Both are excellent choices and I own both. I favor a larger gun most of the time..... that being said the 19 ain't exactly a small gun... they both carry well. The 17 shoots much better in my opinion.
That was a very basic, exhaustive, and excellent comparison of the G17 and G19! Thank you! I don't believe I have seen a better effort on the topic. I learned a lot and you gave me things to consider.
I’ll take a 19 over. I got the option for my Sheriffs office it be issued a 17 or 19 and I chose a 19. Especially because we are required by law to carry off duty and I am not going to try concealing a 17 😂
The 19x/45 is better. Shorter slide for quicker draw for conceal carry, the extra half inch barrel in the 17 has marginal difference in velocity to were it’s un noticeable. And the 19x/45 has the extra 2 rounds like the 17. The 17 is useless and only exist for nostalgia at this point. There’s no point to own a 17 to me when the 19x/45 exist
I still to this day love my G19. I also carry a Staccato c2 and love that gun as well but something about a Glock and the simplicity just does it for me.
I run my 19 with x grip extension. It fills the gap with the 17 round magazine. It is super comfortable. The 17, 21, 26 and 48 are my range toys. The 19 is my go to.
Most of the difference in the 2 is pretty negligible. I personally prefer the 19. Maybe it's just a mental thing it just seemed to fit me and ballence better. On the other hand, my friend who has considerably larger hands like the 19x/45/17 grip size. There really is a glock for everybody. If anyone has a chance to try out multiple models, you will probably fall in love with one or the other.
Have you shot them side by side? Is there a noticeable difference in recoil or muzzle flip (for new shooters)? Is there any relevant benefit to the g17 other than mag capacity? Is the sight radius difference noticeable?
Best G19 vs G17 video I've seen! 🔥 I have large hands and the 17 is very comfortable but I still went with the 19 because i felt it was more versatile and concealable. Plus I'm adding a magwell so it will give me that little extra pinky support i need without having to get a full size 💪🏽
If I could have only 5 Glocks it would be as follows: Competition: G34 w/RDS Conceal Carry: G19 stock Duty/Open Carry: G17 w/RDS & Light Home Defense: G21 w/Light Hunting: G20 w/ RDS
Something that I have not seen anyone mention when comparing the G17, G19X and G45 to the G19 is magazine "compatibility". The G19's 15 round mags are useless in the G17, 19X and G45 but not the other way around.
Ive always owned a Glock, started with a gen3 g17, then i bought a gen4 19, gen4 26, gen5 17 mos, and now my edc is a gen 5.5 Glock 19 fstb, forward serrations, threaded barrel. I call it a gen 5.5 because its the updated gen5 frame with the beveled frame and NO half moon cut out, More like the mos line. But those 5.5 Glocks are the slickest factory Glocks you can buy.
The preference for the G19 might be an American thing. Globally the G17 is far more widely sold than the G19, but that might be due to government or Defense procurements. In its home market Austria the G17 outsells the G19 at least 2:1. Then again concealed carry there is rare, and the Austrians respect the G17 for it starting Glock pistols and it’s role in the Austrian armed forces.
I own both and have shot both a good amount. I have larger hands than some people, I've noticed, so the 17 is my choice by far. If I had to sell one, I'm selling the 19.
@@danr5239 and they know what they are facing. It's not a battle field situation where you might be concerned with other combatants learning your position. Besides once you fire a shot ...muzzle flash has given your position.
I tell people the G19 is the perfect size CCW option for most people. Guns similar in size to the G19 allow you to train, practice, and carry without the gun beating you up or weighing you down in most situations. I have recently moved from the G17 to the G45 as my Glock carry option, I prefer a full-size grip…
I don't know many 5'9" males or 5'4" females working in roles that require business or business casual attire that can strap on a Glock 19 for 10+ hours a day, 365 days a year. Most folks concealing Glock 19s wear baggy cargo shorts and untucked polo shirts that are two sizes too large for them, hanging down to their elbows.
The glock 17 barrel is only half and inch longer and when compared your gaining maybe around 30 fps is that in that extra length. The longer 17 doesn’t add any value over a 19 other than have +2 higher round capacity
I don't think I'll ever conceal a double stack Glock. I have a P365, an LCP, and an Airweight. I'm very happy with those options for EDC. I just need a bigger gun for pistol classes. For that reason I'm leaning towards the Glock 17. Plus it's THE Glock, the original, and I'm a sort of a purist.
I bought a 17 gen 5 and I ended up loving it everybody told me not to get Glock but it ended up being the best 1 for me. I wanted the 34 but I don't like that slide cut so I went 17 and I love that gun. Just I ended up putting about 1700 in upgrades on it lol so I was thinking bout a 19 or 26 or 45 but i was about to buy another 17 then I seen a 47 and I love this thang
I own several handguns, but I couldnt never sell My glock 19 gen4, there are a lot of better options, but I would only Buy them just because i like handguns but never gonna stop using My g19 for sure
Great comparison. So I have a 19, 17, 45 and have been thinking of adding a 34. I always hear that they are the softest shooting Glocks but I’ve never shot one. Any experience with the 34? Are they any better than the 17? Been carrying a 17 for duty use for 12 years and have competed and ccw nothing but Glocks for the last 16 years but no experience with a 34
I have had a few 34’s, they are great guns and shoot great. If I were you, I would get one, I’m sure you’ll like it. My only problem with them has always been the longer slide length just makes it a somewhat larger set up, and I prefer mid to compact sized firearms.
I love my Benchmade Mini Griptillion, I'm very hard on knives and this knife has stood up and then some. Looks like you are somewhere between Georgia and South Carolina, I'd love to see you get hold of my custom CZ P10-C. That would give me a reason to hit that sweet range setup you got. Found your channel looking for BCM rifle videos. I'm always looking at videos to justify my custom BCM rifle.
I love my 19. Looking to get a 17 or 34 for competition soon I'd like to see a 19 vs 45 review. I see all the time people praising the 45 but wondering if the hype is real or is it a case of shiney and new syndrome. Have you shot a 45 or 19x yet? Nice review btw
I’m not a huge fan of the 45 or 19x, I prefer the 19, followed by the 17. I have had two or three 34’s as well, also a good gun. If you have trouble griping the 19, then the 45 or 19x may be for you, otherwise get the 17 or 34.
Josh I’ve carried a 19 Gen three for years. I picked up a G45 last year and I have to say I like it better than either the 19 or my 17 of which I three. Gen, 1 , 2 and 3 . It Carrie’s well and shoots even better than my Gen three guns.
If its just home defense and open carry I'm always picking the longer barrel. I'll take the faster bullet and higher chance of expansion every time. And while I've always loved the 19 I find myself carrying a shield plus most of the time. Micro 9s now with the same capacity and reliability that shoot like a full size are hard to beat.
Alberto, for me the stability is pretty close for these two, but hand size, grip strength, and form all play a role as well. Sight radius is a another differentiator.
Dude... I got 3 minutes into the 20 minutes video and you've said "Glock 17" and "Glock 19" over and over without saying anything of substance. I want to know the difference between the guns, the specs, the handling, the magazine capacity, any other differences, and you probably got into that. Next time, don't take so long babbling on at the beginning of your videos. I'm closing this video and moving on.
Not real sure which part, but I've misspoken in the past and I'm sure I'll do it again so there's no telling. Thanks for Stopping by Bernie, take care.
gizzuns. Glock has a bad trigger, no ignoring that... and it doesn't have to be that bad as aftermarket suppliers have shown, Glock just doesn't care.. muh perficshion!
I disagree unless you are a child. I have smaller hands and the glock 26 was too small. I ended up adding a mag extension to it to have my pinky have a good grip. At that point I couldn't justify not just going with a glock 19. Maximum grip is very important. I have been concealed carrying my glock 19 for a couple years now and I'm thinking of buying a 17 to concealed carry. More grip range is never a bad thing l, and with the right holster and clothing it isn't an harder to carry.
