Such a great song. I had so much fun when I saw them the two times I got to see them when they didn’t cancel because of Daryl’s stomach issues. I was supposed to see him in Head Automatica in Philly, but he had to cancel that time as well. I treasure the two lives so much. I even have a photo with Daryl because my friend used to do their merch and got me backstage at the Trocadero in Philly. It was amazing from side stage. Daryl leaves everything on the stage. He’s an amazing performer.
I have so much respect for this band. You can feel emotion in their music that few others bands can convey so intensely. It's clear in this song he has been deeply hurt by someone in his life. And i have stomach problems but luckily I don't have chromes(which i was tested for). My half sister has it and it sucks big time. Truly respect him for whats he done even with that disease. True fucking hero's to me
Glassjaw, At The Drive-In, Refused, Deftones, The Icarus Line and The Used hold the throne for high quality/passionate music. From First To Last - Heroine and Finch - Say Hello To Sunshine are honorable mentions. It's too bad bands aren't like this anymore...
2nd'ing Thursday and The Used. Finch's first full length ("what it is to burn") featured Daryl and it's so nostalgic to me. Early Every time I die also featured Daryl and is also solid post-hardcore. The scene is still alive! But you're right it's not the same. I've moved on to prog metal/djent lol the post-hardcore scene has just turned into dad-rock/mall metal
If you can, listen to this song after listening to the whole Worship and Tribute album. It ends the album much better than Two Tabs of Mescaline does (even thought I consider that an amazing closer). Roadrunner Records is a dick, not letting my all time favorite album end the way it deserves to be. At least on my iPod it ends the original and intended way. GJ for life
I remember seeing and meeting them at Warped Tour 2003 down here in Florida and OMG. So amazing! They too have gotten me through some times as a teenager.. I have yet to meet another fan but here you guys are. 😀 not a fan of their newest CD.
top 3.you just don't know it yet.maybe when you get older lol 6-8 would have had more respect than a reg ass 5. this band is actually special ^_^ for even their random fans( d&co ) as I've seen have touched ppl I wouldn't have noticed any IQs to acknowledge them greatly. their music no matter what is always God with an extra O(Eye) Good! they're so great they are the wizards of Oz.'s ... sorry s clowning cause 1z with s is still more Z's with numbers haha sorry my friend s is half 8. S is female she still got two halves of eyes lol or 2 gay dude's. she's a x. with the power if she so chooses it , to say fuk it. I was the boss bitch of this now I'm the fuxx bitch of that huh these 3x ain't doing shit. haha when s come back it's to x (work) yeah y'all only sound good with suffering 100z :)
Roadrunner won't release the publishing and distribution rights because the band rightly more concerned in not having Daryl die of Chrohns that they wouldn't tour the full cycle of EYEWTKAS (which includes the original demo of Con and is owned by RR)
In a way, Worship and Tribute is a lot better than ...Silence. It has consistency and the ALL the tunes on the album are great and pack a punch. My opinion.
The way I look at it, EYEWTKAS was pure almost uncontrolled emotion and energy, Worship and Tribute was them channeling all that and really getting "in touch" with their instruments. Honestly hard to compare in my book.
Great songs on both records. Its obvious they grew from EYEWTKAS to W&T. Some of the tracks of the 1st record were written when they were 16/17 yrs old. Worship and Tribute as a complete record aged better then EYEWTKAS. I know they dont care for some of the misogynistic lyrics Daryl covered on about half that 1st LP, but the mellow tracks like Her Middle Name was Boom, When One Eight Becomes Two Zeros, Piano, the Title track, & hidden last track (Losten) HAVE aged well, and I know the fanbase would be so appreciative IF they'd add just ONE of those tracks to the current set they've been playing (I NEVER miss a GJ show in the Midwest EVER)
EYEWTKAS wasnt really a cohesive album, it was more or less a compilation of all the tracks they were playing at that time that they felt were polished enough to be on a full length. thats why they vary so much stylistically. W&T was written to be that way on purpose, a 'concept album' of sorts. they wanted to write another full length and wrote all those songs with that in mind, as opposed to just saying "hey, these are the songs we already have, lets just make an album out of them"
I disagree, mainly out of nostaglia for EYEWTKAS and all it meant to me through my formative years. Peronsally, W&T wss a letdown and never spoke to me. I love convectuoso though, I always thought it was a bridge between the two albums / eras of glassjaw, the last raw song of unkept savage angst and soaring beauty before they leaned into the expected composition and elevated production warner demanded.
If convectuoso did end the album, would it still have followed two tabs or would have two tabs been placed somewhere else on that album? I wonder how it would have worked. Great song and a shame that all that legal craps stopped them from making the album they truly wanted. Same goes for the song Midwestern stylings which was going to appear on W and T.
That line is actually a reference to a Frank Zappa song, "Harry You're a Beast" Palumbo references Zappa lyrics at least 3 other times: "Home of the h(t)it" "On the bus" "My life is such a ball I run the world from city hall". Might be more.
john doe 2 maybe more... one is the demo their label put out as bonus on EYEWTKAS re-release. Pretty sure they were pissed and don't like that version cuz they wanted to record it for real for worship and tribute and roadrunner blocked them saying they'd have to pay a re-record fee cuz they had a demo of it. I think this is the real worship and tribute version that was on early promo versions of the album
I am Caligula Glutton of gluttons Men over women Man over woman The whore over man And I'm all this takes It's not enough to say "I love all of you" And I'll stand over women Glutton of gluttons We are okay in a misguided, sadist way We are okay We are okay in a disabled veteran way We are okay Can I ever begin to imagine? I dived for the tides again I died with thieves again What did I teach you? What did I teach you? La-la-la-la-la That's where I change, right? No? La-la-la-la-la We are okay in a misguided, sadist way We are okay We are okay in a disabled veteran way We are okay So don't confuse why we put you here Or your automation for individuality A sword on my back and your neck and your wrist A notch on my belt is how you shall exist And no more no less for the greater good That's you, American womanhood That's you, American womanhood We are okay in a misguided, sadist way We are okay We are okay in a disabled veteran way We are okay
