The newbies were so underrated and so underutilized. I like how they brought Kitty back in Season 6, but the others, they seemed to be forgotten. It's a shame. My ultimate dream would be to see Quinn & Kitty & Marley & Rachel team up with each other, and maybe sing a few duets.
Enrique V still not an eating eating disorder and still had a redemption arc way better than kitty’s. Everyone kind off brushed it off. The only one who called her out was Santana. Oh and btw it took therapeutic help for her to come over it and they kinda couldn’t even afford it.
Too bad that rather than " passing the torch " to the new cast as Ryder says in the scene, the Glee producers decided to fire them and write them out of show with no plausible explanation other than a lame excuse that they got transferred after the Glee club was disbanded, which makes no sense. Then we hear nothing about the fates of Ryder, Jake, or Marley (who was not even in the series finale !). Melissa, Jacob and Blake are very talented and didn't deserve the treatment they got on Glee. A testimony to their talent though is that they have moved to bigger and better things in their careers and are all thriving, especially Melissa.
I'll admit I stopped watching Glee towards the beginning of Season 4. These characters didn't really work for me. But then I see the new kids for the final season and think this group wasn't so bad after all.
There were two factors why the fans disliked the S4 newbies. First of all, most glee fans couldn't let go of the past cast, they were still hooked, not understanding that the show had to move on with new and fresh faces. Second, the s4 newbies were (at the beginning) made to look like clones of past characters (Marley-Rachel, Kitty-Quinn, Jake-Puck, etc), so at the beginning people couldn't jump on the ship for the newbies even though they grew to be different at the end with some great storylines. That was the main point of the show getting rid of Lima midway s5, keeping only NYC; which turned out to be a huge flop so they had to go back there for s6.
Leah Scott ohhhhh makes sense now. And honestly Ryder and Marley should have been together. He was so supportive. But it’s a little bizarre knowing what happened behind the scenes
This group totally got dissed after Season 5, with the exception of Kitty. They all deserved to get the proper send-offs like the original cast did. It would have been nice to see them all graduate, especially Kitty. In real life Becca Tobin never attended her high school graduation and she dreamed about it for the whole time that she was on the show. Too bad it didn't happen for her.
I don't actually think they were copies of the original characters, I mean marley is sweet, caring and shy whereas rachel is mostly selfish and confident in her talent, even if I don't like jake I have to admit he was...softer, more protective and more mature than puck, except for like the first 2 episode and when the cheating happpened. Unique does kinda remind me of kurt when she seems so confident, sassy and happy outside but then her insecures and pain show when she's being bullied. Ryder was nice and caring but tbh I found him kinda dull and didn't really care about him until he confessed he was molested but mostly just saw him as the boyfriend marley deserved. And then we have kitty, who reminds me more of santana than quinn just...meaner, but loved her sarcastic personality and I just wish we would've been able to see more of her development cause it's like she's a bitch, then nice, then a bitch again and then nice again. The actual problem with the newbies, to me, was that they had good potential storylines, but they weren't consistent and ryan focused more on the love drama than their actual personas.
Ryan didnt like characters being too real. Look what happend to Quinn. He tried to make viewers hate her. Dont think he understand that people actually root for «villains» too.
And little did we know that it was Unique who was the one pulling the strings to make Ryder realise and accept the fact that she has a truth and he should support that truth!! Crazy man
I wish the kept unique as well as kitty because she was a good character and she didn’t replace anyone well you could argue she was the new Mercedes but I don’t know
when i first saw the show years ago i thought unique was set up to replace marcedes and kitty was to replace santana but after re-watching it as i am older now i see that it wasnt the case at all it is sad tho we didnt get to see them grow in charactor as they could have

If you have to deny your friends with someone you aren’t actually their friend. I had someone who was nice to me even said he was my bf(we were in elementary so take that as you see fit 🙄😂🙄) but was sooo mean to me in front everyone else. Even made fun of me for my deformities and disabilities. So no, kitty was not a good friend to Unique
Ryder was hardly in fault, Unique is the one who tried to *make* him say that he was girl, but of course there was no apology for that. Edit: I’m going to clarify what I believe (yes this is two years later lol): - Unique was out of line in the first place jumping into business between Marley, Jake and Ryder. I think if she hadn’t gone on the offense for no reason he wouldn’t have been disrespectful right back to her and end up insisting she was a dude. - While I agree that they are a Dude (I mean we all know that Unique knows that) I do believe you should be respectful of people and use their preferred pronouns even if you don’t believe it - It was still wrong of Unique to try and force him to say that he believes that she’s a girl, simply just because nobody has any business trying to force people to do anything. Demanding him to call her a girl when she’s Unique is fair, which is what she should’ve done. - Unique owes Ryder an apology for attacking him when it wasn’t her business, and she needs to realize you can’t force someone into thinking the same as you. It honestly seemed she thought she could do whatever she wanted just because she was Unique at the time, which doesn’t excuse her behavior. - I didn’t read all of these replies but I hope I didn’t say anything that sounded transphobic. While I don’t fully agree or necessarily support the LGBT+ beliefs I still respect them of course because that’s just what’s right. I’m sure before when I was first watching the show and just learning a lot about these subjects I was irritated by certain misrepresentations so I probably was not as tactful as I should’ve been with what I wanted to say.
In this scene, Jake, Marley, and Unique are all in the classroom together. Then Ryder comes in the classroom and they look at Ryder as he walks in. Jake stands up, walks to the middle of the desks, and asks Ryder, "you gonna challenge all three of us to a feud now?" "Look," Ryder says, "I asked you guys here for a truce, okay? Sometimes, i don't know how to fit in here." Then he says to Marley, "but, kissing you, Marley....I was so out of line and I'm sorry." Marley nods and says to him, "it's okay." "It's not, but I'll never do it again." Ryder tells her. Then he says to Jake, "look, friendship is about trust. It's like when we're playing football. Look, i fumbled the ball this time, but you know i have good hands. I just made a mistake. But, you know, if you give me the ball again, i won't let you down." After those words, Jake looks back at Marley and Unique and back at Ryder and says, "yeah, but it might take a little while." "I'll take that." Ryder says, as he puts his fists on Jake. "Thank you." Then he goes to Unique and says, "Unique. Look, I'm not gonna pretend like I understand everything that's going on with you, but you have a truth. And as your friend, I need to support that truth, so....you're a girl dude." Unique sniffles at those words, and Ryder says, "Crap. Did I mess that up?" "No, it's just...." Unique says, "that day, after we sang, I decided to walk home in all my Leslie Ugums glory." A flashback appears when Unique was walking home. "And a group of popular girls came after me." She continues. During the flashback, Unique walks past a group of girls as they were teasing her asking if she was a boy or a girl. Then Unique starts walking as fast as she could. Then she runs while they run after. After the flashback, Unique says, "I got home before they caught up to me, but I was so scared." Marley says to her, "I'm walking you home from now on." "Yeah, me too." Jake agrees. "Me, three." Ryder says. "Me, four." Kitty says as she walks into the classroom and they all look up at her. "And p.s., do those bitches go to this school? 'Cause if so, I want their names, so I could put Nair in their shampoo bottles." "Wait a minute, we're friends?" Unique asks Kitty. "Look," Kitty says, "I don't know if it's because I've been dating Puckerman which makes it really hard to judge people. And I will deny it outside in the real world, but, yes, we're friends, and we're in this together. I'm a winner, and I wanna win Regionals. So we need to cut the crap, and the fighting, and tighten up so we can win this." "Friendships like this are tested all the time," Marley says, "and the ones that are real, are the ones that pass the test." Ryder says, "Artie, Tina, Sam, and probably Brittany are gonna be gone next year and it's gonna be up to us to keep the glee club torch. Not just winning competitions, but the legacy of being the only place in the school...at any school where the only special thing you can be is yourself." "You think we're up for it?" Unique asks. "Are you kidding?" Kitty responds. "This place ain't seen nothing yet." Then they all shout happily and start high fiving each other as the bell rings.
Unique can be any gender and that is rude and disrespectful to ask a person there gender especially if that person is trying to figure out who or what they are.
I feel rather ashamed of myself. A few days ago, my friends invited me to a drag show, in which one of their cousins was participating. I declined and said I had to work all day, but they found me at the bakery, two hours after the drag show. They realized I had lied, and when they asked why, I admitted I just didn't really want to go to a drag show. That I found it...kinda disturbing and discomforting for men to wear dresses and makeup. They said they could forgive me for lying to them, because all friends, at some point, lie but can still redeem themselves. They, however, could NOT forgive me for disliking the idea of men in women's clothes. They said that makes me a horrible, judgmental bigot. But look, I care about people and like to help them, but they said being transphobic eliminates all that and shows what I truly am. I...guess I'm transphobic. I don't feel comfortable talking to men in women's stuff, let alone befriending them, but I wouldn't be mean to them. I would be respectful. If a transgender was being bullied or attacked, I would step in and stop the abuser, especially with violence. I may not fully agree with guys dressing like girls, but I would definitely help and protect them. I've always thought that what you think of certain people doesn't matter as much as how you treat them. So yeah, I do think it's...kinda wrong to dress like a female when you're a male...but I would definitely be polite to them and stand up for them. Or is that not enough? Does my "transphobia" make me a bad person? A biased jackass?

Hi there ! Very late for this comment but if you ever see this, know that there is a difference between drag queens and transgender people. Drag queens do dress up, embodie women for their shows, but trans people don't just "dress up", they are the gender they identifie as. In any ways, as long as you don't hate anyone, we don't have to fully understand what's going on in people's head and bodies right ? Just consider talking to people with their perspectives if you'd like to know more, so that your perspective isn't a biased one, ya know ? But you are not a jackass in any way x)
