You're exactly right, cutthroat capitalism has been retarding evolution itself with it's concentration on profit rather than actual upliftment of the human species... We now have people especially in the United States but other places also who are so disconnected to the way things actually work that they will actually vote in politicians who enact policies and programmes against the populations interest, so disconnected emotionally that they can just walk right by people starving in the street and it doesn't bother them, so morally disconnected that they watch pornography all day or other idiotic entertainment,, and an elite that is so depraved that some of the more predatory among them buy people for s slaves... This last isn't that surprising when there are people allowed to accumulate such vast quantities of cash that there is no sensible outlet for it,, meanwhile none of this profit is being used to as Eric Weinstein said construct a life raft for humanity in the case of a statistically certain catastrophe like an asteroid or a volcano or a solar flare...

The situation in Palestine for instance,, people can't comprehend the suffering among the people of Gaza and conscientious people are putting pressure on the situation, however the corporate government of Israel is the actor committing the major crimes,, and no matter how much one disagrees with the Palestinians in Gaza employing violence against the people of Israel it's important to remember that Gaza is an open-air prison camp...... The right wing electorate supported and protected the worst forms of predatory capitalism the ladt 50 yrs. Whenever pro labor politicians campaigned on labor rights/unions, conservatives called it communism OR said “Why do you hate rich people.” Pathetic. Reagan promised trickle down economics would send our jobs overseas for cheap labor. Right wingers smugly said “retrain yourselves.” Now the elite bring cheap labor here. Every goddamned Republican who ever ran for president had to be either a military asshole or a big corporate businessman. The Democratic Party kept moving to the right to be more like the GOP to entice swing voters. The people most upset at unbridled immigration are the people who voted for the most predatory economic policies that encourage it.
