@@heyitsirine16 He and Melissa Benoist (the actress who portrayed Marley) were together in real life, but the two separated. It was recently revealed that he had been physically abusive to her in their relationship. He is not "an innocent man".
ik i used to love this song so much and ryder and the actor himself, and now i can;t even listen to his character in glee because it litterly hurts bc hes such a horrible person irl
@@xh-xw8zf well Melissa who plays Marley in glee and Kara in super girl was abused by the guy who plays Ryder in Glee, after being married to him for nearly 3 years (he abused her while they were in the relationship) physically and mentally, and overall is just a shit person.
I love this song. So much. I’ve always been a Billy Joel fan. And this rendition does not disappoint. He is a talented performer. That said, oh my god, this did not age well. And has become tragically ironic. I feel so bad that he of all people got his solo.
@@mariaesperanzacarourrutia9918 Melissa came out and talked about how she was physically abused in her past relationship and people connected the dots and realized it was during her marriage to Blake
@@boeluvslis You know what Idc about that at all when I listen to this song because the character Ryder was an innocent man and this performance is great.
I honestly kinda hated that Ryder did this number. I get that he’s upset that Marley doesn’t want to be with him, seeing as he’s truly loved her this whole time and yeah he hasn’t done anything to hurt her, but he does need to truly understand and respect that it doesn’t matter how innocent he was (his character, not the actual actor, I know) she was still hurting and still needed time to heal. Whether he’s the one who hurt her or not, he needed to back off and not take it as a personal matter and keep pushing. I know it’s not easy to get over someone, but the least you can do is respect their wishes/needs if you truly care about them. Also I’ll never get over how mad Jake got at Ryder for this. Like bruh he literally completely stepped back because you liked her and she liked you, you literally cheated on her, and then he finally wants to try to be with her and NOW you care and go off at him for being a bad friend???? Nope. Not your place.
this song would’ve been better if it didn’t end in ryder singing to marley, but about her, like he goes and finishes the song alone with his thoughts, instead of asking her out literally 3 minutes after saying she’ll think abt it
Jeez, Blake sure didn't live up to this performance. But gotta give props for the talented performer. I just hope wherever he is now, hes reflected and is trying to redeem himself so he can truly be "An Innocent Man"
Ugh… it makes me sad that I genuinely ended up liking Ryder’s character but with all the stuff abt Blake it’s just hard to separate the actor from the character at times
Innocent man definition in glee: Ryder wants to date Marley after she and jake broke up. He knows what happened between them and wants Marley to know that he won’t cheat on her and hurt her. Everyone else Have no idea what is going on while Jake knows what he is doing and is angry that Ryder is trying to date Marley before he could even try and apologize I like Marley and jake better. If Bree hadn’t shown up, they would still be together!!!
I’m sure you don’t need this answer anymore but: it’s because Jake and Marley had just broken up after Jake cheated with Bree, so Ryder asked Marley out and she was like “nah homie I can’t trust boys anymore” and Ryder was like “ok bet” and so he sang this before successfully asking her out again
