Hello everyone, thank you so much for stopping by the channel. Today we have another Glee performance! Back when I watched the first season of Glee I remember disliking the character Rachel so much that I can't even remember her voice. I'm going to try to look past Rachel/Lea to see the art, wish me luck!

So funny considering all that has happened. BTW an article I read said "a source" says she's acting so nice to the Funny Girl crew that "she makes Julie Andrews look like a bitch" Hee Hee. Maybe she's turned over a new leaf.

this is one of the best performance on glee overall! and no one can deny this! Lea Michele is an outstanding vocalist, and not liking Rachel is a loss for you bc she's hilarious omg! the show glee is made for you to hate Rachel, bc she's loud, she is career driving at 16 and she's the awkward musical kid that no one likes but is madly talented.. also, the summary of Rachel is that everyone throws insults at her that you're supposed to laugh at bc she's annoying! she's as annoying and crazy as every other characters but you're supposed to "hate" on her bc her most annoying trait is being overly confident in her talent (although she's not confident at all in her look or personality) i realize while watching glee as an adult that Rachel wasn't the villain of the story, even tho the show and most characters were made for you to believe that.. (i disliked her when i watched glee as a teen) but you shouldn't go into reactions with the idea of you not liking it.. i think it's a bit weird.. btw Lea and Jonathan Groff reunited on screen again this year! the Spring Awakening reunion documentary was absolutely amazing and all the broadway cast singing back together was too powerful and emotional!

Thank you for this comment! Rachel was an ott character, but I adored her from the start. She clung to her talent as the only thing that she felt gave her worth and no one else could see that. Everyone else got a pass for their bad behavior if it was in aid of taking Rachel down a peg or two. Talk about toxic. Unfortunately, a lot of the audience also wallowed in that schadenfreude. I'm grateful we had Glee as a showcase for Lea's talent. I miss hearing her sing regularly. I hope they release the whole Spring Awakening reunion at some point, because the documentary was amazing!

Yes, Lea can SING!!! Always loved that one!! The character even improves as the show goes on… this is the end of season 3… soooo good!!

Broadway songs that Glee did that I would recommend would be: "For Good" from Wicked sung by Rachel (Lea) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) "Seasons of Love" from Rent sung by the majority of the cast (from the episode the Quarterback in tribute to Cory) "And I am Telling You" from Dreamgirls sung by Mercedes...it was sung live during the taping. (Amber Riley...who went on to perform Effie in Dream girls on the West End and won an Olivier award) "It's All Over" from Dream girls sung by the majority of the cast Also some recs from non Broadway songs Rise from Season 6 (sung by the New Directions and Warblers as they merge together) was co written by Darren Criss and a few others This time sung by Rachel/Lea written by Darren as a farewell to the show. More than a Feeling sung by Tina(Jenna) and Blaine (Darren)

Ballard are Lea’s thing and this whole competition performance was outstanding. You really should watch all of Glee, it is so worth it. I have some strong opinions about some of the characters but that just makes it dynamic. Yes, some of the storylines are problematic, but there are many more that are just fantastic and the first for the times.

Lea Michele is extremely talented and may not be the best person, but you can't deny her talent! She's also best friends with Jonathan Groff and has toured with Darren Criss who both seem to be nice, so my hope is that she has good in her and is a better person.

Whoopi plays the dean of the performing arts college that Rachel wants to go to. Rachel bombed her first audition so she asked Whoopi to come see her at the national show choir competition which you think she would want to go to anyway since she is the dean of a performance arts college.

There are two characters in the glee club in season 1-3 that aren't horrible people at least some of the time and that's probably because they stay in the background most of the time. They are all up and down to a certain extent. You could also say they are teenage messes taken to an extreme.

Appreciate the reaction and the open mind. Personally, having followed Lea since Spring Awakening, it is my belief that Lea is a victim of people confusing "reel" with "real". To this day, her Spring Awakening cast adores her. When she started Glee, she invited cast members who didn't have anywhere to stay nor a half of a clue, at one time or another to live with her. Diana Agron being the person to do so the longest. Marti Noxon, a writer on the show, said Lea was a professional and she didn't understand the bad rap Lea got when a lot of the guys on the show were guilty of true diva behavior, but their behavior was never called out. A lot of the hate she got during the show was fans of other characters wanting their faves to be featured more and the press ate up the politics of it all. Lea was devastated when Cory died, as they had plans for a future together. She went through a rough patch, personally, and received very little grace. The people who truly know her have never had anything negative to say about her, yet people who read tabloids and WANT to believe she's some sort of villain suck that nonsense up with a straw and spread around it as if it were some sort of virus. The woman isn't perfect, but who the heck is?

I would love you to react you to "This time", it was the last solo Rachel/Lea sang on the show and Darren wrote it himself! If i'm not wrong, they also did a duet of that song on their tour in 2018, so either version would be awesome. Anyway, glad you reacted to this, honestly, this episode had the best numbers, you could totally watch the whole episode :)

Bit late, but the Burt Bacharach covers are really good. They were pretty early in the show, but One Less Bell to Answer is an amazing one imo. They did Make Them Laugh from Singing in the Rain, a few Wicked and Funny Girl songs. Also, West Side Story (Cool is great, but so are the other songs from WSS), Charlie Chaplin's Smile, Home (sung by Kristen Chenoweth!) & Rose's Turn (by Chris Colfer). Not enough Broadway/classic imo though;-) They did a mash up for Singing in the Rain and Rain (?) By Rihanna which I absolutely loathe. It's probably the worst song to me next to Paradise by the Dashboard Light (though the last one is due to me hating that song with a vengeance;-), but it seems to be hailed as one as the best.. No accounting for taste!

You said you didn’t like her in the show. Her character was a power hungry talent that did what she wanted/could. Yes, she towed the line and was incredibly annoying and selfish MANY times. But she does try a lot. You also said “it couldn’t have been bc of her voice” I absolutely love Lea’s voice however, season 1, they auto tuned her voice a lot I feel and it sounds too kiddish. Idk if they were trying to make her sound younger or what. I highly highly highly recommend listening to one of her songs from her albums or watching live performances. You can really hear her talent which is more like this performance

Almost everyone I see who does these reactions to Glee always wants to know what's going on. Is this person dating that person? Why is (insert special celebrity guest star) in the show? Wow, this song is so good! Etc. The fact is that Glee got better and better over the first three years, then took a dip with new cast members (but not as terrible as some would have you believe) and then tried to close it out on a high note, which they mostly did. Yes, the plot lines could sometimes be cringy, but it was a comedy first with doses of drama here and there. It kind of lost its mojo when the character (and actor) of Finn died, but I watched it till the very in . . .twice! Because I simply love good music.

Glee got a lot better about misusing autotune as the seasons progressed. Rachel was sometimes a decent character and sometimes a super annoying character, but at the point in the show where this episode happened (the end of Season Three) I was feeling for her, because of the backstory involving Whoopie Goldberg's character. Overall, Glee really was a cringe-worthy train wreck, which can summarize a great many of Ryan Murphy's attempts at farce. Nip/Tuck was kind of the same, with very inconsistent characterization and a very obvious bias against all his female characters. (Like in Nip/Tuck, there wasn't a single female character who wasn't dishonest, neurotic, villainous, or grossly mistreated by a male character.) However, it's been said in various places that while Glee wasn't always a good show, it was a very important show. And it has some damn fine songs performed along the way.

Well, I've never liked either Rachel Berry or Leah Michelle even way before her cancellation. I just don't like her voice at all, but Glee really had lots of Broadway songs, (another thing I'm not a fan of, tbh). I'll suggest the ones with Naya Rivera, which aren't much because she did more pop/ballads and mainstream genres: "America" and "A boy like that" from West side story. At the ballet- A chorus line "There are worse things I could do" ft Kate Hudson -Grease "It's all over"- Dream girls "Alfie"- movie soundtrack and very theatrical "Make no mistake"- Not Broadway but it's a Streisand song.
