I had the same problem. I had no idea what to do with the extra wires on the passenger side. No body was showing how to wire or connect the passenger side. Thanks for the video.
Nice video man. Yes you are the only one that shows what to do with the passenger side, thank you!!!!! I installed mine the other day but the weird thing is the DRLs only work in the parking light mode not with my DRL mode. Is yours the same? This is frustrating. Thanks for any help
@@GlazeDc5 ok so today I leave work , I have it on DRL while the truck is running and they worked. Haha I don’t get it. Maybe the truck has to be running for the DRL to stay on by themselves? Hopefully anyone else having this issue can try it and see if it works for them. Thanks again
I just installed my headlights but they don’t do the dance when unlock, you mentioned something in the video why the don’t do the dance in that time of the video, and DRL’s don’t work either, It’s frustrating
Did you have to adjust where they aim at all? After installing mine and using them at night I realized one side is aiming too high and the other too low. I see where the adjustment tab is, will I have to remove the washer fluid reservoir? There’s just not enough space to get a screwdriver in there.
I adjusted it later that night. Needs to be 25 feet from a wall and about 4 feet high if i remember correctly. And no you do not need to remove the reservoir. All you need is an 8mm wrench and your good to go
Those headlights don't come with installation instructions? I'd love to buy those headlights but I need both arms & legs, and my wife won't let me trade our firstborn.
thanks for the detailed video on the plastic tabs, i'll be installing these on mine this week and havent seen a video this detailed yet. i have a 2019 and the DRL and fogs could be on at the same time with stock configuration.
Hello Glaze, great videos this is the best I have found, I see a lot of people having an issue with the passenger side (same here) my side light or corner light (amber) on that side does not work also the DRL when position only for DRL do not turn everything else works fine and does the dance, what could be the problem? this are great lights but installing them are very frustrating, I would appreciate your help with this!
I believe those who had this issue didnt have the DRL on their tacoma prior to purchasing these lights. If thats the case then the wiring has to be different. I havent figured out what the problem was for everyone else. Some people say it worked perfectly others say it didnt. I think production year plays a roll in how its wired. I could be wrong tho.
@@GlazeDc5 thanks for your quick response, I did have them I have a 2017 TRD off-road, is been so frustrating this installation wish Alpha Rex had better instructions
@@GlazeDc5 so I figure while The truck is running they do work in its own DRL position, but when truck is not running they don’t, as far as the side light May be that I did not connect it right, but thanks anyway your video was tremendous help on the passenger side, keep up the good work!
@@danjuare83did you ever figure out the side marker light? Mine is doing the same thing. When I fiddle the connection it comes on and off. But then all the sudden the whole light went off
Truck and lights look great! Is the additional wiring harness (the one you attach to the battery) just for the lock/unlock light show, or is it necessary for overall function? Thank you! PS: The fog lights work with running lights only on my stock headlight setup (Diode Dynamics ambers for fogs), Cheers!
Hey man! So I got these headlights and my 4 bulbs on the passenger side don’t work… I haven’t spliced the wires yet but I was wondering if I have to splice it for those to work?
Aslong as you follow the directions in the video they should work brother. Splicing I believe was only to get the drls to work properly. Everything else should be plug and play. I don't remember off the top of my head since it's been a few years
Why don't they make direct plug and play? Not going to mess up my 2020 wiring to put these in. After watching whole vid , does look like plug and play. They look sic , have to get some!
Actually they are plug and play. The splicing if the 2 wires are from the harness that comes with the headlights. You never splice into your factory harness so you can always go back to oem. The splicing of the grey to red is so it does the light dance when you lock and unlock doors. Other wise it does it only when vehicle starts. Thanks for the support and comment!
Wish i had seen this video before i started. Broke the orange and blue clip as well as the black clips on the fender. Thanfully im cutting them later so its not a big deal but it really pissed me off
So what happened with the red wire on the passenger side? Didn't need it or? Lol I'm a little confused to what thats supposed to connect to like I missed a part or something
Yes they work independently. I can keep the fogs and headlights off and the drl will stay on. Or just fog lights w.o headlights fully on, the drl will stay on.
@@GlazeDc5 cause I did the same thing as you and my my drls under the DRL position in the car does not light up the drls only during the day. However when I put it on the setting with the two lights (which I think looks more like wings) I can have the drls on but independently turn off the fogs. Just annoying to be honest.
Hmm id have to double check that. My fog light switch stays on at all times. As far as the headlights when i switch to drl they stay on at all times. But ill double check on what you said
I am trying to install the passenger side. But my running light and the amber side marker on passenger side do not work. Any advice on what I did wrong?
I’m actually beginning to suspect that the wiring harness may not be compatible with my 2021 TRD Off-Road. As soon as I reconnect the battery the light dance plays and then the white DRLs come on and won’t turn off no matter what I do. Guess I’ll have to reach out to Alpha Rex and hope their customer service is better than their instructions…
Need help! So I installed these headlights and everything works as intended. The only issue I have is the passenger side headlights. Whenever I turn on my low beam, the drl and side markers don’t light up at the same time with the low beam. Driver side headlights is working perfectly. It’s just the passenger side that I have issue with.
Check your fuse under the hood. Start there. Then unplug everything and replug it back in on that side. Not sure if theres a fusw for those as im not looking at the truck at this moment.
Thanks! This morning I tested it with the fog lights with low beam on and the passenger side headlights completely stopped working(drl, low beam) but everything on the driver side works. It’s frustrating bc these headlights isn’t cheap...
Yeah im not too sure whats going on there. Try putting the stock light back in and see what happens. Did you follow everything to the T on my video? Also do you have a trd or an sr5?
I do not believe so because nothing is being spliced. You can always go back to factory by just unplugging everything and pluging factory harness into oem headlights . There is no cutting of oem harness
no 😂 they are just headlights that are plug n play, I installed these and went to the toyota dealership to get an oil change and they didn’t say anything
