Thank you so much! I have always admired this particular combo of yours. The colors are so pretty and joyful. I can’t wait to try it myself soon. Happy New Year!🎉
Thanks! Spectrum has some amazing glaze’s especially their floating line or soft line. Soft white, soft aqua, soft red etc…gorgeous all by themselves!!! The floating line has the kimchi, autumn purple, sangria and more. You will love the results!
@@thehappyhomesteadnh I have been using Mayco and Amaco only then i stumbled on your video, your combos are so beautiful. I hope the clay store have those in stock.
@@RJMPottery me too! I only had amaco then started buying Mayco and spectrum! My pottery store doesn’t carry spectrum so I order them online. I use pearl white by spectrum a lot as a base…their soft line and the pearl white are runners so keep that in mind! Also maybe consider joining their FB groups for inspiration 💕
@@RJMPottery also I layer all those different brand’s together to get some unique combos! I get bored with the same old combos 😂😂 glazing is an art by itself!
Hi there! What firing schedule did u use for these please? I usually have blisters or pinholes on my spectrum glazes. Do you have a drophold? Thank you so much! :)
@@poly_morphling hiiiii!! I fire to a cone 6 with a slow cool schedule…I used bmix with no grog. Which clay body are you using? Also I find less coats of some spectrum glazes are better. Like 2 heavy coats instead of 3 might help!
Omg you just made my night..thank you! Ok ok so I use PRNI sio2 black clay ..it’s the stoneware with 50% grog. Not the porcelain. If you Google it, it will pop right up..i fire to a cone 6 and I use a slow cool schedule..I can send you the schedule..it’s long to type out here but maybe I can send a screenshot somewhere else? That black clay is delicious and soft to throw with. I love it ♥️
Yes ma’am matcha tea 🍵 in a pretty pink kimchi colored bowl 😂 I haven’t tried kimchi but I do eat Matt’s homemade sauerkraut for the health benefits. I love you too ❤️ I’m actually sitting down to write about something and can’t wait to share it all with you when I get to sit with you again xoxoxo
It turned out sooo pretty!! I’m calling you out on having your hubby clean your drips! It’s cheating! Hahaha. Damn girl can you please have your husband talk to my husband because I reallly NEED him to learn how to clean kiln shelves and drips! Haha. I got 8” sanding discos but have so many piece that are bigger than 8” so I have to get 12” ones. They are so dang expensive I just keep putting it off! Great tutorial!
Hahahahaha omg too funny! In all fairness I usually do the disc sanding but it was way easier to film it while he did it 😂 I’m spoiled and OMG I didn’t realize they have 12 inch ones!!! 😳 now I gotta spend more money and get them. They last forever tho. Thanks for the feedback! Happy Hanukkah 🕎 ❤️🎁😘
@@thehappyhomesteadnh You only need the large one for big pieces. I think most are under 10” but if I get the 10” you know I’ll have ones that are 10 1/4”! Lol. I don’t have the Diamond core ones. I got some off eBay. One came with a hole in the middle!! I was so mad! I did buy the really rough silicon carbide ones from DC but they aren’t wearing that well. I use them to remove bits of cookie that are stuck to the bottoms. What kind of cookie did you use for that bowl? You said it was tall?
@@micheledickey4066 yea the diamond core sanders are just incredible along with their sanding pads that are like hand sized. I sand all my speckled sandy clay with those…the pieces I leave raw so it’s nice and smooth in your hand. I either use stilts or a small kiln post as a stilt with a cookie underneath it. I designate a few smaller kiln posts to prop up pieces that may run
@@thehappyhomesteadnh Good idea! I don’t think handbuilt pieces would do as well if they weren’t fully supported underneath. They tend to warp a lot more than wheel thrown pieces. I used to hand sand all of my bottoms with 4 different grades of sandpaper!! It was sooo ridiculous and took so much water. I absolutely LOVE using the wheel to do it. I only have white clays so I haven’t been able to leave anything bare yet. I did get some brown clay from a friend but no idea what kind or what cone etc so I have to make tests! Ugh! Lol
@@micheledickey4066 that’s so true! So my nephew made a big platter with bmix and it cracked right down the middle. We tried again and it cracked in the first firing! Any idea why? I want to hand build big platters but I’m discouraged by cracking. Do you use grog on ur kiln shelf underneath your bigger pieces? Wow that’s a lot of work sanding ..I don’t have that kind of patience 😂 also, I have seen white clay left raw and it’s really pretty too! I bet with the right glaze it could look cool
