So I also make these cups and use the glue method. You need to add more liquid to the glue one, your getting bubbles because if you shake it, it sloshes around making bubbles. Also its much faster using condiment bottles to fill, so much faster than pippets. My cups liquid flow slower and suspends the glitter longer.

So thankful for you making this video! I tried the glue and water and I think that with your mixture you may have added too much glue. I have yet to find a good ratio to mix but I've noticed that if I fill up the cups to the max with no room for air pockets, it is a better outcome for the glue mixture. Shaking glue and water is going to give you the bubbly mixture that you are getting here. When the glitter is stuck at the top of the cup I hold it in my palms and shimmy the cup back and fourth quickly and it disperses the liquid into the glitter better. Hope this helps! Thanks again for making this awesome comparison! I really enjoyed it!

I'm glad you did this...it saved me from having to do this experiment myself!!! I've been learning how to make these types of tumblers and I'm wondering if there is a reason you didn't fill the entire void with the different solutions? Is there a reason you left as much air-space as you did?

For me , the glycerin clumped up my fine glitter and there were chunks and all of it rose to the top if it sat still . So basically there would be some glitter at the bottom, the middle would be clear and the top would be the glitter (turned into chunks) at the top . The glue , for me that’s my favorite . I didn’t have any trouble putting the mixture into the cup using a syringe . I filled it up all the way to the top. As much as I possible could do there aren’t as many bubbles . ☺️

I wonder what would happen if you replaced the water with the contact solution in the other mixes.

I think the one I'm going to do as a gift I'm going to use the contact solution seems the most hastle free and guaranteed sterile. I've seen a lot of molded glycerin cups.... ick but maybe those people use tap water.... I'm going to do some as practice anyways before the real one and I had a few ideas Inwanted to play with anyways!

Yes the contact solution is the most straight forward! I’d totally go hassle free for a gift lol

Has anyone tried making these tumblers with mineral oil? I'm looking to make one of these tumblers, and I'm wondering what would be the best solution for the liquid. Thanks! With watching this tutorial, I can see that I'm going to try using a syringe to insert the liquid in the tumbler. I think it would be easier. You have to have EXTREME patience. That glue would have driven me batty! 😂 I would also use distilled Water and possibly a preservative that can be used in water. Any time you use water, it can mold, and with all the work that goes into these, I don't want mold. 😳

Baby oil is mineral oil with fragrance- so your results would be like her example with baby oil+water.

I love the video, thanks for experimenting for us. One suggestion, the lighting is great for you, but so much glare on your cups we can’t see them clearly.

Thank you for this information. I practiced with an old tumbler and the glue mixture and had the same problem. I am going to purchase some glycerin from Michael's right now. 😉

I know this video is old but did you know if you sit the cup on your blue squeegee, those 2 little things that stick up, it'll stop your cup from rolling everywhere.

I’m tempted to see what would happen if you combined contactless fluid with glycerin?

I like the contact solution but wonder if you added like 20% glycerin if that would make a perfect solution.

Mineral oil is baby oil without the scent. No scent would probably be better with plastic.

The ratio of glue to water is 1/3 to 2/3 without shaking just stirring. I think the pipettes injected too much air as well

So when using clear glue it’s 1TBS to 1 cup of hot water. I’ve never seen an issue like what you had and I don’t know how much you used bc I skipped to the end for the results lol but if you didn’t use hot water and on top of that using too much glue would have definitely resulted in the glitter not moving. Hope that’s helpful to anyone who was wanting to try the glue method 🙂
