I carried a Glock 20 for about a year, but decided I wanted something more compact in shorts-and-T-shirt weather. The G29 fits the bill perfectly.

I daily carry a gen 4 G29 as well,I prefer the gold dot jhp Underwood ammo personally. The velocity and muzzle energy with that ammo is about as good as you're gonna get from off the shelf ammo. Underwood FTW! 👍🏼

Hornady, Buffalo Bore and Underwood. Can't go wrong with either but I do recommend a slightly heavier recoil spring than the 17 LBS stock spring for the full house 10mm loads. 20 and 21 lbs springs seem to be the sweet spot.

I owned a Glock 22 years ago and the day before yesterday I saw a Glock 20 and it followed me home!! I forgot how much I liked Glocks!! Went to the range with my buddy and brought my Glock 20 and FN 509 in 9mm and my buddy brought his Glock 19X. I was more accurate with my Glock 20 than I was my FN 509 which is nuts being better with a 10mm than I was my 9. But what really converted me to officially being a Glock person is shooting my friends 19x!! At 20 yards with the 19x I was shooting shot groups the size of a quarter which is insane for me because I'm probably just an average shooter at best!! So now I'm going to get a Glock as my EDC so I'm definitely getting a 29 and 19x I'm just not sure which one I will get first

The 10mm is an Awesome & Powerful round but one thing to remember if you are carrying it for self defense is if you ever need to to shoot another person for whatever reason just be aware that the 10mm will pass through the person you shoot so you better be aware of any other people behind them because you and only you are totally liable for that round and for wherever it goes & whatever it hits. Myself I chose the Gen 4 Glock 30 .45 ACP loaded with 230 gr. Speer Gold Dots and I carry a 13rd Glock 21 magazine for my backup mag because this big round will more then likely dump all its energy inside the person and stay inside the intended target.

You might like this story, seeing as how you are a fellow 10mm Auto fan. Last year, 8 miles west-northwest of Northport Washington, my gf, our 2 year old son and her 10 year old daughter were playing on Sheep Creek, at the Sheep Creek campground. After an hour or so, I left the creek and was having a sandwich right above them, on a creek overlook deck they have there. The three of them were 10 feet below me and about 20 feet away. I had almost finished my sandwich, when I started to get uneasy for no apparent reason, started looking around. Saw movement along the creek in the brush, about 50 feet from where they were playing in the water. Black bear, moving low and slow, stopping often. I immediately yelled at the bear, threw a rock at him/her. I could instantly hear my gf shouting questions at me, but I had eyes fixed on the threat. I yelled at her to get the kids up and behind me, and at that moment, I was suddenly watching the bear over the sights of my PF45 Glock 20. Don't remember drawing or anything, it was just THERE. Her and the kids scrambled past me and went to the deck, the bear was still motionless in the light brush. I tried pointing it out to her, but she didn't see it. I tossed her the truck keys with one hand and told her to trigger the truck alarm. She did, and that bear "whuffed" and false charged around 15 feet or so. So we have a bear plan. I have the family drilled in a slow, watchful retreat while the meat shield, me, keeps an eye on the threat. Hreat plan, in theory. My gf and the kids left me FOR DEAD, INSTANTLY, as soon as they saw the bear clear the brush. All I heard was my gf scream my name once as she barreled ass for the truck. The bear saw them running and kinda loped a few steps to my right, like it wanted to get around me. Truck was 100 feet or so behind me and to my right, so I fired a double tap into the rocks and dirt ahead of the bear. Worked like a charm. Bear fell all over itself stopping and then took off back up along the creek. All' well that ends well. My gf had been dragging her feet on getting her concealed carry. She now carries a Glock 27 upper on a PF940SC frame that I tuned up for her. Her warm weather gun is Beretta Tomcat .32 ACP. Moral of the story: I practice draws, stance, and double taps once a week. I found a licensed CO2 replica Glock 17 BB pistol whose weight is spot on. 400 fps velocity bb's give you good feedback, and allow a measure of trigget control. Exact replica. Slide even blows back. Shoot cardboard in my backyard or basement, running drills. I practice, and so I didn't even have to think about my weapon or a response when a possible threat came. My weapon materialised before I realized it. The saying is, "practice what you preach." I preach and I practice. To do any less is stupid and reckless. I have several "gun guru" type friends, and I never see them practice, or do emergency drills for various scenarios with their family. "I know what to do, and will do it if the time comes" mentality. Stupid and reckless. Anyway, 10mm might or might not have saved our scraggly asses. I'm relatively certain that 9mm or 45 ACP would have done the same, but I don't trust either to reliably put down 350+ pounds of angry teeth and claws. Or 1000 pounds of antler and hoof. Side note: i handload my 10mm woods ammo. 18 Brinell hardness lead swaged with a Corbin swaging die into a 200 grn flatpoint, in Starline brass with 10.1 grains powder. Stout load, penetrates very well. I do NOT trust hollowpoints of any type to penetrate deep enough with forest critters. YMMV.

I been carrying my glock 29 as my main EDC gun now for about 3 years and I absolutely love it. Accurate and fun to shoot even with a steady diet of full load Undrrwood Ammo 200 grain hollopoints. I will say the pinky extender does help make tbe follow up shots quicker especially when shooting 200 or 220 grain full power Underwood loads. I did add a 20lbs recoil spring to it just because I plan to give it a steady died of full load rounds through it. I about 1800 rounds through it without a complaint.

Im on my 3rd 10mm. Went through a 20 and a 29 which both stop working for me once I did the Cerakote and other "upgrades" Had a perfectly running 29 that became a jamomatic after a butcher in Peoria Arizona aoplied his "expert" cerakote finish to it. Got rid of that one. Also had a beautiful model 20 that was cerakoted, had grip reduction, stippled, Trijicon HD sights, one day it too became a jamomatic. Yes, tried all the fixes, ammo, mag switch offs you name it. Sold both of them at a great loss. Went out couple months ago and bought another G-29, put big dot sights on it AND THAT WAS IT FOR UPGRADES. I wont even replace the plastic recoil spring guide, I am that afraid of doing something to it that makes it begin to malfunction. My advice: do minimal upgrades to your Glock. Another thing that worries me, and this happened to my G29 after the cerakote job, that little spring in the frame that works the slide release pull down, it began coming lose and falling out. I read about this guy who was a Glock armorer for a large PD whose Officers carried the Glock as their duty weapon, he states that little 2 dollar spring is the achilles heel for the Glock. NOT GOOD !!!! And yes, these were not the only glocks that have gone bad on me. I have a G33 sitting in the safe that is now malfunctioning every other round, where as before it fed everything. Cant figure out what the problem is with this one now...........then there was that G23 a few years back, got rid of it too. Its a crap shoot I believe with these Glocks, you either get one that works or it just doesnt !!

And always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Some expand it to 4 rules, know what's behind your target. If you'll just memorize these 3 rules, you'll never have a safety issue. You put a mag well in your g29? What recoil spring did you buy ? Is there any down side to having a heavy recoil spring ?
@johnathanross6519
@johnathanross6519 Год назад
@jackshanahan6754 It's a mag well plug. It just fills in that hole in the grip behind where the magazine sits. Since the extended mags tend to move when you grip the gun, the plug helps with movement and helps prevent a malfunction caused by the magazine being gripped during shooting. I use a slightly heavier recoil spring because it's better with recoil with hot ammo. Only downside is that it's bad for ammo that's light in weight and can cause failures to feed. I just swap springs if I'm just shooting range ammo. I keep the heavier 20 lbs spring for hot self defense loads. The spring I bought is a galloway precision recoil spring. Pretty reasonable price and it works.

For a carry gun I'd do the same thing to a 29 as my 23. After market sights (steel factory. Xs bigdots. Trijicons.) Frame stipple for better grip not looks. I like just general stippling not for a design or anything just function, it doesnt feel good without a undershirt but I know in the Florida heat my gun wont be leaving my hand unless its pried out. Metal guide rod and good mags. That's all but also a good break in. That way if you had to defend yourself in court. The sights that where on it would break really quick so I just got new ones, I didn't like how the grip felt, the plastic rod I've seen melt and the mags? Got them on sale. Get the Underwood or Double tap the HD/SD rds even if they're made for outdoor. But since you're ccw with it, it's ok for those brand because like you said those big companies that makes 10mm is under power. Go with underwood anything less you are better off with a .40 underwood is a world apart from what you get off the shelf. I tried a few off the shelf ammo and nothing came close.

the Sig ammo is actually loaded pretty stout. Not Underwood but priced right. The 150 & 180 Jhp Underwood not too bad but their all copper "phillips head" bullets are pricey. All are about 750 ft lbs. sig are 650 or so. Bud's is priced right

I bought a $40 kydex holster, its extremely uncomfortable. Maybe its my jeans? I wear tighter fitting jeans or just the cheap holster?
@PeterRSCFF
@PeterRSCFF 5 лет назад
Barnaby Jones I have several iwb holsters for my G29 and I’ve found that as long as they aren’t too thick (Aliengear, I am looking at you) and they have a soft, good coverage backing (the part that rides against your skin) they are very comfortable. Another very welcome feature is adjustable cant/ride height often achieved by moving the kydex to leather/leather alternative mounting chicago screws to one of three or more positions. This helps you adjust depth of carry for concealment and ease of draw and also the direction and amount that the gun tilts (cant) forward or backward. Adjusting cant does more than just allow a better hand position for drawing, it allows you to tilt the gun and holster into a position that fits your individual body better so it’s not digging in here or rubbing you raw there. Im confident that if you get a holster with all those very common features and you take the time to try different ride heights and cants, you will find a comfortable position to carry. I’m not going to mention brands because there are so many of them from small boutique companies to big, well established vendors. I hope this helps and good luck, Mr Jones
@PeterRSCFF
@PeterRSCFF 5 лет назад
Barnaby Jones Oh yeah you also mentioned jeans. I wear a 34” waist in jeans but if I want to carry iwb comfortably, I’ll use some 35” waist jeans. It helps a lot. I dont wear jeans very often anymore because I am always carrying and I find that my “tacticool” cargos that have usually two small strips of elastic in the the waist to be far more comfortable. The elastic gives the gun/holster plenty of room and flex. They make a big difference and add freedom of movement that’s about more than just comfort, it’s about mobility and capability.

Pinky extension? LOL To me its like someone calling a Magazine a clip. I looked up Pinky extension and nothing came back the only thing that came back was a Grip Extension. I know its petty but it just sounds like something a Girl would say. I fit my widdle pinky it hangs off :( other than that great vid I love my G29 and the best thing is that you can use 40SW rounds without changing anything load the rounds into the 10mm mag so its great for practice because 40sw is cheaper than 10mm ammo. You said Cabelas has good prices on 10mm? NO WAY they have garbage you are better off going with Underwood or Buffalo Bore why settle!

Underwood ammo or double tap ammo? Which is better to carry?
@8888chandler
@8888chandler 6 лет назад
They are both about the same ballistically. Have been buying both for close to 12 years. I believe Double Tap is a bit more expensive. They are both loaded to true spec, so like the guy said, majority of other rounds made by ammo companies are really wattered down, go with Underwood or Double Tap
@gunlovintexan9346
@gunlovintexan9346 6 лет назад
id go with underwood IMO, out of all the things ive looked up on double tap, the velocity alot of people record is far lower than what double tap states. Underwood has true 10mm loading's and also offer a bunch of other different loadings for 10mm

Let me try again... Is there anyone who knows why Glock cannot/will not bring out a 10mm in the 19/23 frame - please DO NOT reply with the usual BS of "it's basically the same size..." - I can read and I have seen the "comparisons" - I want to know if there is some dimensional issue that will prevent the 10mm from fitting in the 19/23 form factor.

@@plathonwatson8238 Well, to be fair, it's not like I'm trying top place an order for 100K units - I would definately buy at least ONE 10mm auto in the same frame as a 23, so it's more of a curiosity thing really - could never understand why they did not just use the same lower frame when creating the compact version of the 10, or more directly, why they chose to make the 29 with such a small grip (length wise).
@TYMGhosT
@TYMGhosT 3 года назад
I think it has something to do with the full potential or 10mm. It’s a high pressure cartridge and maybe they need more beef to harness that explosion. If everything 10mm was off the shelf 40 ammo it could be done but I think for liability the manufacturers have to account for the potent real deal 10mm. That’s my only guess. That and it’s a very long cartridge and that alone may be why a mag with 10mm will never go into a 19or 17 frame. This is just me speculating though

1:57 - FYI I just used my Pearce grip extension on my Glock 29 Gen 4 recently for the first time and the nice things everyone says about it is a lie. It pinched my pinky finger and I didn't even feel it until I was done at the range. I took a picture of the huge, oval blister that I developed from it. Can you guys not ever lie about gun accessories ever again? That's GARBAGE. I think I've had about enough with my glock 20 and glock 29. Nothing but problems, but the pearce extension blistering up my finger was the last straw.
