Everyone, please remember Chris Colfer (Kurt's actor) is one of the casts who didn't even have formal vocal training before the show started. That's some talent!
@@rersmad yeah, but he was only in like the first two seasons. He barely showed up after that. I mean he was decent in season 3 but after season 3 we never saw him till the very end of season 6
@@gonzalobahena5974 Honestly, the musical episode in Flash kinda disappointed me, I thought Darren and Melissa sounded better on Glee than they did in that episode, like they were holding back from their full potential we know they had. Fingers crossed we see them get more musical parts in the future, with Melissa moving on from Supergirl when it comes to a close.
he really is, he was 19 when he started acting on Glee, making him the youngest cast member (and compared to 27 year old Cory Monteith, that’s something). He had NO vocal training at all, and he can do literally ANYTHING - dance, write, act, sing, sai swords! it’s amazing and he’s SO much better than Lea Michele (who i hope lives a life of hell)!
I think it was so sweet of kitty to give Tina her dress and the proceed to walk back into prom in a basic T-shirt and jeans. Bold move Side note: Marley’s voice
Why does everyone hate on Rachel she was the best she might have been pushy and attention seeking but can you blame her. She had these big dreams in a very small town. You have to push to be the best and plus no one really liked her
YES! I remember when the songs for 4x01 leaked (they would always leak a few days before the episodes so everyone would listen to them before seeing the episode basically) most people on Glee Wiki (where I used to interact the most with other gleeks) when comenting on this song were talking about how "Oh, poor new girl, Lea is eating her up. Look at that AMAZING high note, new girl can't compete". And when the episode aired it was revealed that the high note was Melissa's and not Lea's. I never laughed so hard as a fan of the show as I did that day LMAO. She's so criminally underrated and honestly one of my favorite voices on the WHOLE show. And after the show ended Ryan 'leaked'/released the solo versions for both Rachel and Marley and honestly, even tho I think Lea's voice is GORGEOUS, I liked Melissa's solo version better.
I think it says something that Sue could never bring herself to insult Marley. Definitely my favorite of the new characters. I don’t think she was the most “talented”, but her voice has such a comforting quality to it and I love it.
I honestly get chills every time I hear Darren Criss sing “Hopelessly Devoted To You” and Naya Riveria singing her version “Don’t Rain On My Parade” those vocals are in case. Also any episode mentioning Corey.
I love Naya to death but for me Don't Rain on My Parade was not good her vocals at amazing at the song but they are out of the place. This is of course not Nayas but productions fault
@@agnessofiacastrocarvalho774 I mean, not that anyone could sing nearly as amazingly as Freddie, but I do think Darren does a really good job respecting the essence of the original and giving it his own twist, so I think Freddie would be like "Know what? That kid is alright" 👌🏻
Federica Piottoli Santana had Valerie, Tina has gangnam style. Rachel had Four solos (don’t rain on my parade, Get it right, here’s to us and it’s all coming back to me now)
@@Billy24Wiccan06 In Valerie, Santana was co-lead with Brittany and Mike dancing. In Gangnam style everyone sang the chorus. Rachel had solos where she was completely alone on stage.
so um rachel BOMBED her audition but still got in because she harassed madame tibidaux whereas kurt had his best performance of all time and GOT REJECTED??? UM HELLO THEY SHOULDVE HAD KURT GET IN AND RACHEL GET IN LATER OR SOMETHING WTF
@@andricardenas7854 yeah ik but like still i don't think they should've let her in, i think kurt should've been the one to get in tbh instead of rachel getting everything she wanted and kurt getting in later in the series
Like Carmen legit had nothing negative to say about his performance and complimented his singing and song choiceand then at the winter showcase he sang one of the songs she mentioned as a super common one and someone got in with that. Like wtf
in my opinion, i love her voice but in glee she was just a purely intolerable character, i couldn’t bear her in glee, she was a selfish, prissy character that literally ruined Glee’s chances at winning anything :/
@@evetaylor7704 literally i was thinking that exact same thing. like yea lea was whined a lot but girl knew she was a star at least. melissa putting herself down every 20 seconds got annoying real fast
Agree with all of them, i would also add Adam Lambert’s Marry the Night and Lindsay Pearce’s long note in Anything Goes (also Melissa Benoist is so underrated the writers did her so dirty)
@@laughlive8835 I blame the fans and Fox. Had Fox just given glee a spin-off series for the OG's so the main show could focus on the newbies, we would have had a lot more. Bur instead they decided to mix it together. The fans didn't help, all they did was complain about wanting the original cast and didn't even give the season 4 cast a chance.
@@ProphetMisfit09 exactly! Glee had the potential to be the new Degrassi. Degrassi was really good at including new characters while keeping focus on original main characters then transitioning focus later on, and the Degrassi fans got use to it. Glee writers shouldn’t have allowed the fans to control their storylines because the show became a mess.
I think the plot line of Kurt not getting into NYADA until he sings an emotional song without the costume and props is needed. Being able to show such raw emotion at a moments notice is hard and essential. PLEASE DO A VIDEO OF JUST AMBER!
TOTALLY off topic but tina was such an underrated character. sure, she faked a stutter, and did the whole vicks vaporub situation... but still, she wasnt highlighted for her voice until way later than it shouldve been. she has such an AMAZING singing voice and is an underrated character overall, barely any lines in season 3 and 2, if i remember correctly, and it is partially mr. schue's fault because hye would always give the solos to rachel and blaine (he actually deserve dthem but like jenna and dfarren omGOD), and finn. sorry for rambling and such but like tina is one of my favorite characters and she was never TRULY or FULLY respected and shone in the spotlight.
i heard somewhere that amber's 'you're gonna love me' was actually performed real time and the cast reactions are raw and that single handedly proves ambers vocals are superior
Kurt's version of Roses Turn is literally incredible, it's so underrated. And Alex Newells voice is insane. I swear, they're voice should go to a mental hospital for being that sick.
Personal opinion: Amber Riley singing "You're Gonna Love Me" at the end is her best song in the show, and, again in my opinion, the best song in the entire show. She absolutely KILLED that song!
@@cordy2us that's because RIB literally never let Chris be in his full potential and had him sing in his high pitched voice all the time. I think Rosa's turn was the only song that showcased his potential. Chris' lows are incredible, especially for a light soprano. It's the same way how Tina is thought to be the worst, Jenna is freaking incredible singer, it's just Glee never showcased her potential.
I had the pleasure of seeing Alex Newell live in Once on this Island where, no joke...I felt the spirit. The audience couldn’t contain themselves whenever he stepped in the spotlight, it’s a performance I’ll NEVER forget
"Blaine might be a whiny bottom but, he's a whiny bottom with damn pipes": I CAN'T!! And remember when Sue had a plane fly around with a thing that said "Blaine is on the bottom" and he tried SO HARD to cover it up 😂
Omg same about "Not the Boy Next Door" Kurt fucking slayed that audition! HOW is possibile that he didn't got in? And also everytime Amber or Darren open their mouth in a song they make it ten times better😍
And the fact that Amber sang "And I'm telling you" live makes it so much better ... but then you remember that the directors decided to put the studio version on the scene and not the live version
Unique was criminally underused in glee. So much freaking talent. Also can we appreciate that we got 2 of the best solos from Rachel and Mercedes in that one sectionals episode in season 1
8:09 is probably one of my favorite rachel performances ever. the rasp in her voice with the word “band out” and the “my” in “beat my drum” gives me chills everytime
When I first watched the show and got to the ep from 1:32, I cried so hard. Seeing that song be sung made me, a heavily closeted transguy, made me feel so much. Now, 8 months later, I am preparing to come out to my entire family.
3:29 This is one of the most underrated covers in all of Glee in my opinion. I know his character kind of ended up being a douche but this cover actually made me cry. I felt like he just wasn't using his voice to sing but his actual soul. It was so heartfelt and beautiful... Gosh I wish somebody could sing for me like that... Bye I'm gonna go cry now
Also I love the cast's reactions to Amber in that last song. It's adorable. Although I missed seeing Diana's singing in I feel Pretty/Unpretty and Love Song because DAMN she was good in those.
Meg Morrell wdym she sang that live cause heather morris and kevin said everyone’s reactions were real cause she sang it live that’s why she was so out of breath when she stopped
Bryce Williams the version we hear on the show is from a studio however like a lot of the cast when they lipsinc in the episode she did sing along to the cast album version. So whilst what we hear is from a studio. Yes amber obviously can sing it live (she played Effie on the west end after all) and the reaction really was the cast reacting
i get so mad to think that RIB didn't let chris colfer show his full potential. i mean, his high notes in "la jazz hot", his power in "rose's turn"... i just love him so much and wish he was more recognized. this man can sing like an angel, his dance skills arent bad, and he is a freaking ninja lmao
Minji Park ig he just had the right vibe for the character. his audition was very candid and that’s what the casting people were looking for i think he did a drumming thing with cans or bottles. plus finns character didn’t really need to sing or dance well since he wasn’t really there to end up talented but as a love interest for rachel (he was one of the only ones who was meant to end up without a huge art career).
Chris Colfer singing “Rose’s Turn” as “Kurt’s Turn” still pops up in my mental playlist today. He is such a stellar performer, and his songs make me INVOLUNTARILY DANCE. As in, I’m in line to check out at my local market and I start doing little kicks because this song comes into the forefront of my mind. I’m NOT a dancer, so it looks REALLY weird when I attempt sharp pivots in Safeway.
Honestly, Jacob is probably one of the most balanced (both REALLY good at singing and dancing) artist in the whole series, but he is so underrated in this...
"Blaine may be a whiny bottom...." comment got to me thank you for speaking the truth that many people refuse to acknowledge his voice is amazing, and bottom blaine is canon (according to sue)
