*Greenwald is possibly the best speaker of his generation.* He speaks with brilliant sentences that he comes up with on the fly with an instant ease while for regular people such myself it would require writing the speech down and countless polishing the text, and even then I would not be to read it as clearly and strongly as Glenn speaks his mind on the fly. No wonder he was a top performing lawyer before switching to journalism. I bet each case he has participated in can be used for studying the art of legal defense.
Agreed. He never stutters , like uhhh uhhh even when answering q&a . He is not close to Chomsky but Glenn , Yanis , Hedges, Scahill etc. are some of the popular names . And there is so many Authors that their books collect dust.
He is BETTER than Chomsky. Chomsky is a fucking MUMBLER who seems to have forgotten that he should speak to PEOPLE, not to himself. Half of the Chomsky videos on RU-vid are unintelligible and that is not a good place to be for a man with important thoughts to share. Speak up, man, why the hell can't you be more like Glenn Greenwald?!
How I shared this on FB: If you want to hear a clear, if intellectual, analysis of how current power politics persuade us, the public, to focus our energies where they will do the power elite the least harm, this is it. The path forward is clearer when we understand what is happening and where to focus our efforts to protect our rights.
This man is consistently on point. I really can't think of any area where I disagree with him. He sticks to our constitutional principles and helps me to understand many subjects. When I first saw him on Democracy Now he was always so serious, but I see that he actually has a sense of humor. I enjoy his appearances on Jimmy Dore too.
"Partisan opportunism is a much greater force in American political life than rational discourse. That's a lesson I learned the hard way." Incredible quote.
@ 41:25 `partisan opportunism is a much greater force in American political life than rational discourse, that was a lesson I learned the hard way` ... figure out what your principles are, don't break them nor succumb to let others break them regardless of whose controlling the levers of power at the moment ...
Many intelligent, US-loving voters simply realized it was time to stop the rampant corruption and voted for the non-politician. We're glad other people are figuring it out now too.
I wish Glenn Greenwald would get together with someone like Brendan O'Neill. They're making some of the same claims from different ideological perspectives - one soberly describing this phenomenon who would otherwise be critical of it, and the other describing it in the same way but as a champion of it. I'm sure they would have a great conversation (after a little practice and discipline) and get more to the root of this strand of populism in the western world.
You can have my password to FB, my gmail, and my online banking, no problem (just don't mess with the entries), but you're going to be bored!))) Who in the right mind would put the info they share with their attorney or psychiatrist on Facebook?!)) Now, forcing or obligating an attorney or a psychiatrist to share that information with a government - that's an entirely different story.
Greenwald's integrity confirms what he told the press after he spoke to Edward Snowden by phone after Snowden landed in Moscow. Greenwald then told the Associated Press and others that Snowden had a massive amount of secrets he intended to trade for asylum in an oppressive police state. The fact that Snowden never denied what Greenwald said and the continuation of their friendship after Greenwald told the world that Snowden sold out his own country also confirm Greenwald's story.
I agree - that to think of Trump as a difference to the long term problem is not healthy. He is showing - as did Obama, Bush & Clinton B - that he is in power due to monied interests - and he has to pay back to his rich donors.
