He made great music, The Ascension is one of the best albums ever made imo, and he was absolutely right about how this world is a fucking hopeless mess. rip
Glenn Branca a double plus good American avant guard composer 10 feet. tall..Thurston and Lee were in the group and Page from Helmet. ...Monster influence
I found this music really awesome and still fresh, it's my favourite when wake up morning and MUST go to work. It's a lot better as I don't know why, but I feel harmony in dissonance. Maybe there's some simple explanation, but I don't bother.
just discovering branca due to a tinymixtapes review of sheer hellish miama mentioning sunn and branca in the same sentance. FUCKING WHY HAS IT TAKEN THIS LONG TO DISCOVER THIS ARTIST! FUCKING LOVING IT!
The name of the song being played throughout the interview is a live version of "Theoretical Girls", by the band of the same name, fronted by Glenn Branca.
It's actually the studio version. It was also not written by Branca. It was written by the Group's other creative head, Jeffrey Lohn. It was every but as much his group as it was branca's.
Idk if you all remember your really old Simpsons episodes but Branca sounds a SHITTON like that old psychiatrist character from the early seasons (Marvin Monroe)
Ranaldo played and recorded with Branca in the early days - check out the CD "Lesson 1". Thurston Moore is on one track too, but this was pre-Sonic Youth.
His music is amazing, but it's funny how he starts out saying he (and everyone else) doesn't really have a clue about the world but still seems to have no doubt it's a "fucking shithole".
What a pathetic human being... But at least he's honest about how he feels. The TRUTH about human existence is simple. We are here to recognize that we are all sinners and that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. Once we get to that level of understanding, then we can graduate to the next level of existence when our bodies finally give out and liberate our true immortal selves.
