Its because they didn't lmao it's the week before nationals and they have their set list ready to go and Will just sidelines the entire week just for a musical tribute to Journey for the 20th time
@@jonathanellwood2093 in season 2 they fly to NY without a setlist and in 1 night make 2 songs and a choreography for each one, memorize it, somehow practice it nowhere and compete, and they lost (shock) They won nationals in season 3 bc they actually had the songs months before the competition and practice it
Which is why I would prefer to not watch my competition perform. If their performance is great, you’re thinking, “Crap, we can’t make one mistake.” If they fall apart, you can get overconfident and not perform up to par. There’s nothing to be gained from watching your competition perform.
As much as we all wanted New Directions to win this performance is exceptional! They aren’t called Throat Explosion for nothing! And DAMN Skylar Astin you really outdid yourself
Skylar is the fifth original spring awakening cast member to appear on Glee. Rachel - Lea as Wendla. Jesse - Johnathon as Melchior, Tina - Jenna was ensemble and eventually understudy/swing for Ilse, Penny - Phoebe as Anna and Can’t remember ember his name - Skylar as Georg
And that’s not counting who then went on to be in the revival of Spring Awakening! I don’t remember the name of her character in Glee but in case you need a crappy description: the girl in the wheelchair with SASS that it was intended she hang out with Artie at the wedding (pretty sure she was written to be Emma’s niece?) but anyways: Alli Stroker - Anna in the revival Plus, when you watch “Imagine” from season one, one of the Deaf girls is Treshelle Edmond, she went on to be Martha in the revival I feel like I may be missing someone but hopefully not Plus a fun fact: Kevin McHale (Artie)’s boyfriend is Austin McKenzie who played Melchior in the revival lmao
Back here in 2024 and this is STILL one of the best (if not THE best) performances in all of Glee, especially from a guest on the show. Skylar has an amazing, effective, enigmatic presence - he dominates this stage, leads brilliantly, and gives it his ALL. His vocals are on point, the choreography is amazing, and is just... unmatched. When he's walking up at first and making the little robot ticks and then he takes off the mask, you feel it. When his voice goes high on 'the time has come, at last', and the next part? Are you kidding me!? The man is insane and has such astonishing range and he shows it here so brilliantly. Like, I feel it every time he does it. Whew man, you did not have to go that hard but I'm glad you did. Everyone else in the comments bring up the transition and don't get me wrong, that part is amazing too, but the build up to it is earned. The transition rocks, simply put. It's the smoothest transition ever and he slaughters that belt. The whole next part of the song is just... such a delight. I've played this song so many times on its own but I come back to the video constantly as well. It's just amazing. So much of Glee I trauma dumped to the back of my brain but this performance was worth it all.
@JENNIFER LUCERO MEZA AVILA agree. I think they forgot how great jessie st. James at s1 e22 journey to regionals. Bohemian rhapsody will always be the benchmark of all performances of glee franchise. #fact
This felt like a combination of s1 New Directions as the hit newbies and every-season Vocal Adrenaline, who depended on flash-one strong lead singer, lots of great dancers, and visually drawing us in. ND may not have have the flash or dancing prowess of VA or TE, but it was full of talented singers and emotion!
Never watched Glee in my puff, but still keep coming back to this because an excellent song and an excellent performance is, and always will be, greater than the sum of its parts.
As sad as I was that New Directions lost after that emotional tribute Throat Explosion was AMAZING. Seriously Skylar's voice is soo good! I could listen to him all day. 😍
A lot of the performers from glee aren't pop singers, but that is not meant as an insult. They are brilliant performers with marvellous voices who will be there long after some of the so called stars.
Skyler Austin was great in this performance especially at 1:12 even at 2:05 and it sucks that the new directions lost😩 but Skyler Austin was on 🔥this whole entire performance. I really enjoyed this performance a lot. When he won over the new directions I was 😭and 😡. Overall he had a great performance that definitely out smoked the new directions by a lot. Can’t blame him for that impeccable performance he put on then winning nationals. Kudos to him👏👏👏
Or Samuel L. Jackson. I bet he has a Clause in every Contract that he gets to dispense "Mthr Fkr" whenever he deems necessary...lol.. Except his Capital One Commercials..😜
