Brilliant Hungarian violinist Kristóf Baráti playing Glazunov's Violin Concerto in A minor, Op.82 with the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra and conductor László Kovács on 9th October, 2012
Glazunov was graduation piece. At that time it was on of the most underrated violin concertos, no-one wanted to play it but it fit my psyche perfectly. I love Kristof's take on it.
This young man is actually the most Sought-After violinist in the world today (the busiest violinist). With so many invitations to play with famous orchestras, it proves that he is one of the best violinists of today. Enjoy this beautifull performance!
Once again, you tube comes up with a remarkable performer. He also performs with little body movements and facial expressions, instead of overly gratuitist body movements which, unfortunately, seems to be temporarily fashionable - ( just another lie of our times) . Although he is intrinsically very passionate, he still seems to feel the true humility needed to play this piece ( maybe why it doesn't seem to be played too often). With no fear of sounding maudlin( offer No Apologies)Glazunov seems to tell a sad story, albeit passionate, that has a verily joyful ending. Thank you, Mr. Barati and hope for you more than the best.
Great playing! I'm just he used the music, especially after hearing him play all of the unaccompanied Bach at the Moscow Conservatory. Still, love Baráti!
This is gorgeous playing of this difficult concerto. I used to think Heifetz and Milstein played this pretty well then I heard Barati. I only wish Glazunov had orchestrated this differently - the instrumentation (and overall accompaniment) is really awkward.
If you do a little research you'll find that almost all fiddle players who perform the Schumann concerto use the music. It is more unusual with this concerto but Barati has chosen to use the music.
