Glitches you can do in Hollow Knight

If I'm correctly remembering Game Maker's Toolkit's video about this, which included interviews with the developers, Fireball Skip and also small skips that you can do to bounce off of the environment were unintended and found very early on. Team Cherry knew about them after they were found, and specifically left them in the game for speedrunners.

This is a pretty good way to play this game considering you don't have to enter Deepnest at all 🙂

God... and to think I was only scratching the surface of the iceberg, with the invincibility glitch... this is amazing! Thank you! Also alternatively, for the fireball skip, you can actually use the enemy a bit further down in that same room, and pogo off of him to reach the ledge.

There's a glitch you missed! It allows you to equip multiple charms at once! If you go to a stag station, get interaction storage with the stag and sit on a bench, you can open up your charm menu. Equip or unequip a charm while making sure that you have the station you're currently at selected in the stag menu. Leave the room WITHOUT CLOSING THE MENU and then make your way to the godseeker, enter godhome and select a pantheon (The first works best). Have the charm and shell bindings on, and die by falling off the stage. When the screen fades to white, press the menu button when EVERYTHING is obscured by white (Including the HUD) and you'll get a charm menu with 11 blank notches to work with! This can be repeated as many times as you want. If you sit on a bench after equipping your new charms and save+quit, they'll stay there. BTW it helps to use king's station as your station and have a dreamgate next to godseeker, just for convinience.

I know about an alternate version of invincibility, but it requires more abilities and to be more precise. You need to drop down into shallow water, the inventory needs to be open when you're falling, and you have to close it when you get into the water. The knight will walk in water, then you open inventory again, jump out of the water and start a crystal dash, close inventory, and start a dreamgate teleport. But when you're about to tp, you finish crystal dash, making the tp animation fail, but still making you invincible. Sometimes it can fail and you get stuck in white screen though. It is a harder glitch to perform but it can be learnt.

There’s another invincibility glitch that goes as follows: Tap quick map, then hold crystal dash and quickly tap quick map again (storage) Next, dreamgate, and right before the dreamgate actuvates, let go of all buttons. If timed correctly, you will hear the sound of a dreamgate play, but still be in your current location. If it doesn’t work, save and quit and reload your file to try again.

Now ive always wondered how people discover some of these glitches like the moon jump glitch for botw its not that specific or needs alot of precision but then theres just some that are so specific like room dupe that i just cant figure out how its possible

I found a glitch where I was trying to dreamnail a dead husk body but sundently a mantis petra interupted this process so I suddenly was able to sort of fly a bit just like u did in 13:00. I did still see the dream dialouge tho.

I'm that one percent. That lost their crap seeing the wall break and I could skip it. I had No idea and I never saw the wall do that as I was ALWAYS on the right side in the arena. And even after other playthroughs and knowing what to do. I still did not see it.

Really nice video. I wonder, what kind of glitches can be done in F.I.S.T since you have a dash from the very start and there are multiple movement options available through out the game. Would love to see a video about this game, since I think it is a really good metroidvania title. PS. Oh and for Bloodstained aswell since that is my most beloved game apart from the classic ones (Symphony etc.) (To be clear, I am talking about Ritual of the night not the 8-bit Bloodstained. Though videos about those are also very welcome)

With the fireball skip, you can also just guide the bug in the dark area to the gap and pogo it

By the way, does anyone know how to perform room duplication for the hollow knight crystal peak room kill? It looks much more sick than just using invincibility :)

When doing room dupe I was so confused on why I couldn't go left and enter a different room like you said and it was cause I accidently went to hidden station instead

Word of advice for anyone struggling with fireball skip (like me) You can bait the squit in the area close to you and pogo off it to skip the route as well

hey, im trying to do the room duplication on resting grounds, however when i double click map to die and dash to the right once more, and try to jump. it doesnt go up to the other floor but keeps going back and forth left and right and i cant stop it

Maybe not a useful glitch, but ran into a pretty freaky bug where the Hollow Knights middle (The one where he tries to slam into you from up high) phase was reversed, with him sliding along the ground instead of flying around. His limbs and face were screwed up too, like a puppet with its strings cut. Happened when I managed to send him into phase 2 while he was in mid air.

How do you quitout after the dreamer duplication I’ve tried to quit out but my quitout screen tabbed out on itself

I found a glitch where you can skip the conversation with Hornet by the fountain of Hollow Knight by tossing with the nail the husk on the second floor from your right side of the fountain so he lands on the ground by the fountain and drop down with him and as you're both on the ground the screen fades black for the arrival of Hornet's cutscene you hope that the husk will attack you so then instead of being frozen while Hornet says her Hornet things you're free to walk. Now I wonder what would happen if you dreamnail Hornet while she talks , didn't have dreamnail when I found this bug, or what would happen if the husk kills you while Hornet is talking.

If you're supposed to exit the resting grounds there then that means the super dashing at the top wasn't intended.

Not really a glitch but bench warping is another popular strategy where you exit the game to teleport back to the last bench you sat at. Can save time especially after hornet.

can I ask how many times I would need to Dupe Xeros room to get enough essence for all of the seers reward, I don't want to lag my game out more than necessary

finally got around to playing this game and immediately came back to this video I saved until I played Hollow Knight.

Is stag interface storage possible on switch? (Standing next to a stag “travel” text and pressing L up L rapidly)

Is it possible to use the room duplication glitch to get a lot of geo? I believe that with an amulet of greed and a collector it can work, but I don't quite understand how to duplicate it.

Is the dreamer dupe only able to be attempted once per save file? Because ive got it once but I ended up messing up near the end of the glitch, I keep trying it after and it just refuses to work again. (it keeps not working after the dream nail part, it refuses to give me noclip and float if I fail the glitch at any point after the stag storage.)

Since you can skip False Knight, that means that you can get the dream nail, so what happens if you dream nail False Knight after beating it? Also, I'm now going to start a new game and try to do as many of these glitches (and false knight skip) so I can do it.

hey Phobia, been loving your stuff for a few years, and i think “Unsighted” would make a great video in this format, it’s not the typical game you go over, but it has a lot of sequence breaks, skips, glitches and tricks that makes the game pretty interesting.

19:07 I did everything right, but when I went to collect it I triggered some dialog and got the normal 100. After that I was locked where I picked up the reward. Wasn’t able to dash/jump/walk. Without thinking I paused and quit to main menu to set up the glitch again and once again fight the boss. For a few seconds I saw “progress saved” as I quit. My horrors realized. I re-loaded, performed everything again to get to the room only to find no boss and 100 essence in my inventory. Does anyone know a way to re-fight the boss? Or push back a save on ps5? Or am I stuck with hunting down 900 essence legitimately or straight up restarting the game(losing 10 hours of progress)

I did an oopsie and the resting grounds stag is loaded, but the knight is just not there. I guess he stayed in dirmouth

I just found out that doing that weird thing with benches doesn't actually affect your height, so you can do the early blue lake by just doing that, going to the entrance, jumping, and pressing up (theoretically)

so i was using switch then i got a heart shard the animation i think i pressed quick map then an enemy hurt me it gave me float i didn't hat dash master on

if you get stuck in room duping where you just keep going between two screens just spam inventory and you should be fine

i swear i've been doing the dreamgate part of dreamer dupe with the correct timing, but no matter what it won't let me noclip or float

A couple months after hollow knight came out I Had done fireball skip on a friend's pc using a mosquito enemy and he nearly shit himself

At 19:40 would it work on a Switch OLED?? It's just a thought I had while watching, I don't own a Switch OLED.

11:35 actually there is another way to reach blue lake even with steel soul. you can do a wall cling storage in the right wall to reach the top platform. very easy tbh. you can perform it on any version.

This isn't really a glitch, but if you still can't do fireball skip to hornet 1, then you can pogo a squit to get to the ledge too.

Are you sure the invincibility glitch still works on the Steam/PC version of the game? I read they patched it specifically on PC a while ago
