Great tasting notes. It's been a while since I had both of these. The Glendronach spent the whole 15 years in sherry casks. The Glenalliche were refill casks Billy got when he bought the distillery that he re casked in some wet sherry casks. From memory, I found the Glenalliche to be kind of muted compared to a lot of other sherry bombs in it's range. Cheers Wade

The GlenDronach 15 has been on my "to get" list for a while. I am overloaded with sherry single malts right now so it's going to have to wait just a little longer. Sounds like a tough decision to make between two good bottles. Nice job Wade. Cheers!

Great comparison mate. Both seem to stack up, just depends on what your palate leans towards. I actually haven’t had either (only the older non chill 15yo GD) but I’d probably prefer the GlenAllachie based on your notes. Fun fact on the “fake banana” lollies though. That flavour doesn’t taste exactly like bananas, not because it’s artificial, but because it was made to taste like a type of banana that was completely wiped out by disease in the 1950s.

Muy buen video muy amigo muchas gracias x tus valiosos aportes y como siempre gran descripción y narración de esos 2 enormes whiskhys, lamentablemente no llegue a probarlos aún ni al Glendronach 15 ni al GlenAllachie 15 así que tendremos muy presente y en cuenta tu cata para futuras compras si tengo el Glenfarclas 15 excelente whiskhy y tengo los niños de 12 años del Glendronach 12 , GlenAllachie 12, Bunnahabhain 12, Tamdhu 12 y el Edradour 12, 5 enormes whiskhys 🥃🥃 y todos los compre gracias a tus fabulosas reseñas y videos, muchas gracias my Bro 🥃🥃

I miss the old 'Dronach. But the new Glenallachies are absolutely phenomenal. If I had to buy two new bottles it would be the Allachie, if I had my choice of old bottles as well as new, id buy the Dronach.

My two favorite scotches (or favourite, if you prefer). I love both, but I don’t find them similar at all, which is why I keep both in my shelf. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a leathery, tobaccoey Glendronach 15, and sometimes I want a rich, fruity GlenAllachie 15.

100% They are different and excellent flavour profiles which is why I too keep both on my shelf, along with many other GlenDronach and GlenAllachie expressions. Great distilleries! Appreciate the favourite spelling too Brad 😉

I still need to do a side by side, but having tasted the older GlenDronach 15 (not so old but still unchillfiltered) and having recently gotten the new version, I was so, so disappointed that I may be biased to say I much, much prefer the GlenAllachie 15. But again, I may be biased due to my disappointment (the previous version was on another level completely) so only a side by side can confirm this. The new filtered GlenDronach 12 and 15 are major disappointments for me and I'll never buy them again. I also got the GlenDronach 18 recently and although it doesn't even come close to the previous unchillfiltered version, it's still one hell of a good whisky, so I may get it again if the price is right (it won't be. lol) My GD 15 still has a long way to go, hopefully I'll come around it.

I really need to give GlenAllachie a try, but every time I go into a shop I get seduced by peat monsters. I've been forcing myself to get more unpeated stuff and been glad I have been diversifying my bonds.

👐 Diversify your bonds! Like the Wu reference 😉 I too lean into the world of peat (first love), but there are some absolute stunning whiskies out there that I am sure you will love just as much! Good luck hunting!

Oh snap, these are staples that should try my friend! I think the Glenfarclas 15 is the sweet spot in their core line up, but I will say that I would take either of these two over the GF15 every day of the week 🙊
