Good varies with employees. There was a company in Hamilton that was struggling...and then the employees wanted a big raise, and went on strike. The bosses said ""we're going bankrupt"....the employees didn't care. After they were on strike for 6 mos, the company DID go bankrupt, and all the employees lost their jobs. Res ipso loquitor
@@firstandforemost87 Bingo! That's why most of Canada is having a housing crisis. We went from 30 million ppl in 1997, to 40 million in June 2023. 9.7 million of the increase was from migrants. I'm not sure why govt ppl can't see that this might cause a problem with housing and jobs and wages. All the best to you!
@@LizbethGerowthen you got companies like John Deere who just pulled records profits, gave their shareholders all sorts of dividends and their executives all sorts of bonuses and yet are laying off 7500 employees. The same company that refuse to have a right to fix for their equipment. This only happens when the employees don't have any say or ownership over the means of production. All companies should have at least 49% of their shared owned by their employees. That is what they do things in Germany. All German companies over a certain size a partially owned by the employees. Yet Germany is an industrial powerhouse. Employees should have a say in the running of their own companies.
Just give the worker's what they are asking for. It's a no brainer, keep the economy moving. Now is not the time for a strike. This is a critical time of year for so many.

@@albertplumer um, even if that were to happen (I wish it could), they'd still need railways to move the cars around! And the parts to the dealerships! But that doesn't even come close to the hundreds of thousands of farmers and miners that are about to lose their means of shipping their hard-earned wares to market. No matter where the products come from, trains will still move them.
If they do strike, watch as all of the powers that be make sure it can never happen again. Not because they care about regular people, but because they demand full subservience.

I can't see, how a speedy "back to work" legislation could be avoided, since the two major railway together constitute a monopoly on freight transport, particularly bulky freight transport. IMO neither the Teamsters, nor CN + CPKC should take Canada and USA hostage to their bargaining disagreement.

No one gets to shut down all hiways across the country. In this case we have an oligopoly - CN & CP Rail - with absolute control over all shipping E-W. And we have a single union - the Teamsters - with monopoly control over all shipping. We should NEVER have permitted a single firm to shut down all shipping by road. Why would we permit it by rail? And WHY have we permitted monopolization of rail and unions? Ottawa WILL intervene. Either NOW, when it's sensible & Canadians will see it as effective leadership. Or in a week or two, after a shutdown has caused irreparable harm to industry, massive inflation for Canadians, and demonstrated that the Liberal Government isn't fit to govern. Get off the pot Trudeau - show leadership! Intervene! And announce an investigation into antitrust violations in both transportation AND union activity.
This is very "crude", pre-WWII level propaganda. Make no mistake, the USA is absolutely rife with propaganda it's just extremely sophisticated because the population have notions about what freedom and critical thought are. The American propaganda uses moralistic language that manipulates the rhetoric that was once used by freedom of speech advocates. As I said, it's far more elegant but the objective is the exact same, to drive specific political outcome and keep the population in check.

The mast is still intact! (from the latest dive reports) The cause is still to be determined. Most likely thru water ingress in >unsecured< port holes, hatches & water tite doors. This was a very extreme sudden event. A water spout (tornado) in Australia instantly flipped a large catamaran like it was a toy (sails were down) while in a marina and heeled a large sailing yacht completely on its side on the opposite side of the marina. All of this within seconds of just rain & wind to boom. Sad for the tragic loss of life.
