Rest your right forearm on your leg and hold the stick a little lower. That will prevent the 'pot stirring' you are doing with the stick. That was a very nice stable approach and landing.

Well done! You picked a field, you landed and you broke neither the glider or yourself. Thanks for sharing: it helps as I head towards doing more cross-country.

forget the criticism, you brought it down safely and both you and the junior can fly again. Have a great season.

That was intense, i found myself glued to the screen second guessing you all the time. I found myself looking for places for you to land, "go there, no wait bank left, no go right,dont go out over the water,my god hes not going for that field, look at the size of those fucking trees," If that was me i would be spam in a can, great stuff.

I totally agree with capnordest, you brought the mashine down safely and stepped out unhurt from it . Good soaring flights.

Fine job though I constantly got distracted and frustrated by the constant wobbling of your right hand... gliders fly themselves when trimmed correctly, no need to stir it around like that! Great job though, helps me prepare for what’s to come

It's okay to be nervous but the unnecessary steering actually causes quite some drag. I don't know if you do that in normal flight too for example thermalling but I would pay attention doing that a little bit less

because some comments are saying this a good outlanding: this is a shocking bad example for an outlanding! first of all you had about 400m hight when flying above the landing site. you should have used it to do a full landing circuit! wich means you fly a rectangle (crosswind - downwind - base - final) where your final should take about 30 seconds before landing. If you are at low key in about 200m thats totally fine. this would have prevented you from doing this suicidal-slip! you came in like 1m above the treetops and sliped nearly to the ground. thats insane! especially when you write in your comments you had turbulent conditions and 12m/s wind. A (textbook-)circuit with a long approach would have been the much safer way and this should be everyones routine for every landing site! no matter if airfield- or outlanding! take your hight, take your time, do your procedure! regardless, good to see you got down/out safe!

Field elevation was about 90m, when being over the field he had 310m on alt. So it wasn't 400m but 220m. Then he turned final on 150m, which i find ok for final.
@westsideloyalty
@westsideloyalty 7 лет назад
If pulling the spoilers to the fullest + slipping the hell out of your plane until 10 meter above to ground is ok for final, than this indeed was a very ok final.

Any landing that you can walk away from is a good landing, any landing where you can reuse the aircraft is exceptional. That was super
@aarhustaxa
@aarhustaxa 5 лет назад
Completely disagree. The Junior glider has a terrible speed polar and great brakes. You can always get down. And quickly. With 10/12 ms winds you will spend a lot of height moving into it. Plus needing extra speed to handle turbulent conditions. There is no reason to have less hight than what he had. Besides his alti is not showing QFE. It was a fine landing, he held it fine into the wind on final (not a slip) and had no problems getting down or stopping glider... you analysis is nonsense. Do you even fly gliders?

Hey that looked ok to me. No damage. Lesson learned. Carry on.

1) Turn your vario to only sound on climb 2) That was the worst land out option available (this is all intended as constructive criticism) 3) You came into that landing high energy, you want to be as low energy as possible on land out 4) What are you doing jacking that stick around like that?
@TheSoaringChannel
@TheSoaringChannel 2 года назад
I agree with everything but #3. He had to cross trees from downwind of them. I'll take the longer flare vs getting sucked down from the downwash of the trees in a strong wind down low. I agree he was too fast. But not an all bad thing if he had hit sink from the water and trees.

Your poor ailerons. You put more wear in the control joints and lines in five minutes than the average pilot inputs in a month! Seriously, where did you get this futile need to stir the stick like you were making cakes!! Pointless movements. However the landing was good and you survived. I hope you requested a flight control service and overhaul after!
@MajsterMajster
@MajsterMajster 7 лет назад
That is the funniest way of describing pointless movement of the stick :D. I had about 100 hrs then and that movement is now reduced to absolute minimum since few years now.

5 Meters to the left and the 20 cm drop at @3:17 would have been a smooth rolling out ;) But the hilltop restricted the groundview on it.

Well done, but next time choose a field that is not bordered by trees. I know you do not always have many options in a situation like this, but the trees make the first hundreds of meters unusable to land. Thanks for uploading, it is always good to learn from experience.

No to już nie rozumiem...gdzie Osiek, a gdzie Olsztyn? W takim razie w radio było słychać coś innego? Przecież do Olsztyna jest grubo ponad 150 km.
