I own and edc an old G26 Gen 3...It's crazy how big of a difference those talon grips make...My story is almost identical to yours although it didn't take a decade for me to love this gun...even down to the Shield 9 part. I carried that gun for a couple years and thought it was the end all be all...boy was I wrong! What is different in my version is that I bought a 'Scherer pinky Extender' and it does not pinch like the Pierce Grip....for me. Last I checked Scherer didn't make those anymore...but if you can find one on the used market check it out...no pinching! What's also crazy is how these new micro 9 'Glock Killer" guns out there like the Sig P365 are making guys all batty...and they start bashing the G26 as 'unconcealable', 'obsolete', let's see what other garbage do they say to justify the price tag they paid?...oh! 'Glock Guys are Miopic'....lol. meantime while my micro 9 shield collects dust in the safe everyday...the G26 rides VERY concealed on my body everyday even in shorts t-shirts and flip flops...with no issues.
I have an old beat up 26 that ive put nearly 10k rounds through and it is flawlessly reliable. Its a gen 3. I pocket carry this bad boy all over the place with magpul 12 rounders. I can ring 3 and 4 inch steels all day at 20 yards with it. I have a lot of pistols, but this one is always with me
I have the Glock 26 GEN 4 it's my favorite EDC handgun. I love carrying this firearm everywhere I go . Very concealable . Can't go wrong with a Glock 26. Glad you did not sell your Glock .
Glock 26x = X grip installed on a glock 19 mag. Now I have 15+1 and doesn't really affect overall vertical length. CAN'T DO THAT WITH NO OTHER SUB COMPACT. GLOCK PERFECTION.
You can do that with most subcompacts actually.. XD, CZ P10, M&P, Sig 320, Canik TP9.. All those platforms offer that type of set up and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
I too, bought a Glock 26 & 27. They remained in my locker for years before getting the 26 out and started firing and carrying it. Before that I carried a SIG P238 which is an excellent firearm but limits the user as far as ammo. The 26 fit the bill as I could carry with a 10 round mag. and get them benefit of a small firearm and carry one or two G19 mags for extra ammo. Love discovering a "new" gun I've had for years, again.
Had the G26 and sold it because it just kept pinching my finger. Also too thick for pocket carry. Missed it so bought another one several years later. Traded it because of the same reason above. Now up to date I bought another one and never selling or trading it again. The G26 is just so much softer when shooting compare to these new micro 9s and and 43/43X. Plus being able to use the G17 and G19 mags is a huge plus as I have both. For some odd reason I shoot the G26 better than my G17 and G19.
@@bluedownC I posted a link in the main comments to a video on this. He used a #17. I used a #38. I think those are different numbering systems. They key is not too thick, so the mag will seat.
Amazingly similar story to my own! Bought a Glock 26, tried it and tried it, didn’t like it, kept it in the safe for a decade, and was going to sell it when I decided to give it another try first … and fell in love with the thing! It has become my EDC and favorite handgun ever. I also love the Talon grip tape, but with a different twist … I use the Glock factory +2 G26 extended mags (the gun still conceals just fine and the extensions give my arthritic hands the real estate they need), and I ordered and installed the pre-cut Talon tapes on the mag extensions. Most secure grip EVER, and aesthetically appealing as the rubber Talon material goes well with the Glock Gen 3 factory grip texture. Great video, and I concur 100%!
G26 with 17 backup mag since 2008. I own the 42,43,19...sold off the 23 and 27 to go to 9mm from 40. I also own some micro single stacks and they suck to shoot well and the 26 carries like a dream and I shoot it as well as anything I've ever shot. The 43 is actually larger than the 26 and why would I give up the double stack capacity and being able to swap out 15,17, and 33 rd mags? (Only use/trust Glock mags) I only changed the sights to XS glow big dots...all the internals are stock. Can't tell you how many rounds in all these years. Never a single malfunction for me. Congrats on loving your 26. Best option I've ever seen.
I just ordered a G26 police trade in from a website this week. It should be at my dealer first of next week. I’m hoping it’s in good condition and still has some glow in the sights. Super stoked! It will be my new EDC and replace my G27 and will be in the rotation with my Ruger EC9.
I found this video because I'm currently in the market for a subcompact.. either 26, 43 or p365... I have Talon Grips on all my guns, even my AR, love them Lol. I like the rubber grips tho, feel great, look good and work amazing.
I would narrow it down to the 26 or p365, from everything I’ve heard the slight difference in thickness on the 43 isn’t enough to make a huge difference, plus take away the mag capacity from 10 to 6, as well as the compatibility the 26 has to accept any 9mm Glock mag making it more versatile. So 26 all day. As far as the p365 it’s also a great popular option
Try the Glock Factory 12 round mags! Magpul also makes a nice 12 rounder. I love my Glock 26! I also put the Hogue beavertail grip on mine. Its perfect!
Thank you for this very informative video. Even though I own the Glock 19 and Glock 17, I have carried the Glock 26 as my EDC firearm since 1999. I love it. I carry the 10 round factory mag and the G19 15 round magazine as back up.
Sold my Glock 19gen4 after 5K rounds through it , was wanting the g19 gen5 MOS but not one to be found anywhere! So I bought the g26 gen5 and the g34MOS and now I don’t miss my g19 , the g26 is my daily CCW and the g34 with a TLR-1 HL rail light is my nightstand/ quick home defense gun and I’m 100% content with these two glocks 😁 oh both are made here in the USA 🇺🇸
Thanks for this video. I applied for a CCW with Glock 17 on my permit, but it is a large gun. I went to the range today and shot the Glock 26 and I really like it. I'll add this to my permit because it is much smaller and easier to conceal.
G 19 has been my all time favorite handgun for over 25 yrs. However the 26 is such a close too 2nd if even a second and i can actully shoot it nearly identically love both the 19 and 26 alot my 2 definate favorite i have updated all my glocks to the gen 5s really love the new gen5s i do have a few special edition 19s in gen 4 and 3 like my semper fi from talo and special operations from talo both of them only had 1000 made there really sweet blued slides real gold inlays also have a RTF2 fish scale and a vickers RTF2 NOn fish scale version and its in od greenish/ brown love the color and im gennerally a all buisness black handgun guy im also a huge fan of the new 45 and 19x hate the 19x color and there really not a practical carry arm but boy are they sweet shooters
All my friends were getting glocks. They trashed me for being a gun guy since 5th grade. I would tell everyone everything about guns and they hated. Now they buying glocks so that's why I didn't want a glock. I finally caved when I shot my friends glock 26. Bought my own last week and hit the range today. Bought a new holster and it's sittin pretty
Glock 26 gen 3 is my bedside pistol at night time I put in the A&G sleeve with the glock 19 magazine in.to be honest pinky or not I’m way more accurate with the 10 round flush magazine.which is counter productive when you take into account I put the 15 rounder in at night .lol I like me a g26 gen 3 flush!!!
Much like you.....bought the 26/27 series Glock 10 years or so ago and just recently saw just how well the two fit into my ccw use. Just bought the first holster ever for the 26/27 and will now carry it more. First thing I need to do is get to the range and practice, making sure the sights are lined up. The interchangability of magazines was another big + for me, the 26 will take all the 9mm double stack mags. My original carry pistol was a SIG P938 but wanted something with a few more rounds and since I shoot the Glock 19 a lot the 26/27 was a natural step up.
Dremmelled the crap outta my grip and undercut, added the beaver tail and cut/sanded that down. Xgrips on the 15rd. Boom 26X There also used to be talon tape by the roll. Can't find it anymore
Try the GLOCK OEM +2 mag extensions. The Pearce extension pinched my hand, but I don’t have the same issue with the GLOCK extensions. The G26 is a great firearm.
Thanks for the info, I did the same to my 26 and is amazing!!! Can you please do one with the G30s 45acp I love that one is my every day carry…thanks!!
I had the same problem with a "cosmetic" the plug in the back of the pistol grip keeps the magazines from pinching my hand when I load them in. I'll try the talon grips
I have both the Glock 19 Gen5 and 26 Gen5. Glock 19, no issues…BUT the 26 has issues with FTF, fail to go into battery and FTE issues. I use Fiocchi 9mm FMJ 115 grain target ammo. Same ammo for all my 9’s…only issue is with the 26. Should I try 124 grain? I’ve been shooting since 1974 and I am now 72, so I’m not a newbie to firearms and have taken numerous firearm classes and have no issues with my grip (as observed by the instructors). Any similar issues with the 26 out there? I’d appreciate your reply. Thx…
Yes. My g26 gen5. Same as the problems your having. Had not made it to the 3rd bullet out the box. Ftf. 4th stove pipe also slide would not lock back on last bullet. Repeat through a whole box of blazer 115gr. Went back and talk to several different dealers. Gen5’s were having this issue. I bought a box of 50 124gr. Shot all 50. No problems. Haven’t tried 147gr yet. 124s solved my problems. Hope this helps you. Scott
Owned three (3) Glock 26s (all different generations). Loved that gun & many undercover police/agents I hear loved the G26 also back in the day. _BUT..._ The Glock 26 (1st Baby Glock) was/is fat & it is the *older* generation of CCW/concealed carry pistol. Glock's (& other makers i.e. SIG P365, Springfield Hellcat, etc.) *newer* CCW/owned with the CCW/ conceal carry pistols as the average thats fire in CCW/CWP is 3 to 4 shots (FBI statistic).
