The part where she continues to break after everyone calmed down from their joyride gets to me. She's not breaking things just to break things or release some steam. The man murdered her sister and destroyed the only evidence for her justice and he was going to get away with it, launching a new product that would make him even richer and more successful. She's breaking things to bring the place down. Even if there wasn't an explosive infrastructure, I feel like she'd tear the place down by hand, down to the hedges. She wants to enact revenge, and whatever facet of justice she can conjure. She won't stop, she WILL continue.

not only that but the new product Miles would have profited off, would have also potentially killed many people if it was allowed to go ahead. Cassandra knew that, and so in the end Helen's not only getting revenge but she's honouring her sister's last wishes too by taking Miles down for good.

It's Miles's whole "disruption theory" that he describes earlier in the film turned against him. She starts by breaking a little thing, something everything already wanted broken. Those glass sculptures were a Chekov's gun from the beginning, they were going to be smashed, and when she starts, everyone gets excited. Then she goes further and further, smashing the piano, the drinks, and everyone kind of freaks out, tells her to stop (again, like Miles said ). Finally, she breaks the one thing no one wants her to break. In this case, the Mona Lisa. It's actually kind of a genius sequence that I didn't fully inbreathiate until someone pointed it out to me.

Not to mention: That new product would've lit up the world in the worst way possible. Literally.

"If you want to shake things up, you start with something small. You break a norm, or an idea, or a convention, some little business model. But you go with things that people are kind of tired of anyway. Everybody gets excited because you're busting up something that everyone wanted broken in the first place. That's the infraction point. That's the place where you have to look within yourself and ask 'Am I the kind of person who will keep going?' Will you break more things? Break bigger things? Are you willing to break **the** thing that nobody wants you to break? Because at that point, people are not going to be on your side. They're gonna call you crazy. They're going to say you're a bully. They're going to tell you to stop. Even your partner will say 'you need to stop'. Because as it turns out, nobody wants you to break the system itself. But that is what true disruption is."

I like how at first Miles is trying to keep face by acting like smug and these structures mean nothing to him (which to be fair, they probably don’t), but as time goes on his confidence starts to fade as everyone else joins in, and once the larger structure like the piano gets destroyed, he gets annoyed.

1:44 Apparently Jessica Henwick didn’t mean to break the glass in that scene and the weight of it caused it to drop. So that shocked face was a genuine reaction as there was only 1 glass wheel and she had just broke it
@cathyhoffmann7054
@cathyhoffmann7054 Год назад
Yeah I read that too... But it doesn't look at all accidental. I mean, she threw that thing with some gusto... Who in their right mind would think this big glass wheel thing wouldn't slip out of their hands with a heave like that??
@alexandragatto
@alexandragatto Год назад
@@cathyhoffmann7054 They were rehearsing the scene so she meant for it to LOOK like she was gonna heave it. It was all sugar glass so definitely not as heavy as real glass but she clearly misjudged it.

on imdb they say she mistook the explanation of the countdown to be the real one: "In the climatic glass smashing scene, the look of shock on Jessica Henwick's face is genuine: She mistook director Rian Johnson's explanation of the countdown to be the real one and smashed the glass on the floor prematurely - the cameras were already rolling and caught it, along with her horrified face, by accident. In an interview with EW, Johnson called it "one of my favorite moments", and decided to use it in the film, while Henwick commented "I still have nightmares about that moment.""

I always thought that the other reason why she was breaking all the glass there was for them to not shatter and break all at once once she catalyzed the explosion, as a way of reducing casualties and the possibility of death due to flying glasses everywhere brought by the explosion.

The ONLY thing that meant anything to Miles was how people SAW him, his fake ‘nice man’ ‘good person’ character. All the things he did to become wealthy were monstrous. Th friends knew that, but the monster kept them close with fear and the secrets they kept of his evil deeds. When the Mona Lisa was destroyed, the world would hate him. In an instant, the world would see him as he was, a monster. His he had the most well known piece of art in the world in his personal collections. The world would hate him & never unsee the evil. There was justice by revealing evil in the world. Dark to Light.

The security override switch to the Mona Lisa's protective barrier - another sublime and unnoticed example of what a supreme dumbass Miles is. He found success through sheer dumb luck. The man was incapable of coming up with a proper plan, just as Blanc said in reference to the pineapple juice poisoning. The override switch - I get it, you want to have control, possibly show off how you are so rich that you can lay your sweaty hands on the actual, centuries-old, canvas of the painting. And hell, I would do it too. Except, I'd not be so stupid to make the override mechanism reliant on a simple Push-button Switch. No, instead I would have added something like a password, which you must enter beforehand and only then will pushing the button raise the damn covers from the painting. That way, I ensure that I - me, myself, alone - have the means to remove the protective glass around MonaLisa. Also, why would not do something like adding a password system to the override? ESPECIALLY when I was pompous enough to send an invite to a friend of mine who I recently helped ruin and is likely to be feeling very very vindictive against me.
