Join me on a stormy ride up to Loch Einich which sits between two Cairngorm giants: Breariach and Sgor Gaoith.
The route goes from Loch Morlich car park and heads towards the Cairngorm Club footbridge. The trail eventually heads south all the way up Glen Einich to the Loch. The return is by the same route
I describe an option of taking a high-level route on the way up the Glen which offers some magnificent views. On the return leg you can opt to take the low-level single-track option which is sightly more technical but is a great descent.
Please help support the channel and consider buying me a coffee, perhaps in return for downloading the route. Thanks.

Mad that you've done all these trips without tubeless. I could never go back to inner tubes now.

Ha ha, yep still rolling on the inner tubes. I’ve seen too many folks havin issues with tubeless, so I’m continuing to persevere……and trying to avoid sharp edges! 😀

Another great video. Last time we did that route it was also blowing a hoolie also. Think we sheltered behind that same rock. Brilliant blast all the way back though 😉

Thanks. The rock is perfect for sheltering behind and is big enough for a group of folks.

Another great video can’t wait to get back up again. Everyone raves about Gravelfoyle and D&G but they aren’t a patch on the Cairngorms.

Thank you - it's a belter of a route that could be combined with a loop down in Rothiemurchus or Abernethy. Have a great and safe festive season too.

Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I had a plan to ride gravel there in October but COVID intervened. Planning to visit there in the new year DV.

Loved this one! I did this exact route back in June in nearly as windy (though warmer) conditions. Must have sheltered behind the same stone up by the loch too. The wind assisted descent was awesome! Kudos for doing that on a gravel bike. I have ridden that route three times now but always on a hardtail & I think I'd always want front suspension at least. I've ridden that piece of single track in both directions & suffered a pinch flat just where you were talking about pinch flats 😂

Glad you enjoyed. Yeh, I was glad to get in behind that rock for some respite from the wind. Fingers crossed - tyres still fully puffed up! 😃

Happy New Year Al, love that route, you defo need to switch to tubeless as it would allow you to blast down that lower section - keep the vids coming buddy 👏

@@TwistyTrails honestly Alan, I have had a few instances when riding at speed where I thought to myself, oh dear if I were riding with tubes THAT hit would have been a pinch flat for sure!!! It just takes away the worry?

We did that route in the summer and my good lady ended up sitting in the river with her bike on top of her. It must have been bloody cold when you waded through!
@TwistyTrails
@TwistyTrails 7 месяцев назад
Ha ha - yep, too cold to sit in, that’s for sure! A drawback of solo film making is that I had to wade through a few times to set up a couple of camera angles. Needless to say, on the return leg, I put my trust in my waterproof socks and just waded through. However, my shoes were squelching on every pedal-stroke afterwards! 😀

Nice vid Al, probably see you oot n aboot the Cairngorms again soon. I think a ride out with skis and then a skin/hike up and back down to the loch would be a cool day out in Spring.
@TwistyTrails

Nice one Pete. Sounds like an epic day out. It also sounds like you’re embracing “curley bars” riding. 😀
@PeteDevlinootnaboot
@PeteDevlinootnaboot 7 месяцев назад
@@TwistyTrails ha no way. I've done that route on a fat bike and also full sus. Both infinitely superior experiences to the silly curly things although most of that route is pretty smooth. Usually have a wee up and down the lairig ghru on the way back just to maintain currency 😂
@TwistyTrails
@TwistyTrails 7 месяцев назад
@@PeteDevlinootnaboot ha ha - yep no chance of getting you on a curley-barred bike! There’s some sweet single track back down from the Lairig Ghru. Hope you’re well.

Given the windy conditions and undoubted cold the photography is excellent as is the route description!

Thanks - glad you enjoyed. As mentioned in the video, if I'd have known it was going to be so wild up the Glen I might have opted for a more sheltered route. However, the weather added some drama and glad I pressed on. 👍

I had the pleasure of doing that route in September last year on full suspension in slightly better weather conditions. Agree that the high road on the way in and the low road the way back out is the better option, either way the scenery is spectacular and the ride is engaging. Well done, keep the videos coming!
