I think he meant they have a unique beauty to them. No the gun has the blocky type look. Or, at least I haven't seen one that does. Most other handguns look streamlined. Hahaha
I have fired about 2000 rounds through my glock 19, gen 4, with no malfunctions of any kind. Most of the ammo, about 80%, has been Fiocchi 115 gr. pistol and revolver line. The other ammo has been a mixture of brands and bullet weights. Probably my most reliable semi auto. Thanks Hickok for the entertainment and education.
Mary Jane, Congratulations on buying the best gun you'll ever love! If you're shooting 9mm I recommend 147 grain reman from Freedom Munitions. Softer recoil = more fun.
The employee (retired military and law enforcement) at the gun range has one that he says he shot 6,000 rds through and only changed out springs suggested by Glock at I believe was 5,000 rds. Still has same factory barrel and he was splitting playing cards from 10 yrds that we watched him do in awe. Not bad fro a 64 yr old with bi-focals. Says it's the only gun for him. More than you need and nothing you don't.
@MrHardPressed , There's little question out there about any Glocks feeding hollow point ammo, at least amongst people who've shot them much. I think about any Glock will practically feed empty cases. The issue here is spring tension and what ammo is strong enough to work reliably.
As you know I am a Ruger fan and have P and SR series and I love them all. However I did get a G19 Gen 4 a while back when you recommended it,and I absolutely love it, i have put over 500 rounds with different ammo and it works great and zero malfunctions. I like the trigger of the Ruger SR series a tad better, however I like the G19 for its simplicity and that it is very accurate. We all appreciate you doing these excellent videos. Thanks.
@killermonkeypeople2 , Check out my Playlists. I'm not sure what requirements there are at shooting ranges in terms of checking ID and that sort of thing. It probably depends on the range.
Michael Reed "I Heard the Gong on Christmas Day"; "We Three Glocks"; "Away in a Gun Safe"; "Here Comes Santa Glock"; 'Hark, The Herald Angels Plink"; "Hark how the Shells, Sweet Silver Shells, All seem to say, throw lead down range...."; "Silencer Night, Holey Night"......😂
@Wysiwyg101 , Again, I get absolutely nothing from any gun companies except a T&E gun occasionally. Glock and Springfield are the only two companies I have gotten anything from, just one from Springfield (XDm 45).
Great video. I have a 19 gen 4 I bought earlier this year. Round count to date 1500 with ZERO malfunctions. Mostly Aguila 124 but also a couple hundred rounds of Win, Blazer, Fed and REM 115. The 19 is a great pistol. Had a gen 3 before I traded up to the gen 4. It was a great shooter too, just as accurate and trouble-free as the gen 4.
@@ManofSteel4889 I just bought a new generation 4 19 a couple days ago. I've had alot of glocks over the years. But this is my 1st Gen4. I really like the back strap option. It was a job to install it, but the medium beaver tail makes it fit my hand like a glove! It might take the place of my generation 3 23 40 Cal as my EDC. It was the demo model at Academy. Last one they had. It was marked $539. After some friendly haggling, they let me have it for $475.
@Bulls eye I haven't shot my gen 4 19 yet. I'm going to break it in with some NATO ball ammo I have. I'm thinking it might not like light loaded 115gr target loads. I can see the double recoil spring being tight. Have you had any trouble shooting light loaded 115gr through your gen 4 9mm's? And have you tried any 147gr ammo in yours? I've got some 147 hydra shoks my son got me. They fire great in my gen 1 17.
I had a G19 Gen 3 for about 6 years and I only had one malfunction and it was when my girlfriend limp wristed it the first time I took her to shoot. I sold that gun in 2011 and now I have a G17 Gen 4 and it has never had a failure. I've had a G21 Gen 4 since 2013 and I've never had a failure. I just don't understand how you can defend some 1911's that take 200-1000 rounds to "break in" when you can buy an "ugly" Glock and have it work perfectly out of the box.
I love your videos. I think it's because you show the gun immediately instead of spending 10 mins just talking about it without us being able to see it.
I just put some money down on a G19 Gen 4 for sale at a pawn shop. Hardly ever used with Trijicon night sights and four 15 round magazines for $450. That's too good of a deal to pass up.
What I like the most about the new camera is the much improved sound quality! On the older videos when you were shooting up close the sound cut out when you started talking after firing a few rounds. Thanks for the videos!
@hickok45 have you ever seen or shot the .380 glock? I still dont entirely understand why they dont import them to the US...Im not interested in them just annoying someone in the US can never really own every glock model if they wanted to, lol...
Thanks for another great video. I'll be ordering my Glock 19 Gen 4 soon and I was anti-Glock but I've seen the light after shooting one hard and fast. James Yeager's 1000 round torture test is also a testament to the Glock 19's reliability and durability. 1000 rounds in 14 minutes.
+BILL G Good job? I own and enjoy using both actually. Heck my EDC is a Glock 20. Each has their merits but I have no idea what Glocks or your fan boy status has to do with the test I mentioned.
that new camera is nice as when you talk right after shooting its note muted like the old camera. thanks for shooting all this ammo with the g19. educational and fun for all who watch
+iTheGeek really? Do countries not fall? This country is declining fast. Us reaching the limit is inevitable. At the rate our society is declining, a SHTF scenario will be likely in my opinion
@ndcent4u , I was thinking of doing that. Even though I had no hang-ups in this third big video, I didn't really shoot that much of the "suspect" ammo.
My Glock 17 is the only pistol I own that has never had a malfunction of any sort. In second place is a pistol that only had a FTE once. Believe it or not it was a Hi-Point.
Wow Hickok after watching you for the last week I have to say you do wonderful videos. Even my dad a former Marine as a current retired Naval ship engineer (as well as my grandfather a white house/capitol building head electrical engineer) I'm going to go ahead and pick up few Glocks this week. Beretta is my favorite and is in my blood, but the time has come to go plastic I feel. Keep those videos pumping. I love them and God bless you.
I bought one of these gen 4 Glock 9mm today from a local gun shop and it is silky smooth. Can't wait to take it to the range 🙂 As always, superb video Sir!
muscle memory probably equal to a tiger pouncing a bunny...i mean. seriously how many rounds has he shot from his first video ever plus all his competition shots. hickock. how many rounds would you guesstimate you shot in your lifetime?
@eldubya2010 , I'm not sure what to make of that; American Eagle has historically been one of the best ammo brands to use, in just about ANY caliber. All of it worked fine in my tests. It's one of the "good" ones, most people would say, I believe. I'm not sure why the American Eagle cases would eject more erratically.
First comment on a Hickok vid! lol Yet another great video. You are spoiling us with all the great videos you have been putting out lately. Keep it up guys!!!
Michael Nguyen The Impact Sports are fair, but with more powerful loads and calibers I wouldn't recommend using them without added ear plugs. Their noise suppression rating isn't all that great and as I've discovered when shooting rifle loads these muffs do a meager job when the dB levels are higher. These days I only use my Impact Sports when I'm out using powered lawn equipment or in the shop when using power tools.
I have a range in my back yard, too. But it's "only" 75 yards. Unlike him, though, I have an eight-foot high backstop and I shoot down into a hole. I also have the advantage of being in the middle of a national forest. I shoot so much I have two Blue Press loaders and a 40-year-old RCBS loader (been loading since the mid 70s). When I order primers, I get at least 1,000 rds at a time and 10 pounds of powder. I think he gets his ammo free from the companies. He also gets to use guns for free. What a lucky man! Ever since I read Elmer Kieth's book "Hell, I was there," I waned to learn how to shoot like him. It took thousands of rounds, but I got there by the time I was 20. It's fun to go to a public range and see the faces on "shooters" when they see what can be done with a revolver.
Great video. Gen 4 9mm springs are slightly overpowered. Another solution is to store the gun with the slide locked back for a while until the spring breaks in.
how long have u owned ur g19? i've seen a lot of utube vids complaining about failure to load or probs ejecting but noticed they vids r from 2011 and older. i just got one over the summer and havent shot it much at all so i was just wondering if glock fixed the problems?
Hickok you sir are awesome! I put 3800 rounds through my first Glock 19 Gen4 with no stoppages. I just got a new G19 Gen4 and so far 200 rounds running flawless! Glock is best!
The big man probably has a bulldozer for just such an emergency. Helps keep the feathers numbered. Come to think of it, this would be a great discipline aid for the kids. "If you don't behave, you'll be policing brass at the compound for a couple of days!!" Talk about teaching a kid about responsible firearm ownership....
Walmart does that "we sell same item but its different for us" stuff to many items. Namely Dickies the clothing. You do not get a horseshoe logo at Walmart, you get a "Genuine Dickies" patch instead. Beyond that I can't really tell the difference. But something is obviously done different beyond the logo. Doesn't surprise me if WalMart does with this other products, to maintain a price cut.
I've been loving the Gen 4 vids! I just got a Gen 4 Glock 19 with night sights, and love it. It's accurate enough to take out gummi bears at 7 paces. It has the 03 spring, and on the 1st day of shooting, my son experienced a couple failures to eject/feed. No problems since. We're using Winchester White Box.
If I may say, I do believe that is incorrect, my understanding from talking with my local gunsmith is that single or double action refers to guns with a hammer, the glock is striker fired and is in its own category. He explained it to me like this, in single action a pull of the trigger performs one action (releasing a cocked hammer to fire the weapon) in double action, a pull of the trigger performs two actions (cocks and also releases the hammer to fire the weapon).
@IVIUPPET, "Blow up in your hand"? Never seen that happen with a gun; guess it's happened a time or two through history, providing somebody is shooting ammo about three times the recommended load. :-)
In my new Glock 17 Gen4, I had about 4-5 malfunctions in the first 100-200 rounds. I had both FTEs and FTFs. All the malfunctions were with Remington UMC (Winchester White Box and Federal Champion were fine.) Since then I've had over 1000 more rounds through it without any malfunctions, shooting almost exclusively Federal Champion (it's cheap). It's the gun I carry and use for home defense. Just my experience. . . . Thanks Mr Hickock45 for the videos. I've got the fever now. So much fun.
