My father gave me (a bourbon lover) a bottle of this (no age statement) for Christmas. It's incredibly good!

Couldn’t find an age statement in the labeling of the new box. But flavor wise it’s amazing!

Compared to the 12 year old, the Sauternes cask is way more intense. However the strong alcoholic sting could also mean it's YOUNGER than the old one... there was a limited 15 year old edition in 2012. The new one is very similar but of course 15 years was smoother no matter how long the finishing period was. I like the new version!

sauternes wine grapes are piqued when optimal botrytis conditions occur. They are NOT floor dried...... not to be confused with Amarone winemaking where fresh berries are sundried on straw mats on racks or in drying rooms until they reach sultana like appearance...

Surprised that there’s no mention of Botrytis, the “noble rot” that concentrates Sauternes grapes and gives the unique spice flavor.

Almost has an aftertaste similar to brushing your teeth with a high baking soda toothpaste after eating something sweet. Lol. I think that’s the noble rot you’re referring to. I enjoy it, despite the odd description

What deos it “it matured in x cask and finished in y cask” means? It finished in sauternes casks for 5 minutes of 5 years... ?

Matured in ex bourbon American Oak casks for ten years, then finished in Sauternes casks for two years.
