Glière - Concerto for Coloratura Soprano / Arr. for Theremin, Clarinet and Piano

The Concerto for Coloratura Soprano in F minor, Op. 82 composed by the Russian composer Reinhold Glière (Рейнгольд Глиэр) in 1943 is among my favorite pieces of music. This arrangement for theremin, clarinet and piano is by Laurent Beeckmans and the score is available here: www.geysermusic.be/GME0060.htm.
Recorded in Montréal, Salle Serge Garant (Université de Montréal) on August 24th, 2019.

These musicians are superb! The blend is perfect and they are all feeling the music with the same pathos and sensitivity. Greg Blanc’s theremin playing is magnificent.

Look at the way his right hands jerks around, devoid of any fluidity, like we're viewing his movements under a strobe light. Truly this can only be due to countless hours of practice

What brand/model of theremin do you play?

That's an Etherwave Pro - a long-since discontinued limited edition model by Moog. It's widely regarded as one of, if not the best theremin ever made. (Though the old RCA theremins and the Wavefront Classic, both of which are also discontinued, are generally just as coveted... though this can depend on who you ask)

It's ok, but I could obviously hear less accuracy on the theremin not being in tune with the other instruments. Sure, looks fancy, maybe with one of the auto tuners on it, might work up my standards.

With that said, just watched KATICA ILLÉNYI play it and she was dead on the money for being in tune.
