The Council's Global Young Leaders program impacts over 8,000 students 1,000 teachers each year. It is the only educational initiative in North Texas focused on global competence, through Junior World Affairs Councils (JWACs) on more than 70 high school campuses (public, private, charter, and homeschools). Additionally, the Council introduced "20 Under 20" as part of this program to spotlight young people who consistently give back to their communities and exemplify what it means to be a global citizen. These students are selected based on a criteria demonstrated through academic performance, leadership, and interest in foreign policy and global issues. The Council takes distinct pleasure in recognizing this year’s 20 Under 20 class, an incredible group of students nominated by their teachers and selected by a panel of Council board members. They live by the motto, “Think Global, Act Local,” and inspire others to do the same.
