If I look at my collection, I have to conclude that Glenallachie is one of my favorite distilleries. Love the things Billy Walker does. He's a master in caskmanagement and finishing whiskies. Visited the distillery in 2022 and walked from there through the snow to Aberlour village. Great experience.
I have just a few drams left in my bottle that I’ve been working on for about 4 years and it’s incredibly stable if stored in a cool dark location. About once a month or so I invert the bottle and give the cork a couple of twists to prevent it drying out. A solid 87/100 for me and a great value for sure.
I remember the first bottle I had of Glenallachie 12 and was really disappointed with the flavour, I put it back on the shelf for a month and went back to it and the difference in flavour was astonishing. You are right about not judging a whisky by the neck pour!
Eric, I have different 10CS , 12,15, Ralfy 13, 12 Port. Keep going back to the 12! Especially the 21-22 which are very different from the earlier versions. Along with the Bunna 12 the best official 12 I have tried! Marvelous! (The Bunna 12CS’s are mind blowing GA 10CS too!) Merry And a Happy my friend!
My last bottle of this was from 2020 and was much lighter in colour so I imagine the casking was quite different. Really enjoyed it and have been working my way through the other expressions since then. I didn’t love the 15 but the 10 CS is consistently excellent
