Initially thought Glocks were ugly but they grew on me. Too bad the grips on my Gen-4 21 haven't. Even in short frame my hands are just a wee bit small for a double stack .45
I didn’t like it until I saw the gun in use in... some movie. I forget. So since I associate it with the movie, I like the look of it. Crazy how media can do that.

A wise decision sir.. I always advise people that are buying their first pistol, to get some iteration of a double stack Glock. The double stacks in 9mm aren't prone to the feeding issues of the single stack guns. If they need high concealment, I advise the g26. If they need best of both worlds I advise the 19 or even the 17.. Yes there are better looking , nicer guns, . But for your first or only pistol ,I advise Glock, because they are 100% reliable out of the box, they are accurate, durable and dependable. If after that first purchase, you want to buy more guns then I advise to get whatever you want. Because you'll always have that Glock to fall back on should any issues arise . If by chance something does break on your Glock. You can order any part in it from 100 different mfgs and fix it easily. Without dealing with a warranty issue. You can buy ahead of time , the normal wear parts and have them ready and on hand. Glock for the first gun. Then get whatever you want after that

Eli Blakley a different barrel and a different sear makes a strong case that a 4S isn’t a good way to put it. If anything the gen 4 is a 3S, but the Gen 5 is one of its own. It’s different
A buddy bought one recently. Said it was surprisingly more accurate on paper than previous gens, at least in his perception. After handling and dry firing it, I equate the trigger to my Gen 1 17. Love the finger groove-less grip. The finger grooves on the Gen 3-4 19/23s actually worked well for me, but I like the feel of the 5 better. One will likely follow me home sooner or later. Great review!!!
I also have a Glock 19 Gen 4 USA made and after 3,500 rounds it still works just fine. I also have a Gen 5 17 & a Gen 5 26 with night sights and those also run flawless.
The only Glock I’ve ever been interested in is the Gen 5.5, latest version. Before that, I was never a Glock person. They just have to do away with the stupid plastic sights. My 5.5’s came with Ameriglo night sights.
Pete Phillips absolutely!!! Unless it's a unfired gen 1, then it's valuable lol but if you don't like something with your glock, somebody sells something to fix it. I guess it comes down to if you want finger grooves or not. Plenty of aftermarket triggers and accessories far superior to factory components. If you want perfect, build it.
It's kind of funny that they put the cut-out back into the bottom of the frame. It was a feature of the Gen 1s and everyone I knew HATED it because it would wear a blister on your pinky in about 200 rounds of shooting. However, It was useful when you reloaded because Gen 1 mags were designed to NOT drop free of the magwell. My department T&E'd Glock 23s and SIG P229s. We ended up carrying the SIGs. Glock wasn't even remotely close to SIG in those days (early 90's). I still carry my P229 today. Unfortunately, It's much better made than modern SIGs too now.

If find it funny people saying " if it ain't broke..." but the got whole after market glocks on sale. Frame, slide, trigger, barrel, everything! Get it stippled, finger grooves removed, new sights and front cocking serrations. Glock could have dropped a series bomb on its comp of they really listened to the fans and DIDNT pull an Apple. No body was asking for a mag strip hole in the front bottom of the grip.
Very nice. 17 was my first handgun and I love it. I’m dying to get a 19, but I’m moving out of California in a year, so I’d rather wait so I can get my hands on a gen 5
I like the way the chamfer on the front of the slide doesn't continue onto the frame. Makes it look like they pieced it together from two different guns.
ጬ I'm still uncertain about the new look. The front of the slide being cut away like that just seems off to me. While I think Glocks are ugly, they're meant to be tools and nothing more. The lack of finger grooves is a major turnoff for me, but the lack of a square front end just makes it not look like a Glock (which, considering how ugly the are, may not be a bad thing. I just prefer the simple, blocky look). Although I suppose it would be slightly easier to re-holster with those cuts...
I finally get a Gen 4, and the 5 comes out shortly after. Although, handling the 4 and the 5, I am happy with my selection. I am one of the few that apparently likes the finger grooves on the Glock.
Great review! Subd. Gen 5.1 has forward serrations and (thankfully) dropped the frontstrap mag cutout. My Gen 3 was blessed with an amazing trigger out of the box and my Gen 5 isn’t as good-there’s noticeable “creep” as the firing pin safety depresses. Both have a crisp, very positive reset that I enjoy.
Hi Colion, My Police Force in Australia has used a Glock 22 for 10+ years and for those years we have had orange followers in our magazines from factory. That was a requirement my force wanted from when we transitioned to glocks along with metal sites.
I own Glock 19,20&21 gen 4 (recently sold the G20) . I love the reliability of my Glocks... that's all that I love. Although I also own a Sig Sauer X Compact ( size comparable to G19) I love everything about the Sig , far better gun, everything you need right out of the box. No comparison. The X series Sigs are top notch. Hands down a better gun in my opinion.
The one thing that is never mentioned about the new Gen 5, is that Glock changed the single spring trigger system found in previous generations to a 3 piece trigger mechanism within the housing, which I thought would led to 3x the failure rate. To test this I completely removed the 3 piece trigger mechanism from the housing; and was surprised that the pistol still functioned! Amazing simple reliable design.
The problem is that a lot of people don't strip their mags by pinching the front of the magwell. We pinch the sides of the base plate. I got the Vicker's tactical base plates that gives you a bit of extra grip at the bottom
Just got my first glock this week. G19 gen 5. Mine doesn't have the magwell cutout and also has front slide serrations. I always thought glock was the ugliest guns on the face of the earth but with the upgrades as well as rounding off the front of the slide and frame, the new nDLC finish and ambi controls I'm in love.
Just got my Glock 19 Gen 5. No frame cut at the bottom of the grip. Also front grooves on the slide. Also luv the trigger. Shoots so sweet. Plus I put on the beavertail on the back of the grip. Magpul is all I get for extra mags. They just work. Hitting the range tomorrow. Happy shooting to you all.
as a left handed shooter, the gen 5 is great. Even though I can use my middle finger to drop the mag on older generations, having it on the other side is great! Also the slide release is actually usable one handed!
I have a Glock 19 Gen 2 (30+ years, thousands of rounds, ZERO issues) and a Glock 43 (zero issues). Still bought a Glock 19 gen 5 today. Glock is the only handgun I would trust my life on...PERIOD

After surfing the web for expensive high end guns… I came to this one which is cheap in comparison… just something nice about a gun you aren’t afraid to scratch up but know it works every time.

For my 39th birthday I was giving a gift from my (doesn’t want his name or relationship put on social media lol) after ok-ing it with my wife lol. It is my first handgun (not that I’ve shot just first I’ve ever owned) and I’m hooked. I’ve shot some of his custom bullseye pistols and love all of them. He gave me a Glock 21 gen3 with a custom barrel and its awesome to shoot. I’m 6f 2in and around 205-210 and it absolutely fits my hand like a glove. I love the finger grips and it feels like it was made just for my hand in stock form. I would like to get the texture done with a little more roughness but other than that it’s perfect for me for Home defense and the range. This will definitely not be my last Glock or pistol for that matter.
I've never been too much of a fan of the Glock because of hyper obsessive fanboys of the platform. But over time, I've come to slowly appreciate the Glock for that minimalistic appeal it has while having a great aftermarket support that let's you express the pistol however you want.
Bought this gun as my first pistol about 2 months ago. I have put about 1000 rounds through it. I love it. Especially as a lefty. It is solid, reliable and basic, just like my Toyota

The internal changes are what supposedly makes it better. If you've ever had one that had a faulty slide lock spring that went bad or broke and the slide fell off, you might enjoy the their new coil spring design. I read not to long ago that Glock upgraded the three most common internals that they most commonly got returned for repairs.
I'm one of those "weirdo left-handed" people that bought other brands like the HK's and Walters that catered to people like me. Since Glock has FINALLY realized that we lefties are shooters too; I may go out and pick up this G19 Gen5 to go with all of my HK's and Walters I have on deck!

I can't wait to sign up for gun classes. In my country you have to attend them, pass their tests, then you get a mental test, a health test, basically a long journey but fully worh it.
With the M2.0 Compact out now, I don't think I would even give the Glock Gen 5 look. I held one the other day at my LGS and the flared mag well digs into my hand.
I hated the finger grooves on the Gen 3&4 just because they are too pronounced. I own the Beretta APX, the finger grooves are subtle enough to not force people's fingers too far apart for comfort. But I never carried a Glock until the Gen5 came out. I'm wrong handed, so I've always tried to stick with wrong hand friendly guns like the fns, ppq, vp7, or PX4 compact. The Gen 5 G19 fits a nice "sweet spot" between my FNS9 and FNS9c.
Haven’t read all the comments so I apologize if this has already been posted. Regarding the use of orange followers, the FBI request which led to the M models required high visibility followers. Since the Gen5 is just the M without the fancy finish on the trigger bar and other small parts, it’s got the high visibility follower too.
As a gun lover stuck in the city and state of New York I love watching these videos. It also was extremely painful to watch these videos due to the fact that the gun laws here are set up to make sure that the wrong people on Firearms. I look at mr. Colion Noir and think to myself maybe just maybe I can move to a state where I can go to a gun range without being looked at as a criminal because I'm black
Also Colion, the switch away from the polygonal barrel allows it to shoot cast ammo better. I never noticed any accuracy differences when i shot ordinary ball ammo i bought from my local FFL, but you will see what that barrel is capable of when you compare other generations to the gen. 5 shooting cast ammo made at home.
2000 rounds deep into my VP9 LE and not a single malfunction other than induced ones for training obviously, but then again I'm just some dude in the comment section so believe what you will.
I have over 2k rounds through mine and nary a hiccup. I can find all kinds of Glock failure videos on RU-vid. Maybe somebody got a bad one. Glocktards unite, get butthurt and hurl your Blocks that don't fire at H&K owners then chase them through the village with torches and pitchforks....
Nice review. I was not a Glock fan yes a old ExMarine who liked 1911 Colts and still do. But then I picked up a Glock 19 Gen 4 because I wanted something a little smaller and Colt 1911 9mm are hard to find in 70 series in new condition. I was surprised at how easy it was to shoot the Glock 19 9mm and it has never failed to function yet. My take a reliable gun at a fair price.

Went to my local gun dealer, and held both the Gen5 Glock 19, and the 19X. I spent the extra money and got the 19X. Extremely happy with my choice. You should do a video on the 19X.
Glock 19 is my favorite one and my off duty carry. For myself the 3rd gen is the best. Single spring guide rod, finger groves that for some reason mostly fit my oversized hands well. I'm the lefty that uses his trigger finger on those FBI slide releases. I can live without the finger groves. Lefty slide release not a problem. Getting the right recoil springs on that two spring systems didn't work for me. I like a 6' to 8' ejection and spring the gun to my loads. I like the two pin locking piece over the one pin now offered. Glock 19 6th gen. One piece guide rod, no finger groves, high trigger under cut, longer lock time/travel, two pin locking piece, no frame inserts, slightly longer beaver tail, protruding front on floor plate but no frame cut, keep the new mag well flare.

The only reason why i choose a gen 5 handgun is because it's set up for a lefthanded shooter like myself and i love that cause in the past i own a lot of glocks and it was very annoying to have to maneuver my hand to reach the slide release button and the magazine release button, so now i feel like a normal person shooting a Glock. Now it's time to get my groove enjoying my new glocks 🇺🇸👍

Good video bro, I own the gen 5 G19. I don’t care for the finish on the slide other then that it’s a great firearm. I sold my Sigs and changed all my handguns to glock. Upon research of this gun before buying, it is a revisited gen 2 though and not revolutionary at all. I agree with ya. I like the trigger from my 19X better then the 19 gen 5. 🤙
Half of people who buy a 19 sized glock have fingers that fit the finger notches. Half of people don't, fingers being too big or too small. My question is, why the hell would you buy a gun thats not comforable to hold? And then complain its not comfortable to hold?
This was a perfect review especially for beginners! I was thinking about this as my first purchase for a gun it is expensive, however I am left handed and it seems to be the only gun that fully supports left-handers or as you say in the video "weirdo left handers" so I figure the money would be the trade-off for the comfort of being able to handle a gun properly as a left hander.
