This is the first day of the 2022 Dunstable Regionals and I wanted to post a very short video of the first launch and my initial thoughts ...
It is also the first time I have flown here and the airfield is very 'interesting'.
There are some steep undulations, depending upon which direction you take off and also makes landings interesting :)
The people were great and everyone was very friendly and happy to help out, so I would recommend visiting if you get the chance.
I have recorded each competition day that we flew and will do a mini-series of those flights, so if you haven't already please consider subscribing to my channel.
I'll also be talking through the settings of the instruments from my previous 'panel build' series, where downloading and uploading tasks, airspace and flights is put to the test in real life, so see how I get on.
I have the following instruments fitted:
7" OpenVario Glide Computer from SteFLY running XCSoar and remote stick
LX Navigation ERA80 Vario and backup navigation instrument with IGC
PowerFLARM with IGC and ADSB Out (anti-collision device for gliders)
57mm Altimeter
Dittel KRT2 8.33Mhz Radio (connected to the OpenVario)
80mm ASI (Air Speed Indicator)
Thanks for watching and post and comments or questions you may have (or any ideas for future content).

Dont hold hand on release, You can pull it accidently on bumps. Hold hand near to fast grab not on it.

Good point. In the UK we are trained to hold the release, I’ll not hold it if the takeoff is rough or uneven.

Holding hand on the release on the ground run is a good practice. If something goes wrong it will be very hard to find and grab it.

@@gliding_soaring No it's not a good. On bumps You can accidently pull release. Always get hand near but not on release.

I agree, that’s why they teach us that in the UK. During an emergency and you need to release very quickly every second counts.

@@jino8745 On the ground accidential release may hurt your ego. But not releasing (or releasing too late) when needed may cost you life.
