke to dig in. I had a rock pick and a small shovel it took me three hours to get one boulder the size he had at the end of the video. But it was from the Pink Lady spot and it was frigging beautiful obsidian! Totally worth it. I can see going to Glass Buttes to get Midnight Lace or Triple Flow now.
Edgunsuk, I do, but its been a long while since I made a new video. I teach wilderness/primitive skills in WA and I'm working on a degree. I'm a busy little bee.
blm land. you can haul as much as your hearts desired. my trip up there was not well prepared. the mountain road is very hard to drive up even in a 4x4 truck
@@anthonylehnerz9649 ah, no, you can't take as much as your heart's desire. Regulations clearly state 250 lbs/person/year. Looks like you and your partner got a couple of year's worth there. Regulations also require you to fill in your holes, which most people ignore. However, at some point someone is going to complain (enviros, Indians??) and the BLM is going to impose restrictions or close it altogether.
