We had some failures and some successes in this batch.
Glazes used:
Mayco Winterwood
Mayco copper float
Mayco smoke
Mayco Gloss White - which I am not happy with yet.
Mayco speckled toad
Mayco speckled plum ❤️❤️
Coyote gun metal green
Stroke and coat - cashew later
Stroke and coat - peri twinkle
White stoneware with Grog in this batch.
Programmed to cone 6, 15 minute hold
Got to a cone 6 on the top shelf and a hot cone 5 on the bottom.
Live and learn…. Lol.

I like to take some of the speckles out of the winter wood jar, rinse them off the sift them into fine speckles or large. I add the dried bits to other glazes to create new combinations. Amaco snow mixed with winter wood specks is pretty for a glossy winter wood version. This works with any of the glazes with crystals, indigo rain, aurora green, enchanted forest etc. I’ve also been screen printing with Spectrum Raised Accents lately, those are something interesting to play with if you haven’t tried those yet.

Mamma you messed it up!! Haha what a sweet little one you have there. I absolutely love your pieces. The slip trailing is extremely precise and looks amazing. All of the Ice glazes from mayco will show your textures well.

Gun metal green is definitely a runner. I made some donut shaped cookies to put under the center of pots to raise it up, then put a regular flat cookie under the donut the glaze will run off the side to the flat cookie without sticking your pot. Or if I use gun metal I stagger the coats. One full coat most of the way down, the second layer only goes 1/2 way down or put a stable glaze near the bottom like winter wood. But you had some good looking pieces this time 😊

Thank you for sharing. I have had the same heart ache many times and will soon be having a "Shelf-Grinding" Day as well. Thank you for showing Gun Metal Green, for some reason I thought it was more matte then it is. Grinding bottoms a task for sure, but you may be able to salvage some of your hard work, and repurpose pieces. Thanks again for sharing. and your lil helper is too cute.

Awe thank you!! Yes, I hadn’t had any glazing issues for months, I was due for it lol. The gun metal green definitely came out way shinier than I expected, maybe it works better at cone 5, I’ll try that next time. I’m going to give it my best shot and try to salvage what I can of these pieces. It takes so long to make each one lol
