Just my 2 cents, but one reason for the greenware running more might be that greenware doesn't "soak up" the glaze as much as fired bisque and so leaves more on the surface to run later when fired. Also, you did mention firing at 04 instead of the recommended 06 - I've found that even a very small temperature change can have a big effect on the glze with both low fire and high fire glazes.

That is actually the opposite. The more glaze you have the more it would melt, not less. It’s very interesting!!!

My grandfather fired geenware and glaze pots with each other all the time.

Depending on the greenware and pieces being glazed, I sometimes do too. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you! What is the firing schedule for single fire? Is it the same as a regular cone 5-6 ? Do you do it slower as far as ramping temp? Thank you for sharing
@CaptMike

I would use the glaze schedule, but opt for a slow fire. Make any sense?

How much water do you add to the underglaze for painting a greenware item?
@CaptMike

I use glaze from the jar. I would think too much additional water would cause the clay to become slick.

Where do you get your clay. What type are you using?

Would glazing with resin make it stronger? I wish I had a kiln

Has anyone ever tried to used leftover glass tiles , from Lowe’s or HomeDepot, to fuse.? Sorry not what your doing now
@CaptMike

Mellisa, you can fuse any glass by itself and to gather as long as it is compatible.

Can you paint the bisque then glaze it or not
@andhemills
@andhemills 2 года назад
I would paint after. Paints would likely burn off in the firing.
