Here is my instrumental cover version of "Wichita Lineman" which was first recorded by the American country music singer Glen Campbell and released as a single in 1968 from the album of the same name. It was written by Jimmy Webb and has gone on to be covered by many other artists such as Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Hank Marvin, R.E.M, Andy Williams and Ray Charles.
I played this using my Fender Stratocaster (Bridge Pickup) with the Zoom G2.1Nu with Echoes From The Past (EFTP Patch A9). Recording was via USB to my home PC with Cubase.
The backing track was a custom one purchased from Karaoke Version - www.karaoke-ve...
I also used tablature by Phil McGarrick which can be downloaded here - www.philmcgarri... uk
I hope you enjoy my version of this classic song
LYRICS:
I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searchin' in the sun for another overload
I hear you singing in the wire
I can hear you through the whine
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line
I know I need a small vacation
But it don't look like rain
And if it snows that stretch down south
Won't ever stand the strain
And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line
And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line
